Buddy’s is Edmonton’s oldest and most recognized gay dance bar, located on Jasper Avenue in the downtown, right below gay pub Woodys.
There is a dance floor with cages for those who like to show off more than the average bear (no pun intended). There are two bars, two sets of bathrooms (including a unisex one), pool tables, lounge & private seating, a live DJ, coat check, and cover charge (about $ 5).
They play mostly Top 40 and dance hits and get pretty busy on weekends, and is a fun place to go dancing with your gay AND straight friends!
There are other bars & pubs around Buddy’s, in case you wanna do some hoppin’! #yeglove

I stopped by Buddy’s during the Pride weekend, and man what an atmosphere! Buddy’s is unlike any other bar that I have been in to. Men there actually dance, there aren’t any creepy lurkers, they’ve got little cages to dance in… It’s got all the elements there for a good night, and I certainly had an awesome time when I was there.
My only qualm was that there were people dancing in just their underwear… Like yes, I understand it gets hot and all, but I really don’t want weird parts of your sweaty body touching my body. Other than that, I really like this place and will be back on another bar adventure.
