Smith & Wight Opticians

First time visiting this place and it was absolutely amazing. Dr. Somji went above and beyond using state of the art equipment that showed the back of my eye in high definition. It was definitly the most thorough eye exam I have ever had. He spent time explaining every test he was doing and why. He was also very good with my two kids (who do not usually like doctors) and they have already asked when they can go back. The opticians helped me pick out a wonderful pair of glasses that I get compliments on every day. I am so glad to have found a place that can take care of me and my family’s eye care needs

THE place for glasses in Edmonton!
First of all, the service is excellent! Friendly and knowledgeable staff that have an abundance of patience and eagerness to help you find the right pair of glasses. They hunt down the pairs of glasses amongst thousands of pairs that match your wants and needs.
The selection here is incredible. There are literally thousands of pairs. The glasses range in price, so if you are on a tight budget, there are still many fashionable pairs to choose from. They also carry some high end brands like Face a Face and Alain Mikli that are hard to find anywhere else in Edmonton. Karim, the owner, goes to all the fashion shows each season to bring back the latest styles and trends as well as to replenish the classics. I’m not joking when I say that when you see someone with a great pair of glasses in Edmonton, and you ask them where they came from, 95% of the time they will say Smith & Wight.
I recommend Smith & Wight to anyone who asks about glasses, and I will keep purchasing all my glasses here as well.

I love this Place!
Hands down this is the best and only place in Edmonton that has great frames (one of a kind).
They take pride in having the most recent fashionable frames/​glasses in town. If you select one pair you will be the only one in Edmonton to have those frames. They frequently go to Europe for the newest and latest trends.
I am very impressed with their customer service, the moment you walk in the door to the moment you step out.
I have been coming to this location for glasses since 2005, so 10 years and they haven’t disappoint.
The only recommendation I have is to not use their Optometrist, I have seen him and had to get a second opinion. He was too fast and did not seem to have the same care as some Optometrist would. I felt as though he was rushing me out the door. Regardless I saw another eye doctor which was way better and I was given a stronger lens after.
I recently bought 2 glasses from them, one was a Christian Dior and the other was a Marc Jacobs sunglasses. I am so happy with them and had a lot of compliments.
I will definitely be back, I have recommended this place to all my family and friends (even strangers).

We have been clients since the 80’s. Great selection of frames. Always excellent service. Karim and Christine are awesome. We left Edmonton 11 years a go but come back to Alberta to Smith & Wight.

Great place… Oakley dealer that goes above and beyond.
They make sure the fit is good, and that you’re happy before having you pay.
Because they’re optical devices from an optician, there’s no tax, either… Bonus!

I think this is a great place. They have an awesome selection of frames and in many colors. It is sometimes hard to find something perfect for yourself right off the bat but they have so many to pick from that you will definitely find something if you look carefully.
The place is always busy so it is hard to get help sometimes but when you do the staff is really nice. They go out of their way to the extra mile for you. The prices are decent and you can sometimes bargain them down. Especially if you have been coming here for years.

The Good: They have an amazing selection of frames. As an avid collector of eye glasses (I have them in almost every color: green, purple, blue, etc …), this is the only place I will buy my frames. They have designer frames from Sweden and Italy, and some very unique one-​of-​a-​kind frames. Everyone always asks where I get my glasses!
The Bad: The service is horrible. It’s always busy and the staff is condescending. I am the type of customer that likes to shop and choose without any help so this doesn’t bother me. Regardless, I will keep coming back because their selection is truly unbelievable.
