This restaurant has a great vibe. It is nice and cozy but makes you feel very welcome to be there. Even when making the reservation I could feel that the owner was excited to have us eat at his restaurant and you can see the pride in the workers while we were there. It was a packed restaurant on Saturday night so I definitely recommend a reservation. I had the dinner special of a snapper nettuno. It was absolutely amazing. The fish was cooked perfectly in a breaded crust, covered in crab meat and shrimp and doused in delectable cheese. I also had gnocchi as a side. These were very light and fluffy. My wife had the veal cannelloni. It was definitely large enough to share. She liked it but wasn’t anything special. We also had the house made tiramisu which was a real treat and highly recommend. The special was more expensive but their regular meals are fairly priced. We will definitely be coming back.

Best CALAMARIINTHECITY, or that I have ever tried! Lightly battered!!! Amazing!!! Always order!!! I have even done a pick up order and it stayed very tasty. The gnocchi is a must, another menu item I always order. Just go, make a reservation!!! I have tried most menu items and have always been satisfied. Its good Italian cooking. Food is always consistent! Been coming here for years!

Best value family italian in the city. Hands down! They are so accomodating here, they really try to make sure you feel like family. The food is great and the prices are incredible. Truly great value with huge portions for the price. We recently did a big group of 12 and had some nice wine and appetizers, followed by mains and dessert, and they did a great job. The Osso Bucco was divine, super succulent, and a great preparation. We always get some charcuterie to start as antipasti. They have great house wine and some nice bottles of Amarone for those special nights. Say hi to Lino the owner, he is usually there making sure everyone has a great expereince.

The lady who served us was super sweet and the food was amazing. It was very small and crowded, so I recommend making reservations. The pizza wasn’t quite up to par with Famoso’s or Tony’s, but the(apparently HOMEMADE!) pasta was incredible, their salads were a good size to split with someone as an appetizer, the entrées are AMAZING and it’s a cute little place. However, a little bit pricey… The cheapest pizza is(I believe) 18 $ and all the mains are 20 $-40 $

As other reviewer have stated, the food here isn’t at the level it used to be. The last two times I’ve come here, I was disappointed. The food seemed to be lacking the«wow» quality and taste I used to depend on Piccolino’s for. I actually have not been back in many months, and sadly, unless one of my friends or family members wants to go, I probably won’t be back.

Maybe we went on an off day? Looking at all the good reviews I was surprised at the underwhelming experience we had. Service was sub par. We weren’t even informed about the specials. Food was not the best. Afterwards I told my husband I would have preferred Boston pizza. The salads were ok. We tried a tomato salad and a Caesar. Nothing too exciting. My greatest disappointment was the gluten free pasta. They substituted rice vermicelli noodles in the dish. This just doesn’t work because they are so thin and dry. My dish had no flavor because of this. Or maybe it just had no sauce on it. My husband had chicken parmigiana with pasta and didn’t enjoy the pasta sauce at all. He even threw out the leftovers which he never does. We won’t be back for sure. There are way better Italian restaurants in the city.

This is a great place for good meal with friends. You will definitely require reservations. The best part of this restaurant is the great treatment by the owner upon entering/leaving. The food portions are large and rich in flavour. The calamari, the bocconcini balls and the shells pasta are must try. Parking is outside the front door. Location is easy to get to. Only downside to this restaurant is its décor. Very dated and boring. The prices are a little rich based on location/décor and atmosphere but considering you need a reservation i dont think anyone else is complaining. Highly recommend this place. Good ‘ol Piccolino’s, what can I say about this place other than it’s been an Edmonton staple for years. Back in the day, Piccolino Bistro and Tasty Tomato were the Italian hot spots. It’s been a few years since my last visit so I decided to check it out on a Friday for a quick lunch, which I’ve never been to previously. The place is exactly the same as I remember. It reminds me when you leave home for the first time and come back for a visit. It’s like nothing has changed since you’ve been gone. Back to that feeling of home and comfort. Piccolino’s is just like that — the staff greet you when you first enter the door and shout out goodbye’s when you leave. The service itself was decent but we did have to wait awhile to get our orders in — when we asked for one more minute to decide, our waitress deserted for at least ten. They have a separate lunch menu, which I would bet money on hasn’t changed since they first started dishing out food to Edmontonians(is this place still a hot spot for Oilers?). The lunch menu is jam packed with items — soups($ 7 – 9), salads/antipasta($ 7 – 16), sandwiches($ 12 – 17), pizzas($ 14 – 18), pasta($ 11 – 16), and meat($ 17 – 21). Wow, sandwiches are crazy expensive. You might as well order a meat entrée for that price! Or just go to Café Amore’s for their Panini’s which are half. Just sayin’. — Gnocchi Al Forno($ 13.95) — this was the dish I ordered. Definitely a winner. SO much gnocchi, good luck finishing it! The gnocchi are homemade sauteed in a tomato cream sauce, baked with parmigiaro cheese, fontina and mozarella cheese. The sauce was delicious — thick, oozy goodness. The plate was piping hot when it came out and the mixture of all those cheese with the sauce was divine. You could easily share this with two. — Gamberi Capellini($ 14.95) — angel hair pasta with green peppers, shrimp in a garlic cream sauce. The shrimps are those baby sized ones and there wasn’t a lot of green peppers either. The sauce was creamy but I didn’t get much hints of garlic in it. We both agreed that Piccolino is good but leans more to home cooking, Italian comfort food. Nothing wrong with that. Good portions and tasty food, Piccolino is still an Italian staple in the west end. Even more so given how little options there are on the west side.

Always an amazing experience, this Italian Bistro carries the essence of Italy with the soul of saints. Always greeted and entertained by Lino(owner), the experience is always welcoming and very much like a family gathering. Food is of the highest quality and prepared by passionate chefs who value their craft, attention to detail, and ensure the finest ingredients are used in the preparation of amazing food. The Ossobuco is a favorite of mine, with lamb and pasta dishes very close in preference. You will never be disappointed.

Ok I know that this place had some sketchy reviews but I have to say that I had a great experience here. The pasta was fresh and really tasty. We had the lobster ravioli and it was prepared perfectly. Then we shared the lamb shanks and the meat was falling off the bone and seasoned well. I really enjoyed our whole meal. The service was impeccable that night and our waitress was really attentive. At the end of the night the owner came to our table and asked if everyone was happy. I am not a regular so this was surprising! I will be back. Only downside was the lack of parking and there is NOHOSTESS table so you are standing there like an idiot drooling over everyone’s meal. There is literally no where to stand and wait! Anyways me likey!

I have been to Piccolino for dinner probably 5 times in the last 10years. It hadn’t visited in a while, and I had a meeting on the west end so thought, «hey, lets meet there for a late lunch». My lunch companion got there before me, and it was about 10mins before 2pm, which is when they close between lunch and dinner. The waiter wanted to turn us away but thankfully Lino’s Mother was there to welcome us in. I have always thought of Piccolino’s as a solid 4star, unfortunately the food this time did not rock. It was good, don’t get me wrong but it wasn’t that soul lifting, Italian comfort food, that it has been in the past. I will though be back. Every place(especially if they have been wonderful in the past) deserves a second chance. And maybe next time I will go back to my previous fave dish; the stuffed shells!
