I’m not sure if the oven settings were off a bit when we visited but the pizza crust was cardboard. The toppings were good, and the potential is there, but pizza is all about the crust and this pizza was a huge let down. Other than the food, I like this place. The beer selection is on the small side but the ones they do have are a good mix of local breweries. One last suggestion for the management; please fix your wobbly tables. They are the worst I’ve seen anywhere.

If Bear Street Tavern were in our hometown, we would visit quite often. However, we visited Bear Street in early February, just as they opened for the day. We were greeted promptly and sat at our choice of tables. We ordered two beers from their relatively large beer menu, the bruschetta appetizer and Italiano pizza. None of the items we ordered disappointed at all. The bruschetta was piled high with ripe tomatoes, fresh goat cheese and the right amount of balsamic to make for a nice and light start to the meal. The Italiano pizza arrived with a generous, but not gaudy, amount of toppings. The crust was thin and crispy, but not close to burnt. It supported the toppings nicely with a nice crunch with each bite. The toppings on the Italiano complement each other quite well and made for a very enjoyable lunch. I’d recommend Bear Street Tavern to anyone looking for lunch ‘in town’, especially those craving pizza.

Overall great experience. 15 minute wait but we left out cell # and they texted us when table was ready allowing us to adventure around beautiful banff at night. Beers on tap were great locals, pizza was great, but really I loved the pulled pork nachos.

Amazing potato cheddar bacon soup. And the wings are unlike any I have ever had, truly unique and exceptional.

I am not a huge fan of pizza but this place actually was a great exception! I ended up there by reading the reviews on Unilocal and I have to agree that they have delicious pizzas. I tried the very tasty Godfather and the traditional Margarita. Loved both. The thin dough was baked with perfection. Besides that, the place is nice and has an amazing smell of pizza; the staff was very friendly; and price is very fair. Just one thing I missed: an option for different sizes of pizza.

Alex is the best bartender I’ve had in the last decade! His Dark Horse whiskey and ginger ale is heaven. The Godfather pizza is amazing, as is the chili oil mixed with honey for dipping the pizza crust. Also highly recommend the artichoke dip. Very affordable considering the location and town.

Came on a Monday to get the 10 $ pizza deal. Only a few options for the pizza but well worth it. We had the donair and the Mediterranean pizza. Both of them are amazing thin crust pizza. They also give you honey and sweet chilli to mix together for a sweet sauce. Really, Banff Gets overrun by franchises that it’s nice to eat something that’s only found here.

Quite delicious! Very happy with our choice of pizza and nachos. Tried the sauce(chili oil and honey) and was pleasantly surprised. Thanks!

This was the perfect post wanderlust meal for two hangry girls. The front door is a little tricky in that this place shares a lobby with another establishment. When we entered, we were greeted by a hostess and told that we had a half an hour wait to be seated but that we could look at the menu in the meantime. After a few minutes, we realized we were looking at the other restaurant’s menu and quickly figured out thee was a different hostess we needed to find and we were seated immediately. Yay! All the pizzas on the menu looked amazing. We were rightly advised to get an appetizer /salad and a pizza to share for two, but our hanger and indecisiveness got the best of us and we ended up ordering two pizzas instead. Both were delicious though we liked the Hawaiian one better than the Big bird, and we were more than happy to leave with nearly a whole pizza to munch on the next day. As suggested, we tried dipping our crust in the honey and chili oil — I wasn’t a huge fan of this personally but it was an interesting idea for sure. Would definitely recommend a(return) visit if in the area!

Had the bison pizza and wings with my fiancé. I’ve never had wings made with so much care, they were great. They had a spiced rub(containing Rosemary) and a sweet spicy sauce to dip. Pizza was really good and the honey and rosemary chilli oil makes it even better. Mon has $ 10 pizzas after 5 And tues has $ 7.50 cocktails 2 oz Another day has byowine

The big bird was delicious and tasted so fresh! You must try the dipping sauce for the crust — chili pepper Rosemary oil with honey. Sounds like an odd combo but made me finish all my crust for a change. Lively atmosphere and wide range of beers on tap.

