We came here for dinner on Saturday after a long day of driving. Earls is always a goto for me, but the Earls in Banff really needs to improve to hit the big city standards. The burger patty was like a slider patty, half of my bun was left on my plate because there was no burger. The service was deplorable, 4 servers chatting with one of there friends at the back of the bar, all while our drinks were empty. We actually had plans of staying the night and watching the game, we decided to leave after 1.5 hours. Very disappointing!!!

We stopped in Earl’s after an entire day of traveling from the East Coast, starving and exhausted. The lounge downstairs had no wait during the dinner rush. Their beer list was long, their service was great, and the food was awesome. I would have eaten there every night had there not been so many other places to check out.

Earls came out as highly recommended not only by a travel magazine, but also a localite. For me, a recommendation from a localite carries more weight than one in a magazine. I normally don’t like chains, but I had to try this one. The one in Banff has plenty of outdoor and indoor seating area and they have a floor upstairs as well. We got seated immediately and after going back and forth on a few dishes in the menu, we settled for a hot chicken wings and clam chowder. Beware before you order those spicy wings. If you are not used to the heat, this dish will kill you. However if you are used to the spice and enjoy spicy food, then you’ll love it. We loved it!!! The clam chowder was delicious. Our choice of drinks were watermelon piña colada(cocktail) and passion fruit non-alcoholic soda. Fab! Wound up a lovely meal with a sticky toffee chocolate pudding. It comes with a generous portion of chocolate pudding drizzled with chocolate sauce and caramel sauce on the top. A scoop of vanilla ice cream is presented inside a crispy thin shell. This dessert was decadent and way too good. Overall a pleasant dining experience in a neat ambiance with commendable service.

Bad attitude to us maybe we are not white people. Very uncomfortable I felt that moment.

Great food, service and flexibility in food choices. I was allowed to substitute an extremely awesome side salad for a side in the dish description. I would definitely come here again!!!

Family of 5: started with the prawn and mango rolls; they were really good. The hamburger was mediocre, chicken tacos were pretty basic, but the side Thai soup was good. Two orders of fettuccine Alfredo were a complete rip off at $ 19. Barely any chicken and/or prawns and NO Alfredo sauce. The noodles were scant and tossed with oil and Parmesan. The half rack of ribs were good. The waitress was very friendly. Overall, I would recommend going elsewhere. Shouldn’t be that costly.

I’ve been to many Earls locations numerous times and this location is not worthy. The burger was cold and so salty it was inedible. The server was indifferent at best. The only reason for the second star is that the hostess was delightful. This was an extreme disappointment.

Great service and food, very busy and noisy but it was a Saturday evening and we sat in the lounge area. It didn’t take long to get our table and food was fast and delicious.

Very disappointed. The hostess in the bar was rude and unhelpful, though the waitress in the bar was great. When we went upstairs for dinner, the second round of drinks was nowhere as good as down in the bar(including a Mojito with a brown, rotten mint leaf!). Dinner itself was a mixed experience: good hamburgers, but the Cajun chicken sandwich had a really tiny bit of chicken. Finally the service at dinner was poor and inattentive. You can do a LOT better in Banff than this!

This is a great place to get solid food with a family. We were lucky to get a table without reservation for six people(4 adults and 2 kids) and the food was very good. Drinks were also alright. The waitress was very nice and came to our table quite often to check whether very thing was fine. She did this for all tables, also those with smaller parties. Definitely one of the better Earl’s I’ve been to. Worth a visit, if you’re staying in Banff for longer.

I like earls but this one disappointed. Their chicken-apple –fig sandwich is normally a crowd pleaser but they didn’t remove the apple skin and the apples were served cold on a warm sandwich. You could taste that the apples were prepared and refrigerated. Their fish and chips batter is too doughy and they wouldn’t know a good Caesar salad if it slapped gem in the face. Their Caesar dressing is flavorless. Sadly this earl’s doesn’t stand up to the earl’s standard.

Loved this place, a great location in downtown Banff and a great view. The house wine was great and a great deal.(There’s a special on Wednesdays) The service was great and the atmosphere very welcoming. Good for groups and families, though if you have little ones, you need to leave your stroller on the ground floor. I had the lobster/prawn roll which was a special and my daughter had he Kung Pao Chicken, both were delicious.

