My husband and I went to Cora’s in Bedford this morning, we hadn’t been there for a year because our last experience wasn’t pleasant. Nothing had changed. It was dirtier than the last time. The entrance was dirty and so sticky that my shoes stuck to the floor. Don’t the staff know what a mop is for! We were shown to a booth that was so dirty and full of crumbs that there was no way I was going to sit down. It doesn’t smell to good either! Needless to say we left. I have never been so disgusted in my life, that place would put you right off your food! I can’t comment on the food but can only imagine what the kitchen must look like. If I could give it ½ a star or none at all I would.

For those of you who have been to any Cora’s, there is one thing I have noticed, that they are consistent across the board. I only ate at this Bedford location once, but it was exactly like eating at the other few I have been. We had maybe a 10 minute wait at the door around 11am on a sunny, cold Sunday morning. Excitingly, I discovered for the first time at this visit, that the tray of fudge that sits at the checkout, is FREE! So you can snack on that if you have a long wait in line. LOL Or obviously, grab a piece on your way out afterwards. The atmosphere is very casual, family restaurant themed, usually with walls of yellow-ish, and what looks like hand-drawn«cartoon» menu items/signs scattered randomly around. Lots of basic wooden tables and some booths. Always busy. Standard, friendly service. The online menu doesn’t seem to list everything, but the egg burrito wrap(?) is good, with black bean mash?, cheddar?, salsa?, scrambled eggs?, onion?, peppers? All their omelets are good actually. Their fresh fruit is good, famous for being presented on your plate in a colorful fashion, sliced in fun shapes. Their waffles are good. Their crepes are good, especially the banana Nutella one. Etc, etc, etc. However, my favorite item may be the fresh potato wedges — they seem to be maybe boiled first to cook through, then quickly sauteed or baked to give them that extra perfect touch, but are soft and delicious. Although it’s never my favorite breakfast place to go to, because of the potential waiting in line, it’s always satisfying. So don’t go here on Mother’s Day and expect a quick in and out.

We waited a long time for everything here and the quality was not the same as other Cora’s locations. We waited for beveridges 15 to 20 minutes and I had coffee. We wIted nearly 1 hour for a burger and oops after that wait they got my order wrong. They did quickly correct that leading to 2stars. Much better breakfast places. I will not go back

It’s not great. Not terrible, but not great. The portions are generous. The prices are perhaps a bit higher than the local competition, but not outrageous. However, we always find the food hit or miss. I am also unsure where they are buying their pineapple, as I have never had good pineapple there, even though I am always able to find perfectly fine pineapple at any grocery store. The service is always fine, but I find that they sometimes seem unable to handle a rush, which is a pretty common occurrence on a Sunday morning! We go, then remember why it’s been so long since we went. One of these days I’m going to learn…

I’ve been a chef for around 10 years and now I am traveling all around Canada for work and Cora’s is always my favorite place to go for a hearty breakfast. This place is a disgrace to the others Cora’s in the country. I went there on a Monday just before noon. Restaurant had a few customers in and I decided to go with a simple and traditional breakfast: 2 eggs, ham, bacon and sausage. Serving time was great, only a couple of minutes between the time that I order and received my plate. One positive point, fresh fruits cocktail was excellent(not too sweet compare to other times). Roasted potatoes were floating in grease. I literally had to swob each potatoes on my napkin in order to be eaten. When I cut a piece of ham, a puddle of dark fat was lying under it. And the taste!!! OMG! It tasted like old dirty cooking plate. Same for the sausages. When server came to ask if everything was fine I told her not and she offer to bring another slice of ham. Even still, the other slice tasted the same. I could not finish my plate and now I’m feeling sick to my stomach with that grease and burned fat taste. Next time I will definitely go another Cora’s. What a shame!

I went to this lovely little place with my grandmother for lunch and I quite enjoyed their meals, mind you it is a breakfest themed menu, I ordered the omelet dish and i loved it and they also serve you with a healthy side of fresh fruit with it. I would recommend this place to take someone for a nice meal weather its for a day out or birthday!

