For lunch, I ordered an open turkey sandwich. It was very good. The turkey was sliced into thin strips and placed on top of a slice of thick white bread. The turkey gravy was creamy and seasoned well. My waitstaff was polite and efficient. The restaurant is casual. It is located near a large motor lodge. So, it probably attracts a lot of tourists who want a casual(but tasty) meal in downtown Banff. I would be willing to return to Melissa’s in the future to try some other selections from its menu. Its menu prices are reasonable for downtown Banff.

We stopped by this place for takeout after a long hiking trip. We ordered few pizzas and salad for our late dinner. The man at the reception desk took our order and he said a pizza should be enough for 4 people. This is a joke. The pizza was about the size of a personal pizza from Pizza Hut and they charged us 22 Canadian for it. I took a picture with a plastic fork and posted it on the website for reference. This place is a total joke and I would never come back to this place again. This place is a Rip off and falsely advertised the size of their pizzas.

I ordered an eggs benedict and my egg was fully cooked — not runny/poached. The Belgian waffle was also very plain and mediocre. Everything was a little overpriced for what it really was

My family and I came here for dinner and we had a great experience. Our hostess had a great smile on her the entire time and made us feel welcome. The food was great! I loved my ribeye steak, it was tender and juicy. Would definitely come back here!

Enjoyable experience — affordable, great selection, fast service, cozy atmosphere, kind staff members. The French Onion Soup was delicious. We didn’t venture out in terms of the menu but what we had was good and good for the price.

Went for lunch. Pizza was awesome and the French onion soup was delicious. Nice atmosphere. Great service. Nice to see a restaurant in banff area not gouging the pocket either.

Melissa’s Missteak became our mistake… Very very disappointed. I took for ever to get seated and ever longer to actually get the food we ordered. After asking for our eggs benedict runny we had to return them below because they were solide… an other 10 min wait. The food it self was very forgettable. Plate is simple(shredded potatoes was the only thing accompanying my eggs) and no depth to the flavor. Needless to say we won’t be coming back here.

Nothing about this place was good. Most of it bad. Coffee below par. Eggs benedict with too much, too buttery hollandaise, fluffy english muffin and two of my three eggs were overcooked. When the waiter asked how it was I told him it wasn’t very good, I got a hasty reply which I couldn’t understand and that was that.

Went here with a friend for brunch while were in Banff on a hiking trip. I ordered a chorizo(housemade) eggs benny. I am a HUGE fan of eggs benny, and have had them many times at various restaurants. This one didn’t quite stack up the way I expected it to. The chorizo had great flavour, but it was ground up, and I wish it was in sausage form. I think that texture would have lended itself better to the whole dish. Eggs were perfectly cooked soft like I ordered. The hash that came with it weren’t that good. Not much flavour to them at all and mine came out undercooked. Service was decent, it’s a «traditional» style place, nice homey feel. One more thing that brought it down from a 4 to a 3 was also the fact that they nickle and dime you for the coffee & tea and the juice. For example, when we sat down someone came by offering us juice and water, I thought(perhaps naively) that the juice like the water would be free only to see it turn up on my bill later($ 2 – 3 for a small glass of canned orange juice…) and the coffee and tea weren’t unlimited like they are in most places. It was a good breakfast, but if I am to compare it to other traditional style eggs benny brunches I’ve had, it’s definitely not a 4. I may not have liked the breakfast all that much, but if I’m ever in Banff again(which I hope I am, it’s beautiful!) I’d like to come back and try their steak as that seems to be their biggest draw.

Huge breakfasts, including amazing buttermilk pancakes. Log cabin décor is so charming.

Ordered a NY strip, it was tasty and cooked as desired. However the premium rib eye was chewy and not marbled enough to taste like a rib eye. Can’t be good when a strip tastes better than a rib eye. Based on this experience, ‘Alberta beef’ didn’t live up to the hype. Brownie surprise dessert was a winner.

For brunch: Don’t bother! I could cook a way better breakfast at home. My omelette had so much cheddar cheese in it it was like rubber I could barely eat it. My boyfriends pancakes had a weird texture and the sausage was a strange grayish green color. The ONE good thing was our waiter. Australian guy, unfortunately I can’t remember his name. He was SO nice and attentive. He also gave us great advice for things to do and see in Banff.

