Best restaurant! I could eat here everyday. Everything is amazing, the lettuce wraps, burgers, rice bowls. Best beef carpaccio I’ve EVER tasted. Hands down best key lime pie in the world, the cheese cake is amazing! I could go on and on about every single thing on the menu. Mmm…

While a chain, this place serves up a pleasant atmosphere, good food and friendly staff. Nothing exceptional, but a nice change from some of the usual pedestrian fare found at The Mall. Its outside entrance is both a help and a hindrance — a help in that you don’t feel like you’re in the deep dark mall, a hindrance in the winter in that you need to go outside to take that mid-shopping break.

Came here on a Friday evening for a going away party. I had arranged for a reservation at 5:30, due to it being Friday and knowing it was going to be a busy place.(They don’t take reservations after 6pm). I had a party of 9, so we were seating at a large booth, with room to spare. Our server was really great, catering to whatever needs we had. She was around when we needed, didn’t hover or smother. Drinks flowed(as they should) and we were treated with great respect and kindness. With a vast array of food orders, everything came out hot, tasty, and right to order. There was no complaints about the food at all(I myself had the fish tacos, and am always pleased with them). Other orders included steaks, quesadillas, and sliders. Everyone raved about their dishes. All in all, it was a great experience, and were glad that we chose this restaurant for our small event.

The service here wasn’t too bad overall. We did have to ask for our water 3 times though which was annoying. We had the rocket salad and the raincoast greens both dishes were very good bit the raincoast salad was better. The dressing was so good and light. The spicy pecans were not that spicy and tasty. I would definitely come back

Yum! Came with a few friends, and everyone loved the food and drinks. I had the Raincoast Greens — De-lic-ious! Wouldn’t mind stopping by again. Just a note — the bar is quite noisy, and conversations with 3+ people in a line are impossible. We were there over the Christmas holidays and waited about 20 mins in the bar. It’s not worth it if you don’t have get table, which luckily, we were eventually seated at. SPEAKINGOFTABLESERVICE… Ladies, beware the table servers who find out your man is from out of town. Our server practically sat on my husband’s lap near the end of service. My husband thought she was just clumsy in sky-high stilettos, but my friend and I were sitting across the table and very clearly saw the motive for an tip boost. She left her digits on the final receipt, strangely, after receiving a 15% tip. My girlfriend’s parents, who were seated next to my husband, also witnessed the awkward pick-up. In a casual Edmonton restaurant, does«out of down» translate into DTF in every scenario? Even when the wife, and 60+yo parents are in tow? Girl… you need to learn how to read a table! Dudes, if your from«out of town», go here! +1 star for the solid laugh though.

Well known chain, beautiful décor, comfortable atmosphere. Good service, great menu well prepared, try the Hunter Chicken or the Steak. The dessert is to die for all of them literally just go for dessert and you will love it.

I went to a Cactus Club in Van City years back and quite enjoyed the food. This time around, it was alright. I had the Tuna Bacon Club one fine Saturday afternoon not long ago and I was kinda disappointed by the portion size of the tuna. It was quite skinny. Also the fixins on the sandwich lacked seasoning. It was kinda bland. Maybe there wasn’t enough condiments, I am not sure. I would compare this sandwich to Joey. Difference is, Joey’s Tuna Club is way better. Cactus Club has been around for a number of years and I can see why they would do well. The menu is fairly diverse. It has some intriguing dishes plus your usual mid-level fare. I think with a bit more love to their menu, they could be better. I will probably go back at some point to try something else.

The thing I love about cactus club is their consistency of food and service. It may be a chain restaurant but every location I go to serves the same great dishes with relatively the same consistency. For drinks try their Brazilian and their sangria. My favourites include their beef carpaccio, butternut squash ravioli, duck/chicken sandwich, yam fries, tuna tataki, and Szechuan beans(who knew?). Get their peanut butter crunch bar. You won’t regret it. Cons: some of their summer specials are gross like the watermelon cocktail(very artificial taste) and their ceviche(it was super fishy tasting). Please don’t bring those back.

I love their yam fries but I do love all yam fries. The aioli was perfect. However, what distinguishes Cactus Club is this one dish. It’s The Dish. I consistently return to it and it is consistently excellent. The butternut squash ravioli with prawns. The Butternut Squash With Prawns. It is simply the best dish I’ve ever eaten. The service is what should be expected of a more expensive restaurant, but it’s like that mythological moment where you lock eyes. As soon as I saw my dish, nothing else mattered.

