Unreal bruschetta. Unreal pasta. Service left a bit to be desired but our server may have been new? Anyway, wicked food.

We really like this Italien restaurant for their fresh handmade pasta. We went few times and the service is very good. The best lasagna is there. Tasty.

This place is popular! Came in without a reservation and they almost didn’t have room for us! We had to sit at the bar because they had no tables left. That bar was too ridiculously high. My girlfriend is 5’10 and she even looked like a kid at the table needing a booster seat. So imagine how I felt at a measily 5’3!!! Have never been to any restaurant or bar with bar seating that high. Onto the food: the carbonara is delicious. It definitely needed more cheese and maybe thicker cut pancetta. Their pancetta was more ham that bacon like. Also, for such delicious food, I wanted better Parmesan. But props to the pasta because it was amazing. It was fresh and chewy and glorious. Next time I’m coming for the gnocchi because it looked amazing. Girlfriend had the tiramisu and said it was mediocre at best. It was more like custard than tiramisu. So I guess there’s one thing to avoid if custard isn’t your thing.

Have been meaning to try this place for a long time. Met another couple for her birthday dinner. We shared the antipasto platter. Enjoyed the cold cuts and the crispy prosciutto on this platter. We both had pasta, and they were both well cooked and delicious. We also shared a Tiramisu for dessert. Although the presentation was cute, the portion could have been larger. Overall, I recommend this place.

WOW, the taste of fresh pasta and sauces were AMAZING! The service was lacking(never brought us our salad, and our water was never refilled) but I’d put up with A LOT more than that for that beautiful quality and taste. Hopefully the service gets better, I’ll have to come by a bunch of times to give them some chances. ;) I think I’ve found my new favourite restaurant.

Oh, how I’d missed this place. My boss/friend and I used to go often, a couple years ago, but she had a kid and hanging out after work kind of came to a halt. But we went last week for a late staff xmas dinner, and oh was it ever still delicious!!! We all shared the bruschetta, which is amaze-ballz. They also give you a small basket of hot fresh bread, that you can dip in a swirl of balsamic and olive oil. Yum. I ordered gnocchi with an alfredo sauce *drool*, the other two ordered gnocchi with gorgonzola sauce and the meat lasagna. Bote loved their dishes as well. I’ve been wanting to try their pizzas, because they look so freakin delicious, but I’m a pasta freak, so I still haven’t taken the plunge… yet… We ended with a bowl of ice cream, one scoop or vanilla and one of the pistachio. Both were good, but pistachio was my fav. Give the place a try! It’s small, and usually pretty busy, but everything is made fresh by the cooks, and it shows.

Nice Italian restaurant with free parking! Good selection of dishes and generous portions. Quick and friendly service, but if you’re really in a hurry, try ordering the panini: it’s delicious and ready, they just need to grill it! Simple décor, but reasonably spacious. Nice treat!

an oldie but a goodie :) I have been living in the neighbourhood for 12 years now, and I was at the Golden Boot Caffe for the first time on Saturday. It is a really tiny but clean restaurant. We didn’t order from the menu, we got the daily special dishes based on the waitress’s recommendation. I was blown away. The pasta was obviously fresh, and the tomato and basil sauce is delicious. I would definitely come back again. Tip: If you are with a larger group, please make reservation as this place does get busy.

The food here is great — authentic Italian fare at its best. They make homemade pasta noodles and cook them to a perfect al dente. Last night they even had homemade ricotta on crostinis which my husband said was very tasty. I had spaghetti freschi and the ingredients were all fresh and the meal was very satisfying. They typically have a number of different specials each night which is nice, to change things up. I haven’t tried the dessert but the tiramisu looked yummy. The server was very friendly, though it looked like she was very busy so it was a bit slower than I would have wanted. They are usually quite busy on the weekends, so making a reservation is a good idea.

Very casual restaurant. Our waitress was very nice. Complimentary bread, oil n vinegar to start. Actually that’s my one complaint. Thankfully our waitress used a spatula but I could see another after accepting money taking the bread off the panini grill with her dirty hands. A Food Safe refresher please. It looked like they have many many regulars. At times when a new couple or group walked in I felt like I was in Cheers. «Norm!!» When we received our food I understand why people keep coming back. If we’re in the neighborhood again I’m sure we will too. And prices are very reasonable.

Love this neighbourhood gem! Never disappoints. Authentic Italian food. Friendly staff, great atmosphere. Can get busy during the weekends so make reservations before you go. Try their simple dishes like the Penne Rosa or the garlic prawns — delicious! Oh even the bread is so yummy too.

I’ve lived in Coquitlam for 20+ years and drove by this place almost every day. From the outside it looks a bit like a cheap diner, so I was surprised when a friend raved about their great Italian food. I went during off-hours on a weekday so it wasn’t busy at all, the service was good and the food was delicious. Both my partner and I got sandwiches and were happy with our meals. Reading the other reviews on here I think I’ll have to go back and try the pasta, but I’d definitely recommend this place as a surprisingly good little Italian bistro in Coquitlam.

