Baked goods are evil — sweet, sweet evil. They make it difficult to stay in shape, and they make your stomach sore if you manage to over indulge(which honestly, isn’t hard to do). Gleneagle Bakery in Sunnyside Mall is tucked away in the corner of the food court, and a lot of people tend to pass by without a second glance. When I first stumbled upon this gem, I took note of their decadent peanut butter squares, and their outrageously delicious date smiles(a date square wrapped in a half-moon). I haven’t tried everything, and thank god for that. I would be 50 pounds heavier, and none too pleased. However, the baked goods I have tried have all been prepared and baked to perfection. It is perfect for those days when you need a quick pick-me-up, or something to satisfy your sweet tooth. The ladies who work the front counter are sweet, and are more than happy to help you pick your poison. If you haven’t had the opportunity to check it out, I suggest you do so next time you are in Sunnyside!

Gleneagle has saved my cake baking deficient family from many a special event. Moist and fresh, their Coconut Cream Cake has my partner hooked, and it makes even myself, not a huge cake fan, satiated.

What do I love about this bakery? The price point. I know, I know, you might think the amazing, delicious, tasty, scrumptious, finger-licking, «sell your first-born child for a second piece» baked goods would be the thing I love most. And, hey, I guess they’re, y’know, okay. What really stands out is that the food is reasonably priced and amply portioned.
