Our group went to dinner there last nite and we could not have been happier with not only the service, but the food and the wine selection. We got to the restaurant late, around ten pm and at no time did we feel rushed or hurried. We all ordered different foods, every thing from steak to pasta to lamb and ribs. We all left feeling content and wanting to come back again. Try it and we’re sure you’ll love it.

We came here based upon multiple recommendations so we were so surprised that they were so stringent in the way you can and can’t order or rat your food here. Let me explain… A steakhouse yet they only offer the fingerling potatoes with their cheapest steak, the hangar steak. I understand what an ala carte steakhouse is… Chart House, Morton’s, Ruth’s Chris, etc. But why does one steak, and a less expensive one, at that, have different side dish options than the more expensive ribeye? How do you call yourself a steakhouse and yet you offer 2 sirloin out of 5 steak options? No porterhouse, t-bone or filets… No accouterments such as: mushrooms, onions, blue cheese, etc. And, if you do order the most expensive steak, a 17 ounce ribeye, then they’ve decided that you need to have it with a citrus rosemary butter. What?!? A great steak doesn’t need weird sauces. Maybe I do want a demi glacé or bearnaise or peppercorn traditional sauce, but those aren’t offered. Finally, in the final demonstration of not trying to appeal to the masses… Look at the tables, there’s salt on the tables but they don’t have pepper on the tables. If you want fresh cracked pepper, you have to ask and they won’t leave the grinder with you. I get trying to reduce salt in people’s diets but no pepper? I want to eat at a restaurant where they want to please me, not where I have to pick a meal that works for them. We have had our one meal with them. Cannot see us coming back.

Bone in ribeye was fantastic and burgers were as well. Price vs value makes this best stop on our trip thus far.

My wife and I enjoyed Salt Lik tremendously. The Baja Shrimp appetizer was a great way to kick off an even better meal. I had the 10 oz Chipolte Sirloin and I have to say it was one of the best steaks I have tasted. My wife ordered the pork ribs and was equally impressed. They were tender and seasoned perfectly. Our waitress did a kick butt job as well and was just a fun gal to talk to. Overall, during our 5-day stay in Banff, this was our best meal, highly recommended!

Awesome steaks. But not only were the steaks really good, the pasta we ordered was delicious as well. It was a great place to eat while visiting Banff.

Decent place. They have good steaks and some tasty bourbon cocktails. Little pricey but to be expected in higher end restaurant/Banff area. Good atmosphere and extremely friendly staff.

Pricey, but worth every penny. Our table of five each had a different steak and all were outstanding. Try the calamari for an appetizer.

Came here on my honeymoon. Had delicious stake, asparagus, and beer. A lovely waitress let us get the upstairs veggies downstairs. Lava cake was fun. Nice outdoor seating.

Had such a great dinner here! We lucked out and didn’t make reservations but we were able to do a walk in. It is so cute here! One of the nicer if not nicest restaurants in Banff. My husband loved his steak, and the lobster mashed potatoes are to die for. The salads were really fresh and good and they had a great wine menu. If you are looking for a good steak dinner in the mountains, check out this place!

In Banff for the first time ever, for a business conference and had a night to do my own dinner. Saw Saltlik on the street while exploring the downtown this afternoon and decided to give it a try after first seeing the menu on Unilocal! Sat at the bar and had a great bartender. Ordered the 10oz C.A.B. Chipotle Prime Sirloin, side of grilled shrimp and the feature soup(today was spicy black bean). The soup was great, although I was expecting chunky, more like a chili or stew. That’s OK; pureed is fine when it tastes good. I guess that’s what makes it a soup! The shrimp: OK, it’s hard to screw up(or go bat-sh*t crazy-good on shrimp. These were good, grilled shrimp. Nothing more, nothing less. The steak: I like it when a place has their steak cooking guide on the menu(Blue Rare: cool center, red throughout | Rare: bright red throughout Med-rare: pink & red center | Medium: pink center Med-well: pink line | Well: fully cooked Chicago style: charred outside, best cooked medium rare inside). I ordered rare and it was exactly as advertised and exactly how I like it. I don’t think you can go wrong with Saltlik Banff for a good steak, good atmosphere and great service. Granted, I visited on a Tuesday night; I’m guessing the weekends during prime time season are crazy.

I was in Banff the last week of August… yes, despite the smoke from the Washington State fires, it was very nice to be there. On this evening, August 22nd, just having gotten in, I was actually in the mood for a hamburger :-) With my companion, we took a long walk, off the busy main street and happened upon Saltlik. It wasn’t too late and so we headed in for a bite. I had the Royale Burger with Cheese and fries… no salad side this evening ;-) My companion had the Veggie Burger with fries too. BOTH burgers were delicious ;-9 Patties were hand made and the beef for mine was cooked a bit rare which was perfect so it wasn’t dry. My companion’s veggie burger was also very good and surprisingly, there was a hint of almond with the base being quinoa, if I am not mistaken. Too full to order desserts, I enjoyed a glass of red wine and my companion, white. The atmosphere was really nice and easy. I am sure though, the later it gets(we were there at about 6:30pm) the busier and noisier it gets. The Roughrider vs Stampeder game(there are 3 large television screens) was on, so along with other patrons, we watched the game. There is a lounge area and dining area(though in part, is in the lounge area). In all, a nice«welcome to Banff» meal was had :-)

