Considering Edmonton is Canada’s 5th largest city, it’s quite disappointing that this is considered a «high-end» night club… or as their website states«Privé is a fashionable entertainment establishment in the heart of downtown Edmonton, catering to the most exclusive clientele.» A group of us wanted to check out Prive Ultralounge, a nightclub in downtown Edmonton. I had made guestlist for 02-20-2016 via online through the website, and someone from their team contact me and confirm our guest list reservation within 24 hours. Quick response. «Guest list ends at 10:00 pm sharp; therefore, we advise all guests to show up in advance to ensure entry before 10:00 pm.» Now the night came, we arrive for our 10:00 pm entry. Guest list does not mean no line, no cover here. There was a line when we arrived, it moved somewhat like the speed of a turtle, or is it a tortoise… and cover was $ 20 per person. As i learned throughout the night, there are different types of «guest list» here. Apparently there is one where you would pay for a «package» and that offer lasts til about 11:00 pm. I’ve also overheard as well that the outside staffs will offer bottle service to the people lining up outside for and exchange with entry into Privé. Their bottle service on the weekend is a min. Order of 2 bottles at $ 250 per bottle. Now, you would think a «fashionable entertainment establishment» would use a black-light stamp for entry for their«exclusive clientele»… nope not here, how one would verify payment of entry here is with a black SHARPIE marker that is drawn on your right now. Even the«ghetto» nightclubs in Calgary and Vancouver would be using a black-light stamp or some sort of stamp, not a SHARPIE marker. Let’s talk music, it was alright. The DJ’s song transition into the next song were quite choppy throughout the night. Definitely something to work on… unless that is the norm here for the Edmonton night scene. The dance floor is narrow and long within the building. Washrooms(toilet stalls) were small but clean. All and all, i don’t think i would return. There are far better clubs… they’re just 3 hours South, just saying. Note to all the guys, expect to wait for 1.5 hours or more for entry. This is the description of the night. It was an R&B Party friday night, lady friend and I went early just to get in cuz rumor has it its hard to get into this place, plus I was meeting another buddy there. We lined up in the wrong line, apparently their is 2 lines: one for bottle service, the other for walk ins. Whatever right, we get in, they charge $ 20 cover??? Um… besides the music, what is the $ 20 for? That doesn’t even include coat check yet. Sorry last time I checked, this is Edmonton, not Las Vegas, Not Los Angeles, not even Vancouver. Ridiculous for a door charge. And you even let in kids with sneakers into the building. Hey Prive, do your homework, learn how to bring in the individuals who appreciate the décor and atmosphere, not 18 yr olds running around, bumping into everyone like a high school dance. Oh sorry, thats what you were going for, understandable, no wonder you charge high school dance fees at the door. This place has potential, but doesn’t seem to be able to separate itself from other bars around Jasper to them trying to make themselves look elite… oooh, they do bottle service… yippee kayey… so does Diamonds and your 2 half naked dancers, they were kinda weak sauce… Oh and Prive needs to work on its website, they say Guests can indulge in the latest sensory innovations while escaping into a world that transcends professional service, classic seduction and sophistication.” Your doorman aren’t really that professional, they can’t even handle a guest list or line up right, if you call seduction with 2 masked girls that barely sway their hips, ok… and sophistication, cuz the guy you let in with white sneakers, black sweat pants and the matching sweat top… hahaha…this is all a joke.

Just wondering why you’re only open Friday and Saturday nights. Why aren’t you open seven days a week? Just curious. I’m from Montréal and also travel to Vegas every couple of months. The high-end and amazing bars bars that I frequent are open seven days a week. Just curious? Your comments?

It’s trying to be a high class joint, it misses the mark. I think it caters to the Asian community, last night was not a great night for us. We moved on.

I ended up going here last night for a special event where they had a guest DJ in town. This was an amazing time. The crowd at prive is from 20 – 30 and the atmosphere is very energetic. The club is all about dancing. There are a few places to sit down but it’s all about getting your dance on. The music was a all electronic house and trance music that kept people wanting to come out on the floor and keep the party going. I will definitely be back next time I’m in the mood to party.
