The food is really good. The staff are usually attentive and polite. They have some cool décor, some great beer but could use more beer selection. I would love it they had more U.K. Import beer. Overall a great local watering hole.

Love this place! Food is above average for«pub style» food. Pretty decently priced and it has amazing live music. Wednesday’s are a blast here with Duff when he hosts open mic!

This was my 1st time here, we popped in after being at the Rocky Horror Picture Show at La Cite(I’ll get to that one after this) it was a Wednesday and much to our delight it was open stage night! We sat at the bar and our bartender was quick, friendly and knowledgeable about what they had to offer and gave us a couple of suggestions. They had a nice selection of British beers both on tap and in the bottle/can, which is awesome for me because I tend to prefer the ales, stouts and of course Guinness to most lagers. We didn’t have anything to eat so I can’t comment on the menu, but I would like to come back and see what sort of Irish fare they are offering up. The space looks like like it could be in Ireland, rustic and cozy, wooden tables and chairs, a small stage and if it wasn’t meant to be. I’m sorry, a nice little dance floor. It was quite busy when we 1st got there, possibly with friends and family members of the musical guests, all of which were super friendly to talk to, it definitely has a nice everybody knows your name kind of vibe. As for the entertainment, they were all great, very talented bunch of musicians we have in this city, I’ve always been a huge fan of live music, and the variety of genres they covered was a refreshing change from what you generally find elsewhere. It’d be interesting to see what happens there the rest of the week, if it’s at all like Wednesdays, count me in! I think the only downside for me would be that I don’t live closer to it so that I could frequent it more often!

Used to be Devaney and that got sold then they re-opened by the university where the Hudson‘s used to be, before that it was a pub called Froggies or something like that and in the very very old days was then Morrisson meat market a butcher shop so that building is quite historic as you will notice when you walk to the west side of the bar specially if your drunk, the floor is quite uneven. Hollywood came here and filmed a movie Cutbank so the pub is made famous now. I live real close to the place and we all have the same complaint now, it got quite pricy since the takeover and the food quality has changed too we all noticed. Guiness is on tap but way overpriced. they do have quite a good variety of tap beers though. The atmospehere of the pub is what most people keep coming back for, its a very nice pub and very unique with a small patio in the back and staff is very friendly and fast too! Live music some nights but gone is the famous celtic sunday nights.

This is our Wednesday night«go to». It’s open mike night hosted by Duff Robison.(Not Robinson) Bottles of wine are half price. 12 inch, 2 topping pizza is half price. The music is always good. Service with a smile, even when they are getting slammed. Sports on the big screens. This means a full house on hockey nights. There is a patio out back which is pretty cool in Summer. Decent beer selection. Oktoberfest is on now. Technically it’s off Whyte ave, but I’m listing it on «cool East Whyte Ave».

What can I say about this pub? A neighbourhood gem. The best patio, personable, amazing servers and the food– next level pub food. Best wings in the city, and their UK fare is awesome. I will be heartbroken if I ever have to move out of the neighbourhood and won’t have this within walking distance anymore.

I go to Duggan’s for lunch sometimes, or after work for a few drinks. I have only eaten there once(pizza bread… yum!), I’ve never checked it out at night, and I only go there alone, so I’m not the best to recommend it to folks who wanna know these types of things. I do, however, love the service and the Irish pub atmosphere, as well as its out-of-the-way location. I have not checked out the patio just yet either, but I do know they have one! My one suggestion! Please lower the damn bar! Ha I Heart Edmonton,

Not going back. The new owners really know how to ruin a place. This place used to have a lot of regulars but not anymore. The new owners have steadily raised the beer prices so now it is totally unaffordable to go have and a couple drinks with friends. Some of the regulars complained about their ridiculously high beer prices and were then banned! The regulars have found other places to go. There are many pubs to go to and you don’t have to pay $ 7 for a pint at Happy Hour. Skip this place unless you like paying extremely high beer prices.

Came looking for a local haunt for decent brunch. Have had a pint or two here before and wanted to try out the breakfast. Menu small, and a little limited. She mentioned the menu will be overhauled soon. Service was great, she was very friendly and efficient with the coffee. Omelette was overcooked and dry, and very disappointing for a $ 13 omelette. It was to the point that I didn’t finish it. I probably won’t be back.

The server was great but most of the food was terrible. Wings were good but our main course was not good at all. We ordered burgers with fries the fries were soggy and the portion was small for the price of the meal. The patty looked like the type you buy frozen from the grocery store — cookie cutter shape, bland, and didn’t resemble ground beef. Also, the place has a smell of sewer when you first enter and in the women’s restroom. I may go back for drinks because it is in my neighbourhood but won’t be my first choice to eat. It’s a shame. It was better when it was devaney’s.

After the farmer’s market in the French quarter, we always stop in for beers and pub food. Beer is always cold, the crowd is friendly regulars, and the food is familiar and delicious.

Duggans Boundary is a quaint little Irish Pub located off the beaten path in the heart of Bonnie Doon. Literally, if you BLINK, you might just miss this place. One of Edmonton’s best kept secrets this pub has been around for years despite the many name changes.(formerly ‘The Frog and Nightgown’ and most recently ‘Devaney’s Irish Pub’). This pub is unique as it draws in a vast variety of customers ranging from 18 to 80. There is a laid back and strong friendly neighborhood vibe. Here you will notice many regulars and after a couple visits almost everyone, staff and customers alike, will know your name! Wednesday’s offer an open mic night which draws in s variety of different local talent. And every weekend you can count on live entertainment ranging from the likes of local favorites such as Duff Robinson and Derina Harvey, to name a few. Saturday snd Sundays this pub offers ALLDAYBREAKFAST which is great especially if you’re a little sluggish from the night before! Some menu favorites: Traditional bangers and mash McCarthy’s Lamb Irish Stew Irish Boxty Definitely a cool place to check out if your in the mood for an Irish pub.