This is a douchebag kind of place. So if you like popping your collar and hitting on the server, or wearing falsies and a short dress in February — I would highly recommend this joint. The music is too loud to hold a conversation, and yes, they do have a DJ, as is standard in a restaurant. The menu is an attempt to upscale Moxie’s. Food and drinks are mediocrely delicious and definitely overpriced. The servers are great, but seriously, my heart reaches out to me — wearing tall black heels, no matter how comfortable, is gonna start to kill after hour six of work. Place is slammed after the mall closes so you could wait anywhere from thirty minutes to an hour for a table. It took over two hours for a three course meal so I hope you aren’t in a hurry. Not my kind of joint because I like wearing jeans and don’t want to yell across the table to my dining companion, but if you have too much money and feel uncomfortable speaking to your date — this should be your pick for the evening.

I’ve only been here twice. Both times for different corporate christmas parties. And that’s how I’d rate this . A great place for corporate christmas parties. They had no problems getting our large group of 20 in and the speed of refilling drink orders and ability to satisfy odd dietary requests or sides were all taken care of no problem. Pros Solid Food Great Service Cons They allow children in(Minus 1 star! Heh) A little pricey for what you get Attached to WEM. Out of towners please make this a 4 star review. It’s the best place to eat by the mall. Final word Is this 3 star restaurant really a 5 star? Yes. I can’t rate it a 5 for myself personally, but if you are an out of towner with children go ahead and give this place a shot!

The atmosphere and décor of the restaurant is excellent and is one of the best attributes of the place. It has a very intimate, cool and modern feel. The food was good, but nothing out of this world amazing. I had the ahi tuna sandwich with a side of yam fries, and my date had the spaghetti and meatballs. Over all it was good food. There was only one problem — We had a group of 8 people, and because of the larger then normal group we had an automatic 18% gratuity added to each bill, which normally I would be fine with tipping for great service. But for this occasion I felt like it was not worth it or was deserved. Sometimes when I go to restaurants with large groups and the waiter/waitress knows that they are getting the tip already included sometimes they don’t work as hard, and that is how it felt this time. We barely saw her and couldn’t find her when needed, and then at the end had no choice but to tip her 18% on bills that were not cheap already without the gratuity included, so she made a lot of money off of us and was barely there. The food was good, but to be honest it would not be my first choice when choosing a more upscale dinner or night out.

A few years ago, I would for sure give Cactus Club a rave review. Maybe I’ve just been here too many times, but I’m never impressed. Their menu hasn’t seemed to change much since they opened. I appreciate chain restaurants that have a feature menu so you can always have something new to try. The past couple times I’ve been here(recently), the service was subpar. I’ll give an example from today. Waitress wasn’t very attentive, we waited for things too many times, she explained the feature dessert to only one person at our table and only brought one dessert menu(for the birthday girl). It was adequate service, but nothing to write home about. The food was good, as it always is. You can’t go wrong with the Hunter’s chicken, short rib, or butternut squash ravioli. Very rich dishes though. I can’t seem to eat here without getting a bit of a tummy ache. They do have a great cocktail menu. I wish I could be a fan, but Cactus Club has lost its appeal to me. If you’ve never been before, you’ll probably enjoy it though.

This was my first visit here. My date and I arrived around 4pm for an early dinner. There were only a few other couples in the restaurant. We wanted to sit on the patio, but since it wasn’t busy we were only allowed options for the bar or restaurant areas, and we chose a restaurant area booth. The atmosphere was nice for a date, dimly lit and romantic. The booths were large, and I image it fitting 4 – 6 people comfortably. We started with the Crispy Yam Fries, and they were AMAZING! I’m addicted to sweet potato fries, but I have never had yam fries that have tasted SO good. I’m now a yam fry convert, haha! I ordered the Szechuan chicken lettuce wraps for my entrée, and my date ordered the butternut squash ravioli for his entrée. We ended up switching entrees, because my szech chicken was too spicy! Normally restaurants that mention spicy aren’t really spicy, but this was spicy and unfortunately not my style. However, the butternut squash was DELICIOUS, and everyone should try it at least once! Our waitress changed shifts during our meal, but they were very polite and both servers notified us of their leave/start. We were never rushed, and both were very courteous and attentive.

