Stopped in for a quick lunch while I was in Banff and enjoyed the sushi. Loved the Takoyaki!!! Octopus pancake balls… so yummy. Service was a bit slow even though there were just a handful of patrons in the establishment. Fortunately, I was on holiday and not in a rush, but ordinarily that would irritate me. Having said that, the staff was very nice and sweet. Enjoyed dining here and would again.

We came here for supper. The service was nice. The menu is a form you fill out so there’s no confusion. There are pictures of each and every of their dishes, again very helpful! The sushi came quickly and it was very good! Also tried a couple items we were iffy about, turned out they were tasty too! Would definitely say to check this place out. On a side note the music they play is quite catchy! Haha

Looking for some sushI and found this while walking around in Banff. The roll is tightly rolled, make sure to find your hidden gummy bear under the dip dish

Standard sushi place. Other than sashimi and sushi roll, we ordered ramen and some snacks. The soup for ramen was a bit werid to us. Not that it doesn’t taste good, just not quite the taste we normally have. They could get you a full stomach but that’s all.

The service was super slow and the food quality was bad. Don’t order any sushi rolls, they just don’t know how to make them. The other stuffs except for the rolls were okay.

This was one of the worst restaurants I have ever been to world worldwide. The fish quality was bad. They like to serve rice. We found bone shards in the fish.

When you think of places on the planet to get great sushi, Banff, Alberta doesn’t come to mind for obvious reasons. Enter Sushi Bistro! A five star, reasonably priced sushi experience. Hooray. Banff itself as beautiful as it is, is fairly insular, so people can kind of just charge whatever for things knowing that you’ll pay for it. So I was very pleasantly surprised by not only fresh sushi ordered a-la-carte from an adorable laminated menu but by the price point. Two can seriously dine for $ 25: sashimi, spicy salmon rolls, miso soup, tempura and more.

The portions aren’t huge, the service isn’t great, the execution is mediocre, but hey the price is right. Sushi Bistro is one of those cheap, ‘gets your sushi craving full’ kind of places. There’s really nothing special about it, but realistically one doesn’t feel like they’ve been ripped off, and it doesn’t pretend to be anything it’s not. I wouldn’t bring a date here, but I would come and eat to the point of hurting myself, if that puts it in perspective. I would come back.

Dinner visit and there was a line up, we waited approximately 30 minutes for a table. Place is medium in size and has decent décor. Casual attire is fine. A little surprised about a $ 2 charge for green tea but not complaining. Giant rolls are overwhelming on rice and I wouldn’t recommend. Assorted sashimi(superior) was good and same with spicy salmon roll. Staff are Japanese and I’m glad(I’m not a fan of Chinese operated sushi places) Takoyaki was excellent, freshly made and I would highly recommend. Service is slow so don’t come here starving or you will be in trouble.

During a recent trip to Banff my wife and I ended up eating at Sushi Bistro two times. We arrived in Banff around 8:30PM and were hungry. We stumbled upon this sushi joint and decided to go for it. The prices are more than reasonable for Banff. They don’t have all the fancy rolls that other sushi restaurants have but they have all the basics plus a little more. We came back for dinner the next night and ordered a bit more after a long hike. However, since they just have mainly basic rolls, we were a bit limited with selection. One complaint I have is that the rolls have a little too much rice on them. IMO, you can generally tell if a sushi roll is just filler by the thickness of how much rice is on the seaweed. A little too much here. The second thing is that the service is just so so. For some reason the first time we were here, we told the server that we were ready to order. She said OK. Then she walked away and went on to do something else. I thought we were fairly clear but we had to track down another server to take our order. Then when we went to pay, there were two or three workers talking and then told us to wait. They left the till and then we didn’t see anyone again for another minute. If the service wasn’t so lousy I would give it 4 stars but maybe more a 3.5.

A fine place for sushi in Banff, with excellent prices considering the location. We often check it out when in town from Calgary & have never had a bad meal here. I did once get a vegetarian roll that had some roe smeared on it, but they dealt with it professionally & with the proper amount of apology(probably too much, actually). Considering we’ve had this issue with more than one sushi joint & most of them do not see a problem(some even just scrape a few eggs off & return the same roll to me) I was impressed with how well Sushi Bistro dealt with it. You can tell a lot about a place by how they deal with difficult situations. My partner mostly sticks with the nigiri & has never complained. Yes, it is not quite as good as top places you will get on the coast, but it is nowhere near the ocean. The fish can’t swim here without going over some mountains. The menu includes calorie counts for each item, but I suspect they might not always be accurate. I would be very surprised if the deep fried banana with ice cream was only 350 calories, given the serving size. But I will happily eat several of them in penance if I am wrong!(Seriously, try this — share it around the table if necessary) TV at the bar sometimes has live sports & sometimes has ski videos. But it is way in the back — this is a spacious place relative to the number of seats. Accessibility — floor space is very spacious & easy to negotiate. I think the main street entrance is accessible but if not, you can enter the building through Brewsters Mountain Lodge — all the shops on this block are connected to it. NOTE: there are no accessible washrooms, as they are down the stairs