One thing you should know about me is that I love pubs. No, not clubs. Pubs. And if you’re into those too then I believe you would like this place. To be honest I have yet to try the food menu, as when I drop into this hidden treasure it is to grab some drinks with my boss and coworkers or to show some of my beer-loving friends the gem that is Duggan’s. Overall, I’ve had many good experiences here, such as having my very first New Castle beer, which I am now addicted to, and some that were not quite up to par. The only thing I could complain about is the lack of attention by our waitress on multiple occasions but to be fair, it was usually packed inside. All in all, I enjoy this establishment and will return.

Prices: OK, not too expensive not too cheap $ 5.50 Sleemans on Thursday. Food: 2 stars. We got the Sharing Appetizers platter, and it looked like it was straight from Frozen. Nothing special. $ 24 Atmosphere :4 stars. They are truly a neighborhood pub. The age group in there was between 18 – 68. There seemed to be no reason to go there, but the warm cheer and the service were both great. If you want to experience a local pub feel, this would be a great place to check out. Not big and trendy like MKT, worse food than OJs, but homey and friendly. I’ve given this place 3 stars. I’d go there again if I was nearby, but I wouldn’t go out of my way for it.

Duggan’s Boundary, yet another one of the best kitchens for pub food in Edmonton. The burgers are delicious as is pretty much everything on this menu. If your not going for the food, they have live music on a Friday or Saturday nights, Call to confirm because I’m Not sure if they have one every weekend. Always a great time and always great food at Duggan’s Boundary. Cheers folks.

Favourite weekend breakfast joint! Breakfast is served until 4 pm. During my first visit, I had the breakfast burger; it was just okay. The egg in the burger was burnt on the bottom, so the brown bits weren’t very appetizing. Probably better to have the eggs steamed like in an egg muffin sandwich. Today, my band mates and I had the traditional breakfast. Nonetheless, my pint of Granville Island washed it down pretty well. Generous servings for under $ 10! So, Unilocalers, go ahead and sleep in!

Great pub atmosphere near the Universite Francophone in east Edmonton. They regularly have live music mostly of the folk genre. Daily beer specials. Food is good but not great. Nachos, we had to look for the toppings unfortunately… at $ 14 I expect toppings dag nab it! Pot pies are good but they put a prebaked pastry on top. Waitresses are friendly. Ahh, ya can’t have it all. Two thumbs up.

I stopped in to Devaney’s on Saturday night around 8pm to meet up with some friends who were already there. I’d heard of it in passing before, but I don’t live in the area so never really thought about it. I was surprised that it was already so bumpin’ that early! I have to say I didn’t partake in much — I only had one beer(Granville Island on special for $ 4.75) and I didn’t eat anything. All the food that went by looked yummy and I definitely want to go back for those nachos I saw at the table next to us. The crowd was pretty chill and everyone looked like they were having a good time. A lot of people seemed like regulars. Mixed crowd of 20-somethings to 50+. Hockey was on until about 9pm and then a guy(sorry, didn’t catch his name) started singing with his acoustic guitar. His voice was actually pretty good, so it wasn’t annoying like some entertainment at pubs sometimes. The whole feel of the place was like what so many other«hip» places try, and fail, to achieve. Laid back, chill neighbourhood pub where people are regulars and just go to unwind. Unpretentious and fun. I’m looking forward to going back.

What a great little place! Slightly off the beaten path, and better for it! It’s so warm and welcoming. There’s always an interesting mixture of afternoon rub-a-dubs, students from the Faculte. I love to sit here and people watch over good pub grub and a pint. The boneless pork ribs are delicious and I don’t understand why more pubs don’t serve them. Finally, there is a great little patio around back. Be sure to check it out on a warm day! The servers here are consistently friendly and attentive, if you didn’t already have enough reason to try Devaney’s.

Devaney’s Irish Pub is an awesome place to go for drinks, hang out with friends, and enjoy a night out! My friends and I have been coming here for a little over a year. It’s in a great location, on the Faculte St. Jean campus of the UofA(just off of whyte ave). It is a small pub but a great atmosphere. There are always really interesting decorations on the walls and a nice little patio out back. They have lots of t.v.‘s to watch any sporting event on and every Wednesday is open mic! Fun! I don’t have a voice that carries very well, so it’s nice to be able to go and have drinks somewhere and not have to shout just to chat at your neighbor. There is a large variety of food. They have an amazing steak and mushroom pot pie and their Devaney’s Burger is mouthwatering! They used to have a really great spinach salad but, sadly, it is no longer on their menu. They also have great pizzas and nachos. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever been disappointed by anything I’ve ordered on the menu. The staff is very friendly and have even gotten to know some of our names and favorites! And the prices are very reasonable. Portion sizes are large and everyone leaves satisfied. We have even gone for breakfast on a weekend and it was excellent! Overall, this is a great place to hang out with friends and have a fun night! I try and make it out a few times a month! –Ashley Marie
