The food here is very good with a quaint décor. It would be nice if they offered a small sized soup instead of the huge bowls. Other than that it was great!

Great little hidden gem! About 8 mins east of Musquodoboit Harbour(toward Clam Hbr), this is totally worth the drive if you’ve just come from surfing at Martinique beach and need some good sustenance!, Just about 200 meters off hwy 7, in an old elementary school in a small community, it has a real quirky charm, kinda Twin Peaks-y in a cozy way. . Like the other reviewer said, the soups are wonderful and the hearty portions are served with a big buttery homemade biscuit. And the desserts are truly out of this world! We tried both the coconut cream and the key lime, and she knocked both recipes out of the park. Another huge plus for us is the owner takes allergies very seriously. My partner has a severe shellfish allergy so finding safe restos in the maritimes can be tricky. At the lunchroom, she does have lobster and other shellfish on the menu but she keeps an impeccable kitchen where avoiding contact is easily arranged and carefully done. I also saw her checking in with other regulars about their different allergies and making adjustments to her menu items to accommodate them with generosity and no fuss. If you are near here, go check it out, you won’t be disappointed!

This is an amazing secret little spot located just outside of Jeddore, about 45 minutes outside of Halifax. Super cute and quirky, it’s located inside a non-operational vintage looking elementary school and I always like grabbing a spot in the old school lunchroom(hence the name!). The big draw is the SOUP! It’s amazing! There’s always multiple pots on the go daily, but my fave if def Turkey Tex Mex(trust me on this one) and I recently had a new addition, a chicken meatball soup stuffed full of fresh herbs and veggies, taking the comfort food level to maximum delicious. There’s even a pic of the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld fame by the lunchroom door. Plus you get a massive homemade tea biscuit on the side to soak up the broth, awesome. The ladies working are always super friendly and accommodating, and everything is fresh and homemade from scratch. Desserts are killer too! Perfect spot to bring out of town visitors or a great stop on a summer road trip to the beach. Love this place!
