What a charming little lunch spot! I stopped in here for a quick meal with Shannon and we were basically the only people in there. I’m hoping it was due to the time because if not, then Unilocalers in Halifax are missing out. I ordered the soup of the day which was corn, apple, and carrot. It was a purée-type of soup and so, so good. I also had the grilled cheese which is made with cheddar, gouda, and apple slices. For $ 3 more I added bacon, but you had the choice to add bacon, chorizo, or chicken for that three bucks if you wanted. Our server was quite nice, the prices were definitely reasonable, and if I find myself back in Halifax in need of lunch I wouldn’t hesitate to return to Untitled Eats.

I’ve only been working downtown for about a month, but this spot has quickly become one of my favorite lunch spots in the city. I love the minimalist atmosphere, and it’s a very ladies who lunch crowd — great for meeting a friend or two. The menu is mostly divided into 4 sections: soup & salad, sandwiches, small plates and large plates, plus a daily special. There are some nice vegetarian and vegan options as well! The sandwiches come with the option of the daily soup, salad or(homemade) potato chips. There are a few dessert options as well. So far I’ve tried the chicken and grilled leek sandwich, the grilled cheese, a daily soup, the house salad and the crème brûlée. All items were delicious, and I especially recommend the grilled cheese and the crème brûlée. I look forward to going back!

I was pleasantly surprised by this little spot in the Art Gallery. The service was delightful and the food was really good. It seems like a perfect soup & salad lunch place, which downtown really needed. I’m told it’s also a great place for an after-work drink and/or dinner. My only complaint is that the layout and décor makes it feel a little… clinical? I found it hard to relax, as it’s got a quite a bit of a diner feel to it. I might be alone in thinking that, though. All in all, I highly recommend checking out this place.

I’ve only come here for lunch once, but I can’t wait to return. I was looking for a sit-down restaurant in the downtown area that would do nice soups and sandwiches, and realized this place was exactly what I was looking for thanks to the great Unilocal reviews. I had a delicious grilled cheese sandwich and the soup of a day, which was a root vegetable bisque. I’m not even a huge soup person, but I loved it. The combination of flavors was perfect, and it was a pretty hearty meal for the price. One of my lunch companions ordered the BLT(the«L» stands for«lobster» here!) and I’m looking forward to trying that next time. The service was lovely, and the place is licensed. I’m excited to go back and try one of their cool cocktail nights and the $ 5 small plates. This place could very well be a new favorite.

I have become a massive fan of Untitled Eats over the past year, which is incredibly dangerous as I work at the Art Gallery. I had been a huge fan of the Armview for many years and when I heard the owners of the Armview were going to be opening the new restaurant I was extremely excited, and certainly not disappointed. Their menu is seasonal, and features a different(always delicious) Farmers Market soup daily, which is where most of my money goes. They also always have a selection of ready made sandwiches for those of us on the move. They also have a cocktail night on Wednesday evenings, Thursday nights there are $ 5 tapas plates, $ 5 Wine and $ 5 martinis(and they certainly give the Fireside a run for their money), and they have started an after work drinks and DJ night on Fridays, all of which are fantastic for a night out with your friends, or the beginnings of a night out. I have tried many of the tapas plates on Thursdays, and have often ordered seconds they are that good. It is great get a couple friends together to order one of everything and share so you get to try it all. The tapas plates change every week so you constantly get to try new dishes. One of my favorite meals though is the Eggs Benny they serve for brunch on Saturdays. There is just something about their hollandaise sauce that I cant put my finger on, but it really makes it pop. It’s true, my friends will all tell you I am an eggs benny addict, but Untitled has some of my favorite, and I am very fortunate they don’t serve them during the work week or I would be completely broke. On top of all this they cater and mmmm it’s delish! All in all I LOVE Untitled Eats and they are definitely worth the visit, especially for wine and tapas on Thursday nights!

This place sooo good, I went with my hubby and we both enjoyed it very much. We had the dinner and gallery groupon and it was well worth it, even with the Gallery. I had the cheese for my app, steak for main, and the upside down apple cake. They were all sooooo delicious! My hubby had the duck for his app, and I got to try this it was very good, he also had the steak which he loved, cooked to perfection! with amazing sides, potato smothers with cheese and bacon… yum he also had the cheese cake as a desert and he normally doesn’t like chocolate cheese cake, but he really liked this one. This place is expensive, but well worth it! Very good portions and we left extremely full and very satisfied. Our server was very good too, really attentive but no too much… and over all great place!

Lunch visit round two! Like I said before, I absolutely love the vibe that Untitled Eats has injected into the AGNS. It’s just so lovely and fresh that you can feel right at home at any point of the day or night. I’ve noticed the crowd is a bit dressier during the day — likely for business lunches — which is kind of nice actually as a little hit of Halifax swagger. Service was charming and professional as always and a new trainee was so nice that it was easy to overlook a delay in pre-meal cappuccino arrival. One thing I have found is that they’re quick to get you the bill. I’m not sure if that’s to cycle through more folks or just consideration that most people are trying for a fast lunch. Either way, not a big deal. I went for the vegetable sandwich with a cup of the daily soup and it was perfectly portioned for a nice lunch. I was full by the end of it but not quite food-coma full which is perfect for afternoon productivity. The sandwich was very creative –a wrap delicately folded around a blended mixture of ginger roasted butternut squash, root vegetables, goat cheese, and pepper chutney. So delicious! I did find a wee stem of the squash in the sammie but at least that goes to show that they’re working with actual fresh veggies back in the kitchen. Now, had I stopped eating there, I would have been quite satisfied but oh no –how can you stop when there’s an apple cake topped in toffee and bourbon sauce on the menu? You can’t. And you shouldn’t. Because it’s worth every damn calorie.

