Great bunch of guys and girls working at the Oxford and Clayton Park locations(I assume the other locations are equally well staffed). Lots of great advice and very well stocked in equipment and ingredients. The ‘go to’ place for wine and beer making in Halifax.

Looking to get more involved in your alcohol experience? The Noble Grape provides all the necessities for the making of homemade brews. Wine, beer, labels, bottles, accessories and tools can all be found under one roof! They even sell assorted grains in bulk. Product is the most efficient of pricing, and staff provides expert knowledge of this craft. I ventured in a little star eyed and not sure what to expect. I’d thought this was going to be a wine shop, but not so. The kind worker man gave me a run-though of their general offerings and what this place was all about. He was kind and completely willing to go the extra mile with my skewed concept of the store. If you are a brewmaster in the making, Noble Grape is a shop that knows their body of product all that goes along with it.

Since I did a review on the Noble Grape in Clayton Park, I thought I would stop in at this location. The locations carry the same stock of course, and the staff was equally as nice and knowledgeable. I think these stores are great and I can appreciate the time and effort that goes into making your own wine, as I use to do it. I am on the border of if I want to do it again.

Brew party! Have you ever made your own beer or tasty fermented grape bevies? Me neither, but I have been at the receiving end of the finished product care of a few different friends, and let me tell you — it can be sweet! I went into the Noble Grape today wanting to learn more about the Festa Brew line and boy, was I tickled pink with all of the great details. Steve, the very informative, knowledgeable and personable shop keeper gave me the down low on getting my own home brew up and bubbling. Andrew already has some of the necessary devices(tubes, carboy — jazz like that) so the fun part is what’s left — picking the mix and getting it underway. I sussed out the Festa Brew brand which is made by a well regarded professional brewery. The prices were great — about $ 40 for the package which yields around 23 litres of hoppy goodness. I learned that the HRM water ain’t half bad for brewing, as the minerals add some great characteristics to the end product. But wait, you don’t even need to add water to Festa Brew because everything you need to mix in comes with the box! There are some great starter packages offered, for both wine and beer making, and the great employees can help you pick out the perfect goods to help make your end product a real success. I think that if I do end up doing some brewing, I’m going to go with the Festa Brew Continental Pilsner, which Steve asserts rivals the Czech Urquell. Bottoms up!