Their pizza dough and sauce are both made from scratch! The mozzarella cheese was gooey and there were a ton of ingredients on the pizza like Alberta ground beef, pepperoni, bacon, ham, green peppers, olives, mushrooms, and onions. Yum! I had to be careful when holding a slice too because if you weren’t careful, some of the toppings might fall off! Needless to say, both of us girls couldn’t finish the pizza by ourselves though so Christian helped out.

Nice option for a good traditional breakfast. It is outside of the Main Street in Banff so you get a bit of a better deal. After reading some reviews on Unilocal,I decided to try the eggs Benedict from this place. It is a must. Beautifully done, just the right amount of sauce, you have the option of 1,2 or 3 eggs(depends on how hungry you are). The traditional breakfast is also a very good option, nice quantity of food. However I did not like the fact that the coffee is not included in the breakfast, you pay 3 $ for it. Any breakfast place should have coffee included in whatever choice you get. Place is beautiful, clean and the service is good.

The waiters are so friendly here! My friends and I ordered one slice of pancake — if we were hungry, we would have ordered a lot more. The batter had a perfect balance of fluffy and crispy texture and the syrup was D E L I C I O U S! I need to applaud the grilled cheese with Canadian bacon. Boy was it a savory and cheesy gooey sandwich! I ordered it with a side of beef and potato soup. Yum oh yum! We also ordered a deep dish vegetarian pizza, which was just alright. The smoked salmon Benedict was«yummy» according to my friend. The hash complimented the dish well! I will be back the next time I’m visiting Canada, Melissa’s! My friends and I enjoyed it :)

Nice and cozy place. A great place for breakfast to start your day before you hit the slopes or sightsee. We were quickly seated and coffee was poured promptly. The classic eggs and bacon with shredded hash browns were great. The classic bennies were also delicious. The bill was extremely fair especially for a tourist town like Banff.

Get there early and enjoy some eggs benedict! It gets crowded after 8am. Great prices and great food. Service was wonderful! Our whole table got a different eggs benedict. The Classic(2) was more than enough for 2 people, Smoked salmon Benny was an A+, pancakes were so light and fluffy. I will definitely eat here again our next trip to Banff.

Melissa’s Missteak is the actual name of the place according to the sign outside. The place is located away from all the touristy action, but I read good things so decided to drop by for brunch before we took from Banff for good. The place itself has an old timey feel, as if we were eating in a lodging cabin(but much cleaner). The restaurant offers up breakfast foods and diner classics for what seems to be actual residents of Banff and locals. Menu includes breakfast classics, burgers, sandwiches, and diner steaks(which differ from actual steaks really). I ordered the Club Sandwich with the soup of the day, Mexican Chili, while the fiancé ordered the Fish N Chips. The club sandwich was huge. Definitely not a sandwich you can fit into your mouth… only I did. The meats were good and sliced a bit thicker than normal, which I enjoyed. However… no bacon? I thought all clubs come with bacon :(. The mexican chili was actually really good. Thick and savory with massive amounts of beef and beans. The fish and chips were alright. The giant haddock tasted fine and the batter was done OK. Our server was great. She made small talk and answered all our questions including our personal curiosity of why so many Australians were living in Banff?! She was Australian herself and there were so many of them(tour guides, servers, store owners, etc) that it just struck my curiosity.(Not complaining though. Aussies are awesome!) The place is the perfect spot to grab lunch or a quick bite to eat. Real unassuming and non-touristy, so it was a good meal.

My husband and I stopped at Melissa’s for late lunch on a Saturday. The restaurant wasn’t crowded when we arrived, so got seated immediately. The restaurant looks small from the outside, but they have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. After perusing the menu, we ordered an omlette with asparagus and crab. I only saw wine in the drinks menu and wanted something else. They do have other cocktails, be sure to ask your waiter. I got a strawberry something and loved it. The omlette was served with hash, side of toasts and hollandaise sauce. The waiter also placed hot sauce and ketchup on our table. We loved everything on that plate! Service is very friendly and fast. Food is delicious. Cute ambiance. I highly recommend stopping at Melissa’s for a meal when visiting Banff.

Melissa’s is the only place that I would consider for breakfast when I am in Banff. If your famished from a full day of skiing the day before or looking for the perfect hangover cure from a crazy night they have the perfect menu for both. I love my eggs Benedict and the chorizo variation that they have here blew mind. The sausage they make it with is hand made in-house and has just the right amount of kick to it. The portion sizes are really good for what you are paying. I still have yet to finish a full plate there is always something that I can’t quite stuff down as I am way to full. If your in town and need a good breakfast and great service come down to Melissa’s.