Don’t be in a hurry! Cora’s makes good, if pricy, breakfasts.(Lunch is another manner.) And service is usually pleasant. This location is no exception BUT here they can’t seem to get customers efficiently in and out of the restaurant. The problem seems to be their tendency not to clean and set a table until someone wants to sit there. We’ve been eating here for years but it drives us crazy to routinely wait three or four minutes or more in line even though there are dozens of unoccupied tables. When someone at the front of the line says they want a table for two for example, the hostess spends the next 3 or 4 minutes setting the table,(retrieving the placemats and cutlery from somewhere away in the back) while both the people at the front and everyone else waits. And then the process gets repeated. This also causes a problem when you want to pay since the same person also takes the payment. I’ve written the owner and franchisor about this twice but nothing has changed and I’ve never received an acknowledgement. If they would simply bus the tables as soon as they are vacated like most every other restaurant, it would take no more overall effort but things would move more quickly and this place would become a 4 star spot.

Here’s my recommendation for Cora’s: Order simply. Order breakfast basics. If you go for something grander, you will most likely end up disappointed. For instance, the bacon is great. The hollandaise is terrible.
I have no idea why a breakfast spot(especially a chain this large and well-known) cannot make pancakes. Seriously. They are heavy and doughy and I can’t tell you to avoid them. You’ll want them. You’ll order them. You’ll do it once. Then, like me, you will have learned. I always get the same thing here, the Peggy’s Poached Plate. It’s never messed up, the egg is perfect and the fruit is always fresh. I’ve been lucky enough to avoid hard strawberries here. It’s a great spot for a decent breakfast. Just don’t get fancy.

I have been to Cora’s in Ontario(Toronto and St. Catharines) several times and was always impressed that they went above and beyond the usual ‘breakfast restaurants’. Well my wife and I went to Cora’s in Bedford on Friday for breakfast. I have to say i was extremely dissapointed. I ordered the blueberry crepes with bacon and eggs and my wife had just bacon and eggs. The crepes were doughy and heavy and tasted mostly of oil. The potatoes were cold and greasy tasking. The eggs and bacon were so-so. I would not go back to Cora’s if this is the level of service they offer in the Bedford location. It is really too bad as the menu has some different items that are not available at usual restauarants, but it is not cooked well what is the point?

I love the idea of Cora’s. It’s a truly Canadian story of a woman turning a small Quebec diner into a national chain on the ideals of good home cooked food. In the process(based on her pictures), 1. she’s magically discovered the fountain of youth where she gets younger every time a new photographer is hired, and 2. helped her son become the president of a national franchise. But I think it’s time that Cora tried Undercover Boss. Those beautiful photos of her, and her lovely menus, are next to false advertising. There’s no beautiful glistening mound of fruit. There’s a couple hard strawberries, a badly cored piece of pineapple and whatever melon was cheapest. Those lovely pictures of bread that make you think homemade, come out of a bag you can see from the dining room. Today’s visit was prompted, as usual, by a request from a kid. My children believe that the crêpe wrapped around a bottle of nutella and a half banana is food. I contend it, like many of the meals at Cora, is dessert with a days worth of calories. But apparently most Canadians are as smart as my 5-year-old based on the success of the chain. Despite the look and feel of a healthy breakfast, Cora’s does a remarkably good job of keeping their nutritional information a secret. The soup today would indicate why it’s worthwhile to keep sodium content a secret. It was awful. The kids meals were devoid of vegetation. Even McD’s shares nutritional information on their website. Try and customize your order, and you’ll discover the secret of Cora’s riches. You get charged for every improvement. Want to avoid the high fructose corn syrup and get some real Canadian maple syrup? Expect to pay more than you would for a bottle to get a few tablespoons. What can I say positive? Today’s wait staff made up for what they lacked in efficiency with smiles and friendliness. It’s casual. Even in yoga pants and a hoodie I wasn’t the worst dressed in the restaurant. My kids leave full. The washrooms are clean.

Today was the first time I went to Cora’s, and to be honest, it wasn’t as great as everyone makes it seem. To be honest, I wasn’t really impressed. It was just your average breakfast and there was nothing I was wowed about.

I took my Mom out for brunch over the weekend and we had both been meaning to try Cora’s for quite some time. Upon our arrival we were met by the hostess with a real sparkling personality. She was about to lead us to a table toward the rear of the restaurant when my Mom requested a table by the window instead. She barely acknowledged then hastily seated us by the front. Whatever. We were both super hungry and placed our orders as soon as our server came by. I had the Mushroom & Brie Eggs Benedict with fruit, potatoes & custard. My mom ordered the Spinach & Swiss Omelette. The portion sizes were huge and I almost had trouble finishing everything on my plate… almost. We both really enjoyed our meals here. My eggs were medium poached, mushrooms were juicy and the hollandaise sauce was thick and delicious. All in all, a near perfect benny! The fruit was good as well, especially when you dip it in the yummy vanilla custard! The food was pretty good, but the service overall needs work. I’ll return to Cora’s but not this location.