Really good service. Pretty good food. Too much zucchini in my roasted vegetable quesadilla. It also lacked a bit of cheese. Yummy yam fries!

This Restaurant has a nice ambiance upstairs. Better if you can get a window. Everyone raves about the clam chowder. Yes it’s chunky and tasty but these are canned clams and the chowder is on the salty side. Sorry I’ve been spoilt by fresh chowder on the coast, but for land lubbers this one will do. Staff were very pleasant and attentive. Glasses of wine are ridiculously expensive. Pleasant place though when not busy.

You know, I want to dislike Earl’s because I have my generation’s «issue» with chain restaurants. However, what’s amazing about Earl’s is that they manage to execute so well, so consistently. Even with the transient workforce that is available to them in Banff(a vast cauldron of mediocre restaurants with indifferent service provided by Australian slave labour), the food and service at this location delivered. The décor is modern, the menu varied enough to be a «fast follower» of key food trends, and the view are enough to get three stars. They get the fourth with good service and food that was fresh and hot and well seasoned without being overwhelmingly contrived. About my only issue was that piling onion rings on top of a burger patty requires a snake-like ability to unhinge a jaw to fit the darn thing in your mouth… My new go-to joint when I’m in the mountains for the day and I’m not eating a squashed peanut-butter sandwich on a mountain hike somewhere.

I really like the peppercorn sauce they offer with the steaks(or the peppercorn fillet that comes with it) and the olive oil bread was delicious. I deducted two starts because service every time we’ve been here has been VERY slow(albeit pleasant and polite). I don’t know if it’s the chefs or the waiters(or both) but this is certainly an area which can be improved. Furthermore, I’m a fein for French onion and they don’t have it this week at all so… I would still come back here and recommend it to anyone who’s not turned off by the long intervals between service(and eating) because it’s reasonably priced and still pretty delicious.

Earl’s, I don’t know but we keep finding the right places on this Canada road trip: centre Banff, first floor over the shops Earl’s gives you a view, great food and young Aussie waiters only :) I thoroughly enjoyed my clam chowder.

I’ve been eating Earl’s since the early 90’s when they started with the Parrot cages at the location on St James st. across from Polo Park. The menu has changed slightly but has roughly stayed the same in the 25 years! One this evening I had a really nice chicken curry that was done very spicy and was wonderful! Nothing like washing it down with an Albino Rhino(lager) this time! Love it! Especially when I haven’t been able to enjoy Earl’s much living in QC.

Earl’s, like so many of Banff’s downtown restaurants, is upSTAIRS –many of them! Caution for handicapped people like me! And Earl’s stairs are STEEP! They have a nice menu. I had good halibut and chips, and the rest of our party had fetticini, and an interesting and very good prawn-quinoa salad. If it weren’t for those @&?! Stairs, we’d probably return to Earls. Nice service, varied menu, but blasted stairs.

Although we tried to explore Banff and try«non-chain» restaurants, we ultimately ended back at Earl’s due to the lack of yumminess from other places. It’s safe, good, and we know what to expect. We went for lunch after a hike and the food was super good(or we were super hungry, which could also be the case). We got the mahi mahi taco and a bowl of chowder(there was so much good identifiable things in the chowder — well worth it) and the turkey & brie sandwich and salad w/pecans, apples, and feta. For dinner, we got the crab linguini(strange that it’s in a yellow sauce, but tasty), and the crab & shrimp salad(warm tasty shrimp but couldn’t find the crab!) It’s a great place to eat w/friends as the place is a bit loud and crowded and a great fall to place when you’re nervous about the quality of food anywhere else!

Great place to eat away from the crowd and up on the 2nd floor. We got seated by the window and so the scenery was awesome. Upon a recommendation, ordered the Halibut fish and chips… along with their microbrewed beer… I’m such a sucker for fried fish, fries, coleslaw and hushpuppies… with beer… more comfort food. With all the hiking I did up Sulfur Mountain, I figured I deserved a good meal… even if it was fried. I try not to do too many fried dishes, but this was one I just could not pass up!
