The chicken here is delicious — large portions and cooked to perfection! I’m not a big drinker so I’m just here for the food. The complimentary pickled radishes here is really refreshing to snack on in between juicy pieces of boneless chicken. The service here can be non-existent when the place gets busy on evenings and weekends. I despise raising my hands or gesturing servers to come to the table because I view it as being kind of rude however servers won’t check up on you at Korean/Asian restaurants unless you gesture them to. Even making eye contact doesn’t work here so up goes my hand.

A staple whenever I go to Koreatown. It’s a bit overpriced but nothing too ridiculous. I always get the half crispy half saucy boneless chicken, personal preference is the crispy one for sure. There’s something so satisfying about Korean chicken, and it’s never as oily as its western counterparts. We also get skewered ddukbokki since actual ddukbokki there is too expensive. It’s pretty good, a little too spicy for me but that’s not their problem.

We visited Korea town with some friends for chicken and beer. Dasarang can host big parties so we had no problem getting a table. We ordered the hwasal chicken(very spicy and comes with jalapenos and garlic slices), soonsal chicken(soy plain), half & half(Korean yangnyeom and original soy plain), padak(soonal chicken with sweet and sour sauce, tons of green onion and jalapenos), pan fried gizzards, and of course beer. The padak was the only dish that stood out, the rest were not memorable. The portion sizes are pretty decent here but the prices are a bit much, but overall the quality of the food quite alright.

OK everyone knows I hate coming here. If you want chicken + beer there are other places you can go with better service and better atmosphere. Literally this place is like my least favourite Korean drinking place. Came with my coworkers last time because majority voted for Dasarang, and it sucked. This pace is SO freaking bright and they play the saddest sappiest Korean love songs. How are you supposed to turn up to that. I get senior home vibes to be honest. it’s the only way I can explain it. The food is just not bad? not amazing. Although I do like the spicy rice cakes with cheese. Other than the atmosphere, I hate the drinks here. Just plain beer and soju basically. And rice wine. And this is not good enough for me. I need my variety in beer, need my variety in soju, and I need my real fruit stuff going on if you know what I mean,. Would go to Midam(just downstairs) anytime over this place. 2 stars solely dedicated to the spicy rice cakes with cheese.

My cousins and I went for dinner here on Saturday night. My first impression was that this restaurant was super expensive — the dishes are all over $ 25 for just a plate of chicken. What I failed to realize is that two giant plates would feed a table of 5. We ordered 2 plates of chicken(the half and half and Dak Gang Jeong) along with a pitcher of beer and a side of the rice cakes. Although we weren’t the biggest fan of the saucy chicken in the half and half, we all had to admit that all of their food was really well done. Service was a little slow(we had to flag down any service after all of our food was dropped off) but was never unpleasant. I wouldn’t suggest going with smaller groups — the plates of chicken are quite large and it was nice to be able to order a couple plates between us to have some variety. We would be happy to visit again for another meal!

We miss OB Bear in LA and wanted to do chimek. And found this place. It is a little bit of drive from where we live, but we do not mind. The food here was just ok. the spicy rice cake and spicy chicken had the same taste, so we got kind of tired. The place is not pub, but more like family restaurant. The service was not so attentive. Free parking in the mall

RATING Food 2.5÷5.0 Ambience 2.5÷5.0 Service 2.5÷5.0 Price $$ Everything here is average in terms of food, service, ambience etc. I’ve tried Dasarang’s food about five times or more, and the quality seems pretty consistent but it’s not something that makes me return or recommend to someone else. I usually come here because there are not so many options for fried chicken nearby. Anyways, if you haven’t tried Korean fried chicken, you are missing something out in your life. So go ahead and try delicious Korean fried chicken with beer.

I give the food 5 stars because the sauce for their signature chicken is divine and the batter is the right amount. I give the service 2 stars. exceptionally slow. but, the food is worth the wait. there were a lot of people eating here. if time is not an issue, I highly recommend eating here.

I’ve been to this restaurant a couple years back and it used to be one of the best joint to get Korean fried chicken. I returned to this place just a month ago with my friend, and it was quite disappointing. We ordered half original fried chicken and half covered in sauce. The batter was not at all crispy. It had nothing of the characteristics of that wavy, extra crunchy, Korean style chicken coat. The meat was surprisingly dry, despite the fact that it’s deep fried in oil. It kinda made me think that it was old chicken that’s been fried again. I honestly can make better fried chicken at home than this, and the price is not at all cheap with small portions. Service took too long to even give us the menus. To sum it up, mediocre food at best, mediocre service(though the place was busy so I will try to understand that part) and I will not return.

The search continues for good korean fried chicken in the Lower Mainland. This can be a good spot for big parties. Just make sure you reserve ahead of time. Portion size is small. It looks big because it comes on a big plate but most of the chicken pieces are bones or the fried batter covered with sauce. Precious little meat. For $ 20, I can get almost 8 lbs of chicken at Superstore. Here, for $ 22, I’m getting barely 2 lbs. Get the beer in the pitcher. It looks impressive, although it might be slightly watered down.