The Golden Boot 1028 Ridgeway ave., Coquitlam. Classic rustic clean Italian comfort food. Italian as it should be… simple, pure ingredients freshly prepared. Nothing pretentious here… home made from scratch recipes, balanced and flavourful. The best Gnocchi I’ve ever had the pleasure of noshin’. To die for Bruchetta and of course all washed down with bold dark roast fresh coffee. I will be back for the Seafood Canneloni and the Musseĺs. Love that the olive oil and balsamic vinegar is on the table as condiments for your freshly baked bread. You absolutely should go. Do make reservations as the Golden Boot is always busy due to its a modest sized caffe’. Perfect romantic dinner setting. Casual and relaxed… well appointed décor too and very clean. Classic Italian goodness for your face-hole. ‘appy Noshin’ Brianm Fb tumblr

One of our new favorite Italian restaurants. I like the casual atmosphere and that the tables are spaced out unlike Rosa’s. The pizza was a nice thin crust with fresh ingredients. My daughters also loved their spaghetti carbonara. The warm bread with oil and vinegar to begin with is a nice bonus. Would definitely recommend to anybody. It does get busy though so go early if you can.

I came here with my husband before going to see a movie on the strength of the reviews. And the food was everything we hoped it would be. Really delicious, perfectly cooked pasta. I’m always on the lookout for a great carbonara, and since our visit to the Golden Boot I’ve been having cravings for more. My review would have been 5 stars if it weren’t for the lack of service. Everything was great up until we ordered. We were seated pretty promptly, and water, drinks and breadsticks with oil and vinegar brought to our table. Maybe we should have ordered some appetizers, because the pasta took over 50 minutes to come to our table. Our drinks ran empty too. No one came to check on us during the long wait, and our server along with the other server seemed to actively be avoiding eye contact. Finally, we asked another server if she could help check on our dishes. She was immediately very, very defensive, there was definitely no apology for the wait or offer to refill our drinks, not even water. She said they were extremely busy, the kitchen was very small, and that was that. It soured the experience a bit. We’ll probably go back anyway, because the food really was top notch.

Golden Boot definitely has the authentic Italian taste to offer. My group all agreed that this place definitely can compete with the high rated Italian restaurants in downtown and Commercial. It’s great to find something like this here in my hometown Coquitlam. The complimentary bread tastes very delicious when paired with the olive oil and balsamic vinegar. My issue with the restaurant is not with the food that is being served. No doubt the food here is delicious! But when I first went to try was during a Saturday night. Waiting for a table did not take long as there was plenty of seating. But waiting to order, flag down waitresses for water or condiments took very long. The couple beside use even agreed by the signs they gave us with their eyes, as they were waiting for their order to be taken. Paying for our order took 20 minutes of waiting as the waitresses were very busy. I do not blame the waitresses as they were doing a great job, although a few could do better. I noticed some of them just standing there and chatting with their customers and not helping other patrons because they are not her customers. As this was happening more people started to come in, some had to be turned down because there weren’t any seats but actually if they had just took our payment, they could have offered them our seat. All in all I hope they fix the amount of people working in the FOH so that customers can enjoy their dining experience.

I LOVETHISPLACE… a hidden gem in Coquitlam, just off of Austin. The gnocchi with cream sauce. ISAMAZING!!! I am a huge gnocchi fan, when I tried their gnocchi I fell in love. One of my favorite pasta places. Handmade pasta, cooked perfectly, delicious creamy parmesan sauce. The pizza as well is again, amazing. Great flavor, thin crust. Perfect homemade Italian taste. Prices ranging from 14 $-17 $. I always recommend this place to friends/family/coworkers. In fact I am going to have their gnocchi tonight. Drooling already.

I went there with an Italian friend who also happens to be a foodie. But then again, I think most Italians are pretty passionate about their food, so they’re naturally foodies. Anyway, back to the review. My friend and I ordered the gnocchi and penne with vodka sauce and the Pizza Ferrari. First, the server gave us some delicious bread sticks which were fantastic. Each table had set of balsamic vinegar and olive oil so I used that to dip the bread. Yum! When the food came, both of us were just in a very happy place. The pizza was very good. The toppings were delicious and the crust was great. I could taste the love in the dough :) I loved my gnocchi. Not only was the vodka sauce rich and full of flavor but the gnocchi… they had the perfect texture and flavor to accompany the sauce. The only downside to this restaurant was that the price was slightly steep given the portion size, its location, and the décor. But the food is so amazing that it’s hard to not come back.

My partner has been raving about this place for over 8 months. We couldn’t be here any earlier because this neck of the woods is very ‘out there’ from where we live and hang out. I am glad we finally made it out here because I have to give the Panna sauced gnocchi a perfect 10. I love gnocchi. I love the shape and the texture of it. I love it how you can take a simple gnocchi recipe and make it your own by using different types of potato, yam, flour to potato ratio. I love how simple it is to cook gnocchi and how versatile it is with any sauce you can think of, cream, rose, red, or green. My partner and I shared a plate of gnocchi. We shared because we knew white sauce can be very filling. Instead of forcing our food down we wanted this dining experience to be a pleasant one. Our order was a plain Jane visually. I tasted the sauce first. The consistency of the white sauce was perfect. It coated the fork just right and the butter wasn’t greasy. The seasoning was bang on to, for me at least. It’s slight a tad mellow so when you add the Parmesan cheese, the taste was perfect. The texture of the gnocchi was foreign to me in a good way. It’s in between soft and«with a chew». Every gnocchi was shaped and sized slightly differently because they were hand-made. I was just impressed by the fact despite the difference in shapes and sizes, all of the gnocchi were cooked through. The inner dough wasn’t harder than the outer. I have no idea how this can be achieved but this so called simple white sauce gnocchi was anything but ordinary. It’s a dish beyond techniques and skills. I would come back here again and again to try their other menu items. I heard they hand-made all the pasta in house and sell to neighborhood restaurants. I heard their lasagna was a hit too. Can’t wait.
