Nice lounge in West Ed. The décor and colors give it a fancy feel. There are few tables but lots of couches and chairs. Service was nice and friendly and cocktails were tasty.

Came in for a night cap, and the bartender was so nice. There were a few disorderly drunks at the bar and the bartender was handling them well.

I came to L1 Lounge with a group of Unilocalers before Game of Thrones UYE a few weeks back. I was excited to come because I love the L2 Grill in the Fantasy Land Hotel. The atmosphere was modern and comfortable with many different kinds of seating options from chairs, to couches, to ottomans… Perfect for a long lounge night. The décor was amusing — especially the giant 4 foot rooster wallpaper by the washrooms. Unfortunately, the food was a miss on our visit. The menu itself for the lounge is quite limited and one of our dining partners had allergies that left her unable to try more than half the menu. We shared the pulled pork poutine which claimed to come with real cheese curds but when it made it to us, it was luke warm and the cheese was completely melted on top looking more like mozerella(pic uploaded by Mark K). I was excited to try the Pulled Pork Popovers from the description but they were almost soggy and again luke warm. I adore yorkshires so I was super excited to try them but I didn’t even bother to finish the 1 piece I tried. There were a few delicious martinis we tried including the Horny Devil but service was not the best as one of my other drinks was made with the wrong ingredients but I had to wait nearly 20 minutes to see our server/bartender again. Another issue was the length of time it took to get the food despite letting our server know that we had a 8PM movie to attend… I’m not sure if the food really was slow to come out or not because nothing came out hot. Our friend ended up ordering the donair style nachos which really seemed like ground hamburger with a bit of donair style seasoning — I would not recommend these to anyone that loves a good donair. We tried a few other items, but again not good enough to be memorable :-( I’m not sure if it was an off night or if the food served to L1 does not have the same priority as L2… but it sure doesn’t make me want to order off the menu again. The location is ideal while waiting for your movie upstairs in Scotia Bank Theatre WEM which is why we chose it. I will probably come back again for this very reason. While I wish there was a 2.5 star option, I just cannot warrant a 3 star when the food was disappointing and the prices are higher than most other options in WEM.

Completely agree with the Team E review. All these other reviews are completely fake! They went into more specifics that lined right up with our experience. Empty bar on a Saturday night for us 4 as well. Terrible slow service, over priced, terrible food. Brave the crowds of Bourbon street, its worth it.

As hotel lounges go, this is quite elegant and sophisticated. Menu is simple and light. Food to try, Calamari Salad. Quiet for dinner, but perfect if you want a nice meal with your significant other. Service is great, friendly.

As far as Hotel Lounges go, L1 certainly is chicer then most in town. The haute couture orange and black décor is simply stunning and the glossy black chandeliers are too cool! However, a beautiful room does not always translate into a successful establishment. They are never busy, in all the times I’ve been in I’ve never seen more then a handful of other people, and often I have been the only guest. As well, they don’t ever seem to have great staff(but in a place that’s never busy you must not make much in tips, hence, they can not keep good staff). Maybe if this was in a «normal» hotel, not a hotel in the largest mall in NA, would it do better. The fact is there are a dozen other pubs, restaurants and lounges in the mall. If you are staying in the hotel, or are going up to the theatre and want a quick drink, I totally recommend stopping in, at least you will be somewhere that looks good!

Let’s get this straight. Any positive review is probably a fake. This turd of a place ranks amongst that absolute lowest of places«E» has been to. What a joke. We will do this as a listed review, ending in a «wtf» as to why we should NOT have called the cops and had them charged with theft. #1: When your bar is EMPTY on a Saturday evening, do not blame your bartenders for the 25 minute delay from the moment an order was placed, to the time the drinks arrived. Are you kidding me? FAIL #2: When a food order is placed for BASIC appetizers that are PRE-MADE such as hummous and dry ribs, do NOT blame the kitchen for the delay when your bar is EMPTY. It took 70 mintues to get our food. And your damn bar was EMPTY! FAIL #3: Do NOT serve the people who came in 30 mintues after us their ENTREES before we got our appetizers. I HOPE it is not because they were white, and we were Italian and Asian. FAIL #4: Do NOT rip us off on our bill. You short changed us probably because your service was so shi**y and took a tip off the money you owed us on our tab because you KNEW you would not get a tip. That is THEFT honey, and the only reason we did not pursue it with the police is because we wanted to get the hell out of this place. FAIL #5: We were GOING to contact management but our reasoning is the apple does not fall far from the tree. FAIL The day this dead bar goes out of business, the better. And shame on the fake reviews. I hope you rip off the wrong person who has the time and agenda to pursue your THEFT of your customers. We wanted out of there so bad that we didn’t bother… we just wanted to get the hell out and forget this nasty experience. WORSTEVER. The only reason this joke and theiving place got a 1 star is because I couldn’t give a zero. DISGUSTING.

The L1 Lounge is located on the main floor of the Fantasyland Hotel. I’ve attended a few networking events there and it’s a decent place to come for a drink and appie. The place has a combination booths, high chairs and tables, and lounge chairs with circular low tables. They probably chose to mix it up depending if you come for a drink, meal, or to watch the latest game on the tvs. I find it’s not very big in there if you have more than 40 – 50 people there and if people are trying to mix and mingle, the layout may not work the best as it’s easy to stick in one area without a lot of movement. I have only tried a few appetizers in this lounge and drinks. The food was nothing fabulous but decent finger food. The waitress was attentive to pick up empty drink glasses and plates, and enquire if anyone wanted a drink. I’m not really sure this venue works for all type of events but I could see it may work for smaller work functions where people can sit back and enjoy chatting, drinking, nibbling goodies, and watching the game. A bigger group may also find it can get noisy and crowded. For events, I would likely be back but not to come for lunch or dinner with other options in the mall.