Stopped here for an early dinner while strolling around in Banff downtown. The restaurant looks very cute and cozy from the outside. They have indoor seating, outdoor seating facing Bear Street and an outdoor patio as well. We got seated in the outdoor patio; loved it. It was just behind the busy streets. so felt peaceful and relaxed. I liked all their menu choices and to be honest, it was hard to select what we wanted to eat that night. Finally, settled on pulled pork mac and cheese and Big Bird pizza. It took almost 30 minutes for the food to arrive, but it was worth that wait. The pulled pork mac and cheese was fabulous — the pasta was perfectly cooked and there was just right amount of cream and cheese in the sauce. The pizzas were perfectly cooked. Loved the crust — crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. The portion size was big enough for 2 people to have enjoyed a perfectly full meal. We had to pack up the mac & cheese to take home.

Eclectic pizzas and cold beers. After hiking we looked for a brew pub with pizza. This came close, as they are a pub with pizza and carried some local beers. The pizzas were interesting combinations. We chose the Classic(salami and cheese) and the Hawaiian(pulled pork, pineapple, green pepper and carmelized onions). They came out quickly and were tasty. The restaurant serves honey and a flavored oil that you can dip the pizza crusts into which was an interesting extra. We sat inside but there was plenty of outside seating. Odd thing is that they only have one knock and lock bathroom. Others are in the hallway but require a four digit code to enter and are shared with the adjoining restaurant.

Bear Street Tavern is a small spot that is right below the Bison Restaurant. They are owned by the same people and share the same venue(of sorts). The patio out front can be nice, but they also have a patio out back and a nice bar inside. The menu offers up standard sandwiches with pizzas as well. I had a steak sandwich with chorizo potato chowder, while the girlfriend ordered the Italiano pizza. The steak sandwich was soaked in au jus already and melted cheese. The meat slices were cut pretty thin, so you get multiple layers of meat with each bite. The au jus sauce was rather thick though and tasted too heavy of beer. I wasn’t really feeling the sauce, but the hoagie roll was awesome. The pizzas are what they seem to be more popular for. They come to about 11′ in size and are enough for 2 people or one hungry person. The Italiano had a wide variety of toppings like sausauges, prosciutto, peppers, mushrooms, etc. The pizza was done well, with loads of toppings and cheese without too much sauce. Apparently, the place was featured on You Gotta Eat Here, but I never saw it so no idea what he ate. I would imagine it was the pizza as everyone seemed to be getting pizza at this place. The servers are friendly and good looking to boot. Place is great for groups and I wouldn’t mind coming back for lunch if I’m ever in the area again.

Food was decently priced($ 12 – 18) from most of what I saw on the menu. Pizzas are medium sized and can be shared between two people of be eaten individually. Tried the Bison Pizza. Loved the flavors and colors. Reuben sandwich tasted yummy. Overall for sandwiches though– the price you pay for portions, might be better off getting the pizzas. Friendly and efficient service.

Banff cuisine delivered all three nights we headed into town. We sat at the bar and were chatting with the kind and entertaining bartender. We had a few beers and I ordered the fajitas. Tortillas could have bit slightly larger to accommodate more food, but the chicken, veggies and guac were all excellent. This is also a great location for some post-skiing food and drink. It is a bit quieter than the brewery and might be better for smaller groups.

The Bear Tavern was one of those places that we stumbled into without realizing that it was a well known gem. The wait for a table was about a half hour. Featured on food network’s you gotta eat here, we watched the full segment on the screen above the bar while we waited for our food. Loved the smoked chicken wings finished in a cast iron pan and served with piri piri sauce. It was typed with carrot shavings, grape tomato and green onion. It’s rare pairing, and sat so well to cut the natural fattiness of the wings. The pizzas were definitely delicious! Loved the thin crispy crust. My favorite was the Wheeler Hut vegetarian pizza. Loaded with wild mushrooms and sprinkled with pine nuts, it was a nice compliment to the meaty wings. The creamy tomato soup starter was very satisfying as well. Friends loved their beet salad, though was a bit disappointed at the beet to leafy green ratio(not enough beet!). For drinks, I had a yummy apple cider. The hubs had a massive stein of beer. The restaurant definitely deserves their reputation for being delicious, well-executed and inventive.

There are few times in life you can go on and on about pizza so that it sounds like you dined at a 5 star reataraunt, but I can tell you that I would rather eat here any day of the week than a 5 star! Crust was light and crispy throughout and the flavors were perfect– especially when you mix the honey and chili oil to dip in! Bring wet wipes for your hands!

This is to die for good pizza! I love the casual ambiance and the service was great! I came in with a small group for a quick bite! I enjoyed a wild mushroom pizza and pint. What was a real find was the addition of the chilli oil and honey for the pizza. Sounds weird but it really, really worked!
