I’m being generous by offering a 2 star and the reason is because of the ability to get an appointment fast. Maybe my stylist was having an off day but this was a pretty scary experience. I just needed a cut and sat waiting with wet hair while my stylist took another client.

After hunting online for highly recommended hair salons in my area I came across Studio 301 and decided to book a much needed hair appointment. I went in wanting a change from my usual long haired trim and Petra was friendly and helpful. I ended up deciding to get both a color and cut. Right off the bat Petra admitted that she hadn’t expected me to want coloring so she had to juggle me between another booked appointment. I really appreciated her honesty but it still made me feel a little uncomfortable and worried that the end result of my hair wouldn’t turn out the best. The cut itself, however, actually turned out great and she did an awesome job(especially since I’ve had a long hair style for a very very long time and it had been the first time in years that I had it cut to a short length). The coloring though… it was okay. I’m not sure if it was because she had to juggle me with another client or that coloring just isn’t her forte but it just didn’t turn out the way I wanted. It wasn’t a «what have you done?!» type dye job but it didn’t have me jumping for joy. My original hair color was a mousy light brown and I wanted it lightened to a golden blonde. The end result was a flat blonde that in some lighting looks too yellow for my taste. In the future I think I’m going to have my hair colored elsewhere but I’m definitely going back for a cut.

My sister came home from the salon and her hair had NOT been butchered, so I decided to see her new stylist as my amazing one at Redbloom is on maternity leave. The place is a bit confusing to find, but once I did, Petra was so so SO nice and apologized she couldn’t hear the bell — I didnt ring a bell, so my fault, not hers. Anyways she sat me down and sat in front of me and asked me what I liked, and what I didn’t like. I had never been asked that before, what I didn’t like… well, hell, I knew all the things done to my hair I didn’t like, so that was easy. Even though I came in for a trim, she spent a full hour on my hair. And she did what i asked for, a trim. She said she listens to clients when they say ‘only an inch’ because she wants them to trust her and not be traumatised by the experience. She said you can always cut more off if need be after, instead of being stuck after cutting too much hair off. I found her very engaging, chatty and SO kind. I even hugged her when I left because I liked her that much, and she came in for the hug first, so if I hadn’t, it would’ve been awkward. Just kidding! I wanted to hug her anyways, she’s just that type of person. She is also very generous for clients giving her referrals. Mia now gets $ 20 off her next cut when she books. She uses Moroccan Oil products, which I love. So for $ 45, you can’t get any better than this. I recommend seeing Petra if you want a stylist who actually listens.

I was refered to Petra at Studio 301 by a couple co-workers. The moment I walked in, I was warmly greeted by Petra. The space she works out of is small and intimate. They not only offer hair services, but esthetics as well. Petra asked me about my hair in detail(how much I wash it, what my routine is, what Im looking to do today) and gave me exactly what I wanted. The bonus. the cut was only $ 45!!! I dont know where you can get a quality cut for that anywhere anymore. I was very happy with the whole process. Petra was great and made me feel comfortable immediately. I’ll definately be refering her to friends!
