Nothing memorable. I watched our server and others, multiple times, use a drinking glass to scoop out ice from the ice bin in the bar and then fill it with something. COMPLETELYUNACCEPTABLE!!! Do they not understand the risk??? Where is the bartender/manager to correct this activity??? My steak needed to have the seasonings scraped off as there was too much on it. Fries were not hot. Tables seated after us received food before us. Our server never checked on us while eating. After eating and having empty plates sitting in front of us, the server walked past many times, empty handed, and just didn’t seem to care. So we moved the plates closer to the edge of the table where she was walking by. After 10 minutes she got the hint. It’s not like she was busy with all 6 tables in the area. Just lazy. There was nothing that happened which would warrant me to ever return.

Even though we live in the US it’s definitely worth the trip across the border and eat at Sammy J’s. We have been there many times. My favorite dinner is the New Orleans Combination. It has steak, shrimp and scallops over cheddar mash potatoes. Its truly the best meal I have ever had. Everyone has always been nice and the service is great.

My meal was very good. I can’t remember what my plate was called, but it was grilled chicken breast with a honey — bourbon sauce, smothered in mushrooms, bacon and cheese, served with white cheddar mashed potatoes and perfectly cooked asparagus. Yum. But my hubby’s backyard burger was amazing! I had a couple bites of that! Probably the best patty I have ever tasted and the perfect combination of toppings to match. The deep fried banana caramel cheesecake with ice cream was also to die for. Reasonably priced for what you got too!

Came by with some friends for a bash. Parking is available in the lot around the building. I haven’t hit this chain in years, and it looks like they’re trying to move upscale like Cactus Club. Unfortunately I didn’t notice anything special, and the theme is rather bland. Looks a bit like a Chop as well. Staff were friendly and professional. As I was only here for drinks, I can’t comment on the food. They have their in-house beer for $ 5, which isn’t a bad deal, and tasted pretty decent too.

I love, love, love the food here. It’s so nice to go to a restaurant that is not afraid to put great flavour in their food. The worst part of going there is that I can never decide what to order because there are so many delicious choices. The décor is modern and clean and the service is great. I tell everyone to go here. Good job Sammy J’s

This was my first time eating here and hope to come back again someday to trying more of the delicious food! We were a party of 4 and seated in the lounge. The ambiance was nice although the music was a little loud but then again we were in the lounge. The service was fast, friendly, and inviting. Impressive. The bathrooms are super nice and clean! Their interior designer did a great job!

Gave Sammy J’s a second try because the first time was the worst food I have ever had at a restaurant. But to my surprise the second time my dog really enjoyed it :)

We had our daughter’s 16th birthday here and we were very pleased with how the evening went. We booked ahead and had a set menu so the kids had a choice of 4 or 5 different entrees, they had pop, coffee or tea and the charge for the food, drinks, tax and gratuity was $ 20 per person. This made it very easy for us to leave them on their own for the evening and we just paid the bill. The staff was very accommodating and the manager even threw in some appetizers for free since there were some changes made with our reservation due to some Chistmas party bookings they received. We would definitely recommend this place for a group function especially for something like a 16th birthday. They treated the girls with respect and made them feel welcome.

Dinner with friends before a movie. Wanted to go somewhere we hadn’t been before and one in our party suggested Sammy J’s. First time I had been since the name change from Sammy J Pepper’s when the were in North Van years ago. Place was nice, no one had any complaints about the food. I had asked for hot sauce and was given the choice of tabasco or sammys special and chose the sammy’s, with no mention of a charge. Got the bill and noticed a .79 charge for dipping. I questioned it and she said if was for the sauce. This little nickle and diming turned a nice dinner with friends at Sammy’s to will choose somewhere else next. We do have a Sammy’s about a 10 minute walk from our house which I have never been too and the chance going now is NILL. Sammy’s, if you think you need to make your margins off the condiments, you better take a step back, cause you just lost 4 diners.

If you have any allergies, dietary restrictions, or require special service this place is not for you. After telling multiple servers in multiple ways that I was allergic to dairy, they brought me three different food items with dairy in them. After my companion mentioned that she was gluten-intolerant, they brought her a gluten-free menu and then a gluten-full drink. The food was bland, the service not great, and there was literally nothing on the menu that a vegan could eat. If you want to just point and grunt at a steak and beer then feel free to try this place out. Otherwise try the Dairy Queen next door. At least they listen to your order and are cheap.