Pretty tasty chickens & other dishes. The actual food is somewhat less than the image on the menu but still filling. On the salty side. Their extreme down-side is that the servers barely come around and you have to wait forever for something. Some of them would stand around the counter and chitchat. Still friendly though when serving.

Summary: Mostly Korean fast food, and mostly delicious fried chicken :) I was promised a Korean dinner by one of my Korean accomplices, and it so happened that he chose Dasarang Chicken as the venue for the dinner-that was-promised(Song of Ice and Fire reference!!) We were served a complimentary chopped cabbage salad, that came with a savory sauce ~ never knew that chopped cabbage could taste this good. I had to ask for another bowl. :) As the main entrée we ordered the Pa-dak, which is essentially a plate of boneless fried chicken with sliced green onions and sour lemon soy sauce. This was some delicious friend chicken, but, then, when is fried chicken not delicious? :) I found the skewered rice cakes dipped in a Korean sauce more novel and intriguing. It was slightly sweet, slightly spicy, and it left an after-taste of confused deliciousness. Nothing exceptional about the interiors, the service was prompt and friendly. Might return to this place, next time I am near Coquitlam.

Until yesterday, I was merely aware that there was such a thing as Korean fried chicken. Now, from one bite of the stuff, I am hopelessly hooked. I don’t know how to describe the flavour, except to say there was a pleasant tang to the crust and I love it. I just happened to be in the area, working up an appetite exploring the parks and winding trails around Lougheed/Burquitlam, when I got a specific craving for fried chicken and the Unilocal app led me to Dasarang. My friends tell me now that Dasarang is the king of Korean fried chicken places. And yet also dangerously close to my neighbourhood… The only real drawback of this restaurant, besides being in a complex with only makeshift parking for my bike, is that they don’t seem to have very many side dishes to go with the chicken, at least not on the dinner menu. Am I wanting too much too soon? We’ve only just begun, Korean fried chicken. Where have you been all my life? Can we see each other again?

[Korean Fried Chicken] Some friends had wanted to go for a fried chicken lunch — Korean style. I had no idea what to expect but I hadn’t had an artery-clogging meal in almost 2 weeks so I went along with it. The place looked like a Korean version of Nandos, but full service. Despite the fact it was 2pm, the place was pretty busy. I left the ordering upto the others since there was way too many options for me to make a decision in a timely fashion. Between 6 of us, we shared four dishes — a plate of half and half chicken, 2 plates of green onion fried chicken, and a seafood rice roll stew(Their actual names were in Korean which is Greek to me). The green onion fried chicken was delicious! There was so much green onion ontop of the chicken, it looked more like a small forest had grown on the plate. The half and half is a mixture of fried sweet-sauce chicken. The fried side reminded me of Phnom Penh’s wings — not quite as good though. The other half was more like a sweet and sour coated poultry. 2 flavors for the price of one! I wasn’t a huge fan of the seafood rice rolls. I’m a little biased here since I generally dislike any sort of glutinous rice-based masses(ie. moshi, rice cakes, etc.) I find they don’t have any flavor and are really just a sponge for the sauce it simmers in. The seafood and cabbage in the stewy mixture were decent with good flavor. Though I enjoyed the food, the place seemed to be understaffed. Our server seemed to be in charge of everything resulting in timely delays to our order. Value-wise, I wasn’t blown-away at $ 20 a dish. Side note: does anyone else find Korean food to be overpriced in this city? Anyhow, I think their chicken is quite tasty and comforting so I may find myself here again if I’m in the neighborhood.

A fun place to hangout with friends if you guys want to enjoy beer and chicken without going all the way to Korean part of Robson Downtown. Typical korean chicken + beer place. Lots of people on the weekend(noisy but fun), more casual on weekdays with a few customers here and there. Be advised that on weekends there could be a slight lineup. Delicious chicken and I recommend the Korean Soy Sauce Chicken with green onion? I think that’s it.

Was here last night with a group of friends for chicken and beer. Got to the place at like 8pm and they said it was an hr wait for a table of 8. We were seated after 20 mins which wasn’t bad at all even though we were super hungry. We sat down and they gave us our menus which was awesome but no water until like 20 mins later. Keep in mind that it was pretty hot inside with no AC. We order 3 plates of chicken, a plate of fried squad and 2 pitchers of beer. It felt like it took them forever to get us our beer and none of the servers ever looked up(there was like 3 waiters working). Asides from the slow services that we got the food was pretty good. The environment of the place isn’t the best and if you want hot sauce or something, it’s like self serve. lol. I would only come back for their fried chicken.

Not bad but I’ve had much better Korean. The flavours do not seem authentic(unless they use tomato ketchup as a sauce in Korea)
