If you are traveling East of HRM on the number 7, this is worth checking out. Nice deck patio that overlooks a large body of water. Apparently this structure has been here a long time and there is an interesting history posted in the restaurant. Lobster was good, some traditional German beers available. I didn’t taste the wasser in the blackforrest cake and was hoping for a true blackforrest cake experience from a German establishment. I would go here again if I was in the area.

Our first visit here was in 2004. We had a group of people and booked out all of the rooms. We had a great experience. Dinner was excellent and has been talked about for 11 years. We finally made it back and we’re not disappointed. Even with a new owner, everything was the same. Comfortable rooms, great dinner, and nice breakfast before we set off for our drive.
Everyone that works here is friendly and makes you feel like family.
We would love to return to Salmon River Country Inn in the future.

We had a gift certificate from a friend for here and that was the inventive we needed! Nice cozy dining room– we went later in the evening for supper so it was pretty quiet. I had the French onion soup — delicious! The onions were still crunchy without being undercooked. For the main I ordered the seafood fettuccine. The sauce was really good, not too heavy or overpowering and the seafood (scallops, shrimp and lobster) were cooked well and tender. Our server Wayne was attentive without being overbearing. It was a great experience I would definitely go again and try some of their German specialities.

Was very surprised to find out that this place was under new ownership. The chef /​owner Margit is wonderful and talented. The fish chowder was very tasty and my brother had the Leberkaese with Egg and Roasted Potatoes. He loved it, also. This chef is German so of course the menu contains some awesome German dishes. I can’t wait for my next visit. Highly recommended and prices are very reasonable.