I’ve been to Cactus Club a few times before. And I enjoy the food each and every time. The Szechaun Beans had a nice kick of spicy that had looked to have a small chopped up jalapeño pepper scattered throughout. Nice fusion of Asian flavours just right for green beans. Decided on trying out the Grilled Tuna Club but without the bacon. Had to return the first dish as it came with the bacon. Understandable things like this do happen at good restaurants. The second dish came looking nicer than the first. Not sure what was with the ciabatta bread but it tasted like it was a day old and not toasted to my liking. I virtually left the bread untouched. The two tuna steaks were slightly undercooked than I would have liked but still good. The sauce was soaked into the bottom of bread and was not very appetizing at all. The side I picked was organic greens, the waitress only offered one kind of dressing. The dressing had little flavour for the wonderful display of salad. What made it appetizing was knowing that it was organic. Despite the not-so-great experience with the entrée. The sangria special are the best in the city. I believe the secret is in the Bellini ingredient plus with small chunks of fruit in the drink. A hardy drink that’s was worth it… twice. The key lime pie was great with the tart flavour of lime and the right amount of graham cracker crust. Though wish the whipped cream was made from scratch. And if it was it tasted that it came out of a store bought whipped cream bottle. I find that I have an amazing food experience when I come to the Cactus Club many times over. Though I’d stay away from the grilled tuna club and its was all because of the bread. And be wise to ask if the have an alternative to that house dressing they have for their organic greens. Try this chain out! I’m sure you will have a lovely experience.

Why have I not been here yet? Well mostly because if I’m at WEM, by the time I get hungry, I’m not going to wait an hour for a table. This time, my friend and I planned to meet there, have a quick bite, and head off to an event. We actually lucked out, and there was a table open right away when I walked in(the people who came in shortly after me weren’t so lucky and the line started forming shortly after I was seated). I looked through the menu, and picked a basic mojito for my drink, and waited for my friend, who was running behind. I was never bothered or pressured into ordering more while I waited, which was nice. They just left me to my drink and my email on my phone. When my friend showed up they were attentive, and we ordered a couple of appetizers, the lettuce wraps and the edamame. Both of the dishes were quick to arrive, and were hot and fresh. The lettuce for the wraps was crisp and cool, perfect for holding yummy ingredients. The only downside was at the end of the meal, waiting to get our bill and to pay took forever, and we needed to get out to our event, but other than that, the experience was a pleasant one. If we hadn’t been in a rush, it wouldn’t have been an issue.

Great spot if staying in West Edmonton. This location was highly recommended by a few local coworkers, and it lived up to the high praise. The place itself is quite nicely decorated and located outside the mall. We walked in and grabbed a seat at the bar on a slow Monday night. We were greated quickly by a very nice bartender that resembled Lindsey Lohan. We ordered a few beers and our meals. Food arrived quickly and was split per our request. We had the short ribs and split a 9oz sirloin with blackened cajun butter, ordered medium. Both dishes came out with a nice presentation. The short ribs had a very nice Asian flavor and we’re served with snow peas and mashed potatoes. The ribs were fork tender. The steak was ordered medium and was cooked properly to temperature. The blackened cajun butter a was very tasty addition to the steak. We were quite happy with our meal and found the cost quite reasonable given the quality. The service was very friendly and attentive. I look forward to returning in the near future.

Oh. My. Word. I have never, in my life, been so amazed by one dish! It was the butternut squash and prawn ravioli. I took one bite and insisted that my gluten-free, dairy-free husband take a taste too. The dish was so unique and tasty, I just wanted to sit there and savour it without interruption. It consisted of butternut squash and marscarpone ravioli with jumbo prawns. The sauce had what resembled an almost lemony flavour but I later realized it was the truffle butter sauce. My husband had the steak and said it rated right up there with some of the best beef he has had. The service was attentive without being annoying. Overall, it was a great evening and a lovely, surprising treat.

The atmosphere of the Cactus Club is awesome for making you feel like you’re somewhere elegant and sophisticated, perfect for those dreary Edmonton days. Their artwork is lovely and also makes for a good conversation piece if you’re in a pinch. The food is great and they present it beautifully. My personal favourite is the Tuna Clubhouse, though the BBQ Duck Clubhouse is also delicious.(I think I have a clubhouse problem…) The menu has a pretty decent selection and they mark which items are made from recipes out of Rob Feenie’s kitchen, so I guess you can feel like you got the Food Network quality experience? Everything is reasonably priced. I’ve tried quite a few drinks from the drinks menu and they are delicious! The perfect amount of fruity and sweet. I especially like the kiwi one, though I can’t remember the name. Before you leave, stop by the washrooms! They’ve got sweet decorations and couches. Best part of all? The way to flush the toilet is simply by pressing a button on the floor with your foot! No touching icky handles or curb stomping them with your shoe. Woohoo!
