I like this place. Everything is really fresh and the staff are super friendly. Their house made red pepper mayo is to die for. And their turkey sandwiches are made with real turkey. Excellent breakfast as well!

I’m not going to lie, the only reason I walked into this place was because of the name. The service was good and so was the food. I went to plug my phone in and he plugged it in behind the counter because the other was broken. On a downside, the guy was all over the place. Sitting with his friends in between customers, stop making a sandwich to get change for another customer and answering his phone while serving. Good guy, perhaps just an off day.

99% of the time I get wonderful service. I LOVE their veggie feta wrap and they have a ton of other delicious options. However… I went to grab a wrap one day, 15 minutes before close, and the person working at the time treated me with such horrible customer service and attitude that I almost walked away halfway through. She was literally glaring at me, not saying a single word, and pulling the plastic wrap off the containers like it would be the hardest task in the world to put it back on(I have worked fast food and understand the frustrations of people showing up maybe 5 minutes to close but seriously?). ANYWAYS, despite that ONE experience(out of the 20 times I’ve been there), it’s still my first choice when I’m hungry at Scotia Square Mall!

I like the Dill Pickle, I really do, it’s one of the healthier options in scotia square, but almost 9 bucks for a wrap is a LOT for me. I had the feta wrap with lettuce, onions and cucumbers. It was ok, but the lettuce was a bit brown and tasted old. When they ask what sauce you want, none of the choices are on the glass in front of you or on the menu, and none of the bottles are labeled, so you have to choose from what looks like 10 mysterious sauces. Went with my default ranch, still disappointing.

I just read Lori M.‘s review and my thoughts were«samesies» I still think it’s a solid lunchtime option, but there have been some changes since my last review, the upward price adjustment being a major one. Unfortunately, this now makes Tim Horton’s a more viable option for my budget lunches. That being said, the food is still tasty and fresh, and one of the women working behind the counter is possibly the friendliest, warmest, and most delightful person working in customer service in all of Halifax. The Dill Pickle is not a bad option, but not the no-brainer«best lunch deal in Scotia Square» choice it used to be.

I am so conflicted about this review. If you had asked me 3 months ago about the Dill Pickle, I would have said it’s tasty value for a lunch option. So food — Sandwiches, salads, soups. That covers most of it. Cost. Recently they have increased prices significantly(almost 30% on their daily combo). When asked they cited increased rent and supplies costs. I like it, but the cost increase for a sandwich and soup warrants a second glance.

I had a great experience here a few days ago. With a late morning meeting downtown I was looking for a filling early lunch before heading back to my office. Wandering through the Scotia Square mall I was looking for something reasonably healthy but also with enough substance to get me through the day. I tried out the Dill Pickle and the staff were super friendly and efficient. When I asked for the chicken feta wrap and then requested spinach, it turned out I would have been charged extra for spinach, but the server suggested switching to the chicken florentine, which included spinach and my choice of cheese, plus lots of other fresh veggies. I chose feta and voila! Got the sandwich I wanted without being charged extra. My wrap was just over $ 6 with tax included. The wrap was full of fresh veggies, just the right amount of dressing, and lots of chicken. It totally kept me going all day, and made me wish this place was located a lot closer to my office so I could go there again soon.

I always have a hard time reviewing spots where there’s so much customization available for whatever you order. If a sandwich is lackluster, is it really their fault or yours for choosing uninspired toppings and sauces? Well, for the sake of this review, consider it an ‘A-OK’ for the Dill Pickle and a ‘Meh. I’ve experienced better’ for my own sandwich artistry. The Dill Pickle is a one stop sandwich, wrap, and soup shop with a hint of breakfast thrown in for good measure. The menus are quite expansive with base options that you then top however you please with ingredients from their veggie bar and sauce stocks. This is all good news. Where I found it a bit difficult came mostly from the location and set up. Being packed into the Scotia Square food court makes it difficult to really think through what you’re ordering and the noise level makes it really hard for their staff to hear anything you’re saying. There also isn’t much of a spot to spend the short wait between paying and being handed your sammie. The final product was fresh and tasty although with a little more time to think things through(felt too rushed to ask about cheese and sauce options, for example), I probably could have scored something a little more exciting.

