On first impressions finding out that they charge $ 20 a night per additional adult after 2 adults was not pleasing. Then once walking through the halls and parking lots it is easy to see that the facility is in dire need of some TLC face lifts and upgrades. Upon walking through the entry way of our room my first impression was anything but taking in the rustic feel but more just, my goodness this place is old. However, the room does have up to date entertainment equipment with plenty of hook ups for your own that you might bring. Also, the front desk said the internet could act slow but so have had pretty good internet access. So far even with getting included breakfast food for us to cook in our room the price seems steep, especially since we were unaware of the additional charges when making our reservations. We are looking forward to experiencing the pool area since that is the main reason we chose this hotel out of the many other options.

The unit we stayed in was not detached. It was in multi-unit building. The unit had two levels and 3 bedrooms. There’s nice pool areas with waterslides, a children’s playroom with jungle gym, and exercise room. Staying in place like this is ideal for a Banff vacation… nicer than camping. There’s a small grocery store. Located near all the scenery.

The rooms are dated but well kept and clean. We had the huge suite that’s able to sleep 12. Affordable accommodations that’s able to sleep many comfortable. 4 full bathrooms and a full kitchen. Will stay here again.

Taking my kids to the indoor waterslide at the hotel. Advertised open until 10:00. We walk in at 830 and are informed they are not open to public now because they have rung out the till. Seems a little off to me. My wife and I spend a fair amount is time in Banff as it is a beautiful mountain community but we most certainly will not stay at the Douglas fir resort just for the inhospitable attitude of the front counter person at the slide.

My review is specifically for the«waterslides» they have which are advertised as «open to the public». THEYAREACTUALLYNOTOPENTOTHEPUBLIC, or they are WHENTHEYFEELLIKEITONLY. Long story short… Despite advertising everywhere that they are open to the public, my family(2adults &2 kids) were turned away because their hotel had no vacancy this night. The majority of people staying as guests weren’t even at the hotel but instead out doing other things around Banff at this time. The water slide area was not even close to max capacity. Overlooking I could count maybe 15 people all together at most. Secondly there were only 2 slides and no actual pool. The slides weren’t amazing or anything to remember. My kids being 5&7 yrs. were exited of course and for them to advertise EVERYWHERE that they are«open to public» but then not be, is a disgusting kind of false advertising. Either your open to public or not? Its not right of them to then pick and choose when they want to be. They don’t even keep track of how many people exactly are inside at once or how many have come out. Otherwise they would have been able to say«our hotel has no vacancy, yet there are only 15 people here using the water slides as of now.»

Its location is good and close to shops and scenery. It has family atmosphere. We enjoyed cooking in the unit. The parking is just in the basement. Room rate is reasonable considering there is a kitchen. I think we have made a good choice.
