What can I say… a book store with a coffee shop in it, Brilliant. Only wish I had thought of that idea way back when. I tend to browse the kids«sale» section on a regular basis since I’ve always had kids around me(nieces, nephews, my own, kid’s friends, etc) and I like to buy things on sale. Love when I can pick up a beautiful hard cover kids book for $ 2. We enjoying bringing our kids here when there are kids events going on or just to get them out of the house and encourage reading. Even though they’ve changed their program and prices have gone up, being an irewards member has also saved us tons of money over the years. I still like to support local business but will also continue to drop into this book store. There is always something to look at and the addition of a coffee/tea in hand makes it more pleasurable.

I like this location as it is never overly busy. Even with the movie theatre right next door, where you’d think people would come in to kill time before their movie starts, the line at the cash in never very long. I find some of the aisles in the back corner of the store a little tight to navigate when the store is busier but that’s my only complaint. There always seems to be a staff member around when you need one or just milling about ready to greet you when you walk by.

Chapters is a national bookstore chain that has some similarities with Barnes and Noble. It also has hints of the the old Canadian bookstore chain Indigo which Chapters bought out a few years ago. This particular Chapters is near the Sunridge Mall and is close to the Calgary Airport. When I’m in town, I usually end up stopping just after I get to town or just before I’m about to leave. It’s a great place to kill some time and even buy those last minute gifts before you head home. The store itself is large, open, and comfortable to browse around. It has an excellent selection of books, gifts, and a sizable magazine rack. There’s also a Starbucks on one end.
