I went in to get a foot long sandwich for lunch today, and I left moderately pleased. When I got back to work to actually open and enjoy my lunch, I found a foot long Italian bread in crumbly crusty pieces, as the top of my sandwich was no longer there. I managed to eat about half of it, when I started on the other side. More crusty sandwich. That was enough. I packed it up. Dissatisfied, I called the location looking for a manager. No manager working today. I spoke to one of the employees on the phone, told her how I was unhappy with my lunch, she told me to call her back(it was noisy on her end.) ok… I called back not less than 2 minutes later, to have the phone ring and ring with no answer. My coworkers urged me to go back. — I am not one to go and complain, but I went. When I got to the counter to show my crusty hard sandwich, the young lady offered to remake it. I declined, as ALL of the bread in the container looked over done. The male that was ‘helping’ assured me it wasn’t «burnt»(NO I did not have it toasted) I asked to talk to the lady whom I was speaking with on the phone, he said she was in the back, having lunch. I could see from the front counter that they were avoiding me in the back. She just told the man to give me money back for my foot long sandwich — rather then addressing the issue. The man still was pleading his case that the bread was NOT burnt, as he handed over my refund. Not only was the sandwich unsatisfying, their service(lack there of) was rude and hostile. I will find another location to go to from now on.

My morning trip to subway today was a bit unpleasant due to the lack of customer service. After I had ordered and paid for my flatbread, yogurt and coffee, the cashier placed my cup for the coffee beside my sandwich and proceeded to walk away. After a few minutes I had asked her if I was going to get my yogurt, because it had seemed as though she forgot. She came back with yogurt in hand and placed it on the counter and walked away. I then realized that she hadn’t given me a spoon, and that there were no more on the outer counter. She put it down spitefully and then proceeded to ask me if I needed any cream or sugar for my coffee. After receiving my one requested cream and filling up my cup I realized there were no more caps for the coffee cups. So I asked her finally if she would grab one for me and so she did. My point isn’t that she had forgotten about all these minor things, my point is that she did not greet me or acknowledge me as a human being — rather an annoying and needy customer. Customer service should be implemented better at all subways, not just this one. Most subway workers seem like they despise their job and that they’re being forced to work. If that’s the case then please don’t work in customer service. That simple.

One of the cleaner Subway locations around the Burnaby area. This one even has couches in the corner. Parking is metered everywhere around here. Park at the mall across the street at your own peril. The location is part of an office building. There are stairs that must be climbed, but it may be possible to go around them from the back of the building. One thing that’s nice about Subways is that their regular subs are available all day. In other words, one isn’t forced to buy only breakfast subs in the morning. I really wish other chains would do this. The staff was friendly, and made a beautiful sandwich for me. It tasted great.

Good: * Clean location. * Made just the way you want. * $ 5 footlongs * The male that works there is excellent. He’s professional, kind and gives you what you want. He doesn’t skimp on ingredients or gives you the stare like other Subway locations. Bad: * Parking is tolled, unless you park at the mall or underground after-hours.
