I rented a property from amhurst and was it a bad experience. It’s a husband and wife who try to run this small business. I had mice very bad in our 2 bedroom suite. It was concerning because my toddler was there living with me. The first reply was«Oh why don’t you get a cat? «Seriously? I’m allergic, but Thank you. After the mice were shitting in our food I called and demanded they do something or I’m calling a health inspector. Finally exterminators showed up. Basically set traps. That’s it. Weeks went by and I notice dark mold in the corner of my bedroom and decided that was it. After informing Amhurst that I was moving out in 30 days I also mentioned the mold. They simply said I don’t have to worry about it anymore because I was leaving. Wow. I Applaud you.

I rent a condo in Royal Oak that is managed by Amhurst. From what I have experienced and from what my landlady tells me, Amhurst is a terrible management company. The building is never vacuumed, other than the front entrance. The hallways and stairwells are always full of dirt, stones, and other crap. It appears they have no staff that cleans this place. When my landlord contacted Amhurst to put my name on the buzzer, it took forever. She said that’s normal for them. When I have called, they never once called me back. The underground parking is absolutely filthy. We were told that they would be having it powr-washed. Well that didn’t happen. The company they hired didn’t show up so Amhurst scheduled another company to do the work. Well that was useless. They supposedly«swept» the parkade. It only made it worse. So they were to come back. Again, the company didn’t do anything. When my landlord contacted Amhurst about this, she was told it was cleaned. They are such liers. When they arranged for paving of our outside parking lot, they said we all had to move our vehicles out of the parkade. Not sure why as they weren’t doing anything downstairs. The company didn’t provide us anywhere to park and our street parking is very limited. This was a total joke. In the end, they only repaved part of the parking lot. Amhurst seems to be totally disorganized. Every thing they have done has either been rearranged or rescheduled or something along that line. The replacing of the carpet took almost 3 weeks to finish and started more than a week after we were told it would. Same goes for the paving. And I won’t even mention the stupid parking garage cleaning because after a year, that still hasn’t been done even if they think it has. For anyone looking at a property managed by Amhurst, avoid it all costs. This company is useless. They don’t care about their clients, provide no service, and continue to raise their rates. There are tons of better property management companies in Calgary that are deserving of our business.