This place reminds me of a good olé’ Texas steakhouse. the décor is really cool and modern/rustic. One thing to note is that the menu displayed downstairs near the door is for the lounge. If you opt to have a sit down dinner upstairs, the menu will be different. I didn’t know this and I was disappointed to order a steak upstairs and not get a salad with it(the steaks served in the lounge come with salad). I ordered the prime rib, which was huge and definitely enough food for 2 people to share. All their sides are«family style» so my family ordered a few to share. We got mushrooms, seasonal vegetables, and asparagus. Everything was good. My favorite thing we ordered was the calamari appetizer. They prepared it in a unique way and did not serve it with red sauce like most places do, but it didn’t need the sauce bc it was so flavorful! One con was that we ordered lava cake for dessert, and it took forever to come out and we also felt bad bc we were the last guests in the restaurant. when it gets close to closing time like that, the server should ask well in advance of being done with our entrees whether we want to order dessert, since the desserts are made to order and take a while to prepare. Also, the doors open to the patio let in quite a few bugs and we had to deal with some mosquitoes bothering us, yuck.

I give this place two stars… Food was horrible and service was ok… .Our waitress was not very smart, as I orderd my crown neat, and she looked stumped… yeah…i said it,“no ice” Ordered the Ribeye and it look to be cooked when it was frozen. If you dont know what a steak looks like when its cooked frozen then you shouldnt be ordering a Ribeye. Im sure they would claim there meat is not frozen and possibly cooked in high heat. Chef should be fired for serving a steak like this at a steak house. Scallop Potatoes and steak was super salty… not cool… I would not recommend this place to any steak eater!

Warm, open atmosphere on a spacious balcony overlooking groups of Banff tourists and people out for a weekend getaway below provides the perfect setting for a couple looking to enjoy a relaxed supper. Food was well presented by friendly yet professional staff — just what you’d expect from a slightly higher fare establishment. Tuna appetizer was light and flavorful. Two thumbs up especially if you want to enjoy the food but keep calories under control. ;) The steak was well prepared but a little on the chewy side. It came resting in the middle of a generous serving of BBQ sauce — great if you like to mask the taste of meat itself, not so great if you expect the flavor to come from the seasoned steak itself. Preference details aside, the meal was tasty and I’d recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a nice place to go to for some conversation over drinks, relaxed atmosphere, and a decent meal.

this place is called salt lik because everything here is salty. Haha just kidding but forealz. Our food was so delicious and salty with flavors. We got the steak, lobster mash and of course I ended up getting an add on salad because everything was so salty. I love the atmosphere! Young crowd and super lively!

My friends and I had an amazing time catching up over drinks and steaks. Our server, Danielle, was incredible. She had suggested the calamari which came in thick, meaty cuts with a squeeze of lemon juice and topped with shisito peppers. It was phenomenal. My 7 oz filet was the perfect size and was tender and juicy. I ordered some roasted beets and truffle macaroni and cheese to accompany it. I washed this all down with a maple old-fashioned, because we are in Canada after all. Everything was done well. The molten chocolate cake at the end nearly did us in, but we prevailed. Another day and another adventure in Banff!

I’ve worked in the food industry and I get how it is. So I really hate giving low reviews, but I really can’t give my meal more than 2 stars, and I still feel that this is generous. We love our steak, so we generally order a Poterhouse to judge our steakhouses if its offered. Ordered the Porterhouse medium, he said around the bone it will be a little more rare, so that’s fine. It arrives at the table with butter on top and it’s not even melting, that should have been alarm number one. I had a pretty hard time cutting the steak,(I saw another table order a porter house and the server explained about it and cut it up for them, like Most other steak houses) and once I had it cut, it was not rare, but raw and very cold, like fridge cold. No wonder the butter didn’t melt! So we called our server over and he took it back, told us that we would get new, hot sides to eat with our steak. Came back after a quick 5 mins with our same very burnt steak with a still rare, cold centre. We were starving, and we have nothing against rare, just not our preference, so we ate. We also had new hot sides to eat it with. The steak was under seasoned. The New York side was pretty tough being so rare, the filet side was delicious and with a buttery texture though needed more salt. The broccoli was pretty good but ordinary. The Mac n cheese was good but it’s unfortunate that they put this smoky chipotle bread topping that is sooooo overpowering that if there were mushrooms, cheese and anything«truffled» in there, there was absolutely no way to taste it. We got our bill with the sides taken off which was really nice. I gave one star to our waiter for trying, not his fault. But still sucks to pay $ 68 for a burnt steak that isn’t even made to your preferred doneness. Even if they can’t feel the doneness, don’t they have thermometers for this sorta thing? I read all the bad reviews on here and most people are complaining of raw/burnt porter houses. Maybe just order a New York instead.

Mischung zwischen sportbar(Erdgeschoß) und Restaurant(1. Stock).