Been eating at Cora’s over the last 8 years from Ottawa to Halifax and spots in between. To me this location offers the same level of quality. I don’t recall not enjoying the meal, although the prices have gone up. This location gets very busy on Sunday, get in before 10 to avoid the church crowd. During the week, no problem finding seating. And busy is key for the service. If you are standing in line, waiting to get in, turn around and come back later. I don’t want to give staff a hard time, but when we do wait and finally get seated, the service is meh since they are running around. For ~16 $ you do get one of their eggs ben & dictine dishes with all the coffee you can handle. I’ve always had at least 2 – 3 cups from my visits. Expect the bill to creep up if you add the cocktail, & other extras. If you can arrange to get here when the crowds leave or before, then you will get a nice experience.

This Location was by far the WORST I have ever experienced; I also had one of the worst breakfast dining experiences ever(that says something, as I love a good Sunday breakfast) To start off, I never received a fork to eat my food, I asked for one and it was never brougt to me so I had to take on off another table near by. After ordering we waited 25 minutes for our food, the people beside us came in, and received there’s within 10 minutes(they had three people, and I was with one person) I had to send back my meal(Sunshine Panini) because it was cold, and soggy, the fruit was not fresh either(the banana was browning, the strawberries were rock hard) when I got it back; it was MINUSTHEFORK! So again I asked for one, and again I was ignored. I was so hungery by this time I didnt bother chasing it up. I could not finish the meal because I was so disgusted. The waitress was not pleasent at all, she didnt check once if everything was ok. When we were obviously finished napkin over the plate, cutlery too) she came over and took my friends plate; I had received a call which I had to take and she said«I have no idea if she’s done, so whatever, ill leave it untill you leave» Both of us were speechless! Over all, not reccomended. Terrible food, Terrible service!

This Cora’s location offers the same as any other Cora’s across Canada: Unique breakfasts, interesting lunches, and fresh fruit all at an above average price. Probably the best breakfast franchise in the Country. On the other hand, the owners(I’m not sure if it sold recently) are Crooks. 100%. They cut corners anywhere they can –especially when it comes to payroll. The food is good but if you can, dine at the Halifax location. Guaranteed it’s a better establishment.

I always enjoy my all day breakfast experience at Cora’s. It is so refreshing to sit down to a large plate of fruit that sits on top of my crêpe or my french toast. I normally order breakfast at Cora’s, regardless of what time I go there. I have never been disappointed with the service or the food. The staff are very helpful and the food is ready promptly. They have the freshest fruit and light and fluffy whipped cream to top off your favourite breakfast choice.

Cora’s is a very sweet spot for all your breakfast needs. They’ve got all day breakfast, which you can never go wrong with. Their menu is full of yummy variations of every breakfast favourite. The ladies who were serving me at this particular Cora’s were extremely polite and friendly. I was served with smiles by each person I encountered. I didn’t feel funny enjoying my breakfast alone here because the waitresses were quite talkative and made the experience enjoyable. I found the menu a little hard to read. They have fun text explaining what each dish is, but every once in a while the letters seemed to jumble together and I couldn’t make it out. Even with the funky writing I was able to pick something delicious. I was sad to see that the meal I ordered didn’t come with fruit. I’ve been told that Cora’s is famous for the fruit they always give with the meal. Perhaps it was because I just ordered eggs and sausage that I didn’t get fruit, but I was still sad. Even so, I left Cora’s extremely satisfied and quite full. I ate everything on my plate and left paying only $ 6.00. Now that’s a pretty cheap breakfast, if you ask me. I’m going to have to order something different next time because I really want that damn fruit!

Located across the street from the Sunny Side mall and Pete’s, this Cora’s location lives up to the standard. The nice thing about Cora’s is that you can be in Bedford or Montréal and still get your omelette with spinach and cheddar done exactly the same way. This particular location isn’t quite as busy as the Dresden Row spot, so if you have a hankering for a massive fruit clad breakfast, and don’t want to wait– this is a better bet.