Our family has been to this location several times and we’re fans. We have a 5-yo son and we have a limited budget. Luckily SJP is in the Entertainment book. The food is quite good and priced on par with its competition(Cactus Club, Earls, etc). It is an adult restaurant but good for family as well. I’m surprised that the main page for this restaurant says«No» under«Good for kids». I’m sure that’s not what their target market is, but they’ve taken steps to make sure families are welcome. The bar area is completely separate, and they have high chairs, a kids menu, a fun kids activity/coloring sheet, etc. In particular the kids menu pleases us; some good choices and every meal comes with a veggie plate. Usually at restaurants we get shuffled to a corner with our kid, but at SJP we’re treated the same as other customers. The restaurant’s location is a bit inconvenient to get to(depending which direction you’re coming from) but it’s quite close to the Silver City Coquitlam theatres so we like to go there before a movie. I see a few reviews complaining about service but we’ve always been happy with the service we get, and we’re usually there Friday night at prime time. If you have a young family and are tired of Red Robin and White Spot, try our Sammy J’s for an adult feel that’s good for kids too.

Well it’s been about 6 months since my last review about this place and my mind hasen’t changed. Been coming here a minimum of twice per week and my daughter absolutely love it here. They have some new items on a feature menu and the ones I’ve tried are awesome.

This place is quite good and exceeded my expectation. I had a bday bogo(from Virgin Radio), and thought it’s convenient to drop by before movie(at silvercity coquitlam). I ordered Tequila Habanero Meatloaf and the sauce was very tasty. Food, service, atmosphere was more like fine dining, not pub food style that I expected. I saw the sign in the front, saying this sammy J takes a reservation for private function.

We held a retirement function there in the private room. Great service, very attentive staff, even with all of us having a stand-up style reception. No problems at all with giving separate bills to 30+ people. Food was great, mostly appy’s but some people went into the restaurant and ordered off the menu… rave reviews. We enjoyed it to so much we’ve been back for other family functions and it’s quickly become a favourite eating spot. We have had great service and food every visit.

If you are desperate, and Dairy Queen and Boston Pizza have completely run out of food and all of their servers are on strike or forgot to come in, then go to Sammy J’s. Their uninspired, greasy food and moody, forgetful waitresses are better than starving and being ignored… I had a beef dip, and the waitress forgot to bring the aux jous. When she was setting my food down on the table, which was almost completely empty, she decides to put it right on top of my phone, which was off to the side… herp…wait for it… derp… The other dishes, mushroom burger and samurai bowl, looked pretty blah too. The verdict at the table was that we weren’t coming back. Thank goodness we had a coupon, otherwise I would have been outraged… Never again. kthxbye!

Friendly staff and clean bathrooms. That’s about it! Prices don’t reflect portion size. The kitchen was a accident waiting to happen All the adults received their food first the kids food came like 4 – 5 min later. This Sammy’s location has slipped! The future looks grim if things keep going this direction.

So… we can a work xmas party here of sorts for 20 people in December 2011. I’d never been, but our staff really seemed to like the idea. So…what happened? 1. They were super attentive to our large group needs(ie. separate bills) 2. They allowed us to pre-order some appetizers which were ready within 5 minutes of our group arriving.(awesome) 3. There was a lot of variety on the menu: I ended up ordering this apple mango grilled chicken panini, which was spectacular and apparently, quite healthy. 4. They also have a gluten free menu, which is pretty awesome of them 5. Finally, their dessert selection was pretty solid as well. The crowd favourite? The Peanut Butter Pie deal… I know it’s not cactus club, but it’s certainly a decent option for dining.

What a difference location makes for a business, as this one is not too far from the Cactus on schoolhouse, which practically makes the same type of food, and serves the same type of clientele. Came in here with some co-workers for lunch, and unlike Cactus, this place was completely dead. It is not a bad thing, but at one point, at about 1PM, we were the only clientele in the restaurant. We ordered some drinks, and a burger and sat out on their small patio. The restaurant itself is a nice size, and the patio has about 8 tables. Not much of a view, unless you like Lougheed Highway, but amazingly enough, even though it is so close, there’s very little car noise. The burger was done quite well, with all the garnishings and fixings, the service was speedy(was this due to the face we were the only ones here?) They have drink specials on most weekdays, and it’s a good way to get away from the busier same-food like places around the area. I think the menu has changed a little, and I don’t remember them bringing out any funny bottled hot sauce!

Went to Sammy J Peppers on Canada Day and found there menu to be not what I remembered. This was however, not a bad thing as I had a tough time choosing what I wanted. The food was speedy, well prepared and very tasty. It is true what the other reviewers have mentioned they do certainly have a theme going when it comes to the type of waitress they hire.