I am all over Untitled Eats! I went for a lunch date based on a recommendation from a friend and enjoyed everything about it. The menu is very extensive for a lunch menu. They have a variety of sandwiches, main entrees(for the hungry ones), soups, salads and even breakfast/brunch options. I had a hard time deciding but went with the crab cakes and soup of the day. I love a good crab cake and this one did not disappoint. It was made with all meat, no gross potato filler that’s going to make you fall asleep at your desk mid-afternoon. The soup(a creamy roasted cauliflower if I remember correctly) was perfect — not too heavy with cream and just the right amount. The atmosphere was really modern and cozy. For a small space it didn’t feel overly busy so I felt like my date and I had a chance to chat without really worrying about anyone sitting next to us. The server was quick to make recommendations when asked and was very friendly. At the end of the meal, she also told us that they host events during gallery openings which peaked my interest. Having been in the city for almost 9 years(what?!), I’ve never been to a gallery opening. Knowing that I can pay a visit to Untitled Eats before an event to have an app and a glass of wine is very appealing.

It’s not your usual cinq a sept destination on a Thursday night. It’s better. While I’ve only tried a few things on their regular menu(haddock — yum, soups have been great) — I adore their Thursday night tapas menu. It changes weekly, it’s $ 5, $ 5, $ 5. and always unique and interesting dishes. Deconstructed cordon bleu, double smoked bacon and maple scented bread pudding, roasted Pear and prosciutto parcel, warm lamb sausage with pickled garnish, blue mussel, flecked crab & green pea ceviche… I could go on. Did I mention $ 5 belvedere martinis & house wine? I’m also a fan of the crowd. Mature, interesting & not your regular Argyle peeps. The 5th star I’m holding back on as these guys are still working out kinks. Food & Art. Two of my favourite things in the world, colliding under one roof. Heaven. Full disclosure — the Art Gallery & the owners of UE are my second family — so I naturally love the place.

Just back from lunch at Untitled Eats. My coworker/soul sista and I went for lunch, thought we would try something new and escape the confines of the Maritime Centre. When we walked in I was impressed, they have done alot with a small space. Nice seating, great curtains, lighting was good and artfully decorated. Our server, Patty, was very nice. I ordered the buttermilk chicken finger sandwich and was told they were no longer serving it, as this location does not have a deepfryer(really, thats good news. I shouldnt be eating that anyways!) and went for the beef po’ boy with a side salad instead. As soon as I saw it, I was a bit disappointed. Expecting a nice chunk of bread for a po’boy, it was served on a rather small bun/baguette — way overtoasted, dark brown crispiness and it didnt have any softness left. I believe they broiled it to melt the cheese on the beef, and it dried the beef out quite a bit. Made for too much chewing and a bit of disappointment. Flavour-wise, the beef was great and the aoili was as well. The side salad was nothing spectacular, but was fresh and crisp with a light house dressing. Soul sista ordered the vegetarian crockpot from the«bigger plates» menu and it honestly was probably a cup and a half of bean soup. The beans themselves were undercooked and when mentioned to the server, we were told they were that way on purpose. Not so lovely. Also, they were served with 3 or 4 little cheese toasts(similar to melbas) and they had liquid smoke on them, i took a bite and wanted to spit it out like an unhappy 4 year old. You will be happy to hear I refrained. In the end I did mention our disappointment to Patty and they took a small percentage off the bill. We did FINISH our food so I didnt expect it to be comped or anything, so we were happy to pay just a bit less. Patty also reassured us she would take our comments to the kitchen. As we were putting our coats on, the woman I assume is the manager came over and promised us if we were to return they would comp us some desserts. I was extremely pleased with the customer service and I will return to try another meal down the road. Hopefully my second visit will have me back here with a higher rating!

Wow! What hidden gem this is! Don’t be discouraged by the construction on the George St. side… untitled eats is alive and kicking in the AGNS! The décor is elegantly simple, the service was perfectly balanced with attentive, pleasant and knowledgeable staff. The crab cakes are all real crab, all the time.(I’m a consistency freak so I made certain to try them a couple of times…) Paired with a glass of Cab Sauv on a chilly day, untitled eats warmed my heart and my belly… I can’t wait to go back!

Had a chance to check out the brunch at Untitled Eats this past Sunday. My friend and I arrived just as they unlocked the doors at 10am, and we remained the only customers for the time we were there. I’m not surprised– we did remark on our way down that Halifax is a veritable ghost town before 11 on Sundays. The streets looked like a scene from 28 Days Later. Because we were on our own(and also likely because she is simply a good server and nice person) our server was very attentive and friendly. She had a good knowledge of the menu, and shared her favourite choices. My friend settled on the lobster benny, and I on the crab benny. The difference between the two(besides the type of seafood) was that with the crab version, the bread base has been replaced by a crab cake(100% meat– no filler here). My friend’s lobster version had fresh bread on the bottom and a good portion of lobster meat. The poached eggs were done to perfection and topped with bernais. Needless to say, the bennies were delicious. They were served on a long rectangular plate with the main in one corner and a small serving of halved mini potatoes on the opposite corner. I would have liked to have had more greens to go with the dish, but I was happy to focus on the crab-based goodness. Very pretty inside– minimalist and bright. It was a nice complement to the gallery style. I’d go back again.
