Let me say this first… I am against paying retail price for anything so my biggest knock against this place is their prices. If you don’t shop online and are ok with paying MSRP then you will have no issue with shopping here. The staff are attentive, sometimes overly so, and friendly. Though I haven’t bought a knife or flashlight here they have a good selection of these tacti-cool items. There’s some junk to be sorted through but if you stick to brands you recognize you will be alright. I’ve purchased a few small, inexpensive items here and my experience has been good. Certainly it’s better to have them around than to have to order something online, especially most recently when I was leaving for a trip and needed a bag in a hurry.

They have some pretty cool stuff. I bought some of the most comfortable pants I’ve ever owned. Who knew army pants were this great?! You can buy just about anything you would expect to find inside a shop like this. The service was helpful, although the stock is a little disorganized. The shop feels a little small. For such a busy West Edmonton Mall location, you would think the store should be larger. They’ve even run out of space for their stock and have resorted to filling one of their change rooms — effectively eliminating half of their change rooms. If you’re the kind of person that likes this stuff, the stock they cary is pretty cool and I’d suggest checking it out. Expect it to be busy. If you don’t like tight spaces or crowds avoid it altogether. They have some sort of organized chaos in there, but you’ll need to partner up with one of the sales staff to make any amount of sense out of the mess.

This place is kind of pricey, but it has a decent selection of military apparel, law enforcement equipment, and martial arts paraphernalia. Which, coincidentally, are all things that I need and/or use on a regular basis. The staff are friendly, but sometimes it’s a little hard to grab their attention, as I’ve never been in here when it wasn’t busy.

I wandered in here one day looking for stuff for my Tank Girl halloween costume and walked out with several knives… interesting experience to say the least. Supply Sergeant is a bit expensive if you’re looking for costume props like I was, but that’s because they carry quality items, not the heavily used stuff you’d typically find at army consignment stores. I ended up passing on the stuff I’d have bought for the costume(based on my pretty low Halloween budget) but continued to look around the store. On the last camping trip I went on, I unfortunately lost my set of throwing knives(I’m obviously not very good with them.) I was attracted to a set of inexpensive knives I saw while in the store, and asked to see them. The sales associate immediately questioned my choice, and explained(with a demonstration) that the knives for lack of a better word sucked. He showed me several other options that I would not have considered, and let me handle all of them in order to help my decision. I picked out a set that was within my price range and was actually good quality. I also needed to buy a machete for a trail blazing adventure my boyfriend is taking me on in a couple weeks. I’ve only been trail blazing once before so I didn’t have my own knife. The same sales associate helped me find one(it ended up being a large bowie knife, since the machetes there were a bit awkward for my tiny girl hands.) He was very patient with my lack of knowledge but didn’t make me feel dumb either. He explained everything I should be looking for and what the most important factors were for someone like me(a noob) wielding big sharp objects. Overall, I was very happy with my experience there. I got good quality products that I felt comfortable with at a price I was willing to pay. The knowledge of the staff was much more than I would have expected for a mainstream store, so I was pleasantly surprised. Obviously, I’d recommend them to anyone shopping for a knife!

Supply Sergeant is a unique store to say the least. They carry military collectibles, combat clothing, bags, dog tags, survival gear, etc. It is interesting to check the store out and see what kind of things may be seen in combat but I wouldn’t buy anything from here. Most likely I am not in the army. I can see kids going here with the wrong idea of getting combat gear to use for fun. That could lead to trouble but I’m sure the store uses good judgement in who they deal with. Overall it’s a pretty neat store but personally I don’t have much use for it.