So the Dill Pickle is conveniently located to my workplace for a lunch time meal. I’ve seen the prepared food in passing for catering purposes but have not purchased a meal there until this evening(staying late at work, boo). I opted for the chicken pita and salad. I got lettuce, tomato, cucumber, cheese and red pepper mayo on the wrap. It was pretty good, although one half had like 10% sauce and the other half had like 90% sauce. I got the creamy pasta salad, which is okay but I sit here starring at it as it is just way to creamy and is leaving an odd taste in my mouth. Next time I will get the soup or garden salad instead. Everything is quite fresh here so that is a plus! — and it is reasonably priced, $ 5.75 for the wrap and salad, a bit extra for the cheese though.

Not impressed with the Dill Pickle. I ordered the lunch special which happened to be chicken skewers, rice and greek salad with tzatziki. I substituted the greek salad for caesar as I am not a fan of feta or olives. After paying $ 8 for my lunch I sat down to eat. Hugely dissappointed. The salad was all brown. Not just a piece or two brown, all of the lettuce was brown. The chicken skewers were edible but they each had just a tiny piece of green pepper and onion. The skewers did have 3 pieces of chicken each so I will give them that and the taste was meh. The skewers were served on a small portion of steamed rice that was ordinary. The tzatziki tasted like something I could get at the grocery store and has given me horrible breath. Won’t be going back.

The Scotia Square food court is my lunch hour go to place. I was wandering by he Dill Pickle today and as usual the owners and staff will wave and greet you with a smile. As I make my way up through the line a young lady asks me if I want my usual daily special chicken wrap and salad. I always get the wrap with lettuce, tomato and black olives. Make sure to get the wrap grilled and for a little change of pace try the Cajun sauce on it! You will find the lines can be long but make sure to wait as it is well worth it. The staff are very friendly and will not rush you through.

I love me some good dill pickles, so while looking for something tasty to woof down in Scotia Square, I figured I’d stop there. I must say that my first initial reaction was that it was going to be average, if that. I mean we are talking food served on cafeteria trays and stuffed in styrofoam dishes(boo). The line is always rather huge and you immediately have to give them props for being a healthy vender surrounded by grease. They are a family run business and cater great fresh and healthy products. You can even put your order in online. What about the food? There are plenty of healthy options from salads, to soups, to sandwiches. My classic go to is the ½ sandwich and soup deal for like 5 bones. Super cheap! The bread is always fresh with whole wheat, white, and ciabatta options. Tons of veggie and sauce options to sex up your sandy. The roasted red pepper mayo is my fav. I’m not the biggest fan of their pasta and potato salads. They just don’t pack enough flavor for me. Perhaps Mom just doesn’t make it fair for me to compare other salads to. For some reason they just seem incredibly dry and bland. I must say though, Dill Pickle’s cream of mushroom soup is to die for!!! It is the best cream of mushroom soup I’ve ever hard, served in a styrofoam bowl or not. My eyes light up like a Christmas tree when this soup is on the board. It’s rich but not too rich and has tons of thinly sliced mushrooms. I personally like a little something to chew in my soup, so the mushrooms are a seller for me. Their chicken noodle soup is pretty fab as well. Make sure you request soda crackers with your soup though. They like to hide those behind the counter and hog them. Overall this is a great healthy food court option and who doesn’t love locally owned? Get out and grab some cream of mushroom.

I headed to Scotia Square’s foodcourt looking for some breakfast and there was the Dill Pickle. I got the #2 breakfast special … 2 eggs, ham, toast and home fries for $ 3.99. Excellent deal! The staff was very friendly.
