A MUSTGO! Quail’s Gate is so gorgeous, and their restaurant is amazing!!! My friends and I visited this winery 2x this weekend, it was that good! The shop has a lot to choose from, and the wine is delicious! If you’re a CabSav drinker, get the 2008! It’s sooooo worth it!

The wine tour here is great, I’ve taken my family when they visited a couple of years ago. The restaurant is always outstanding. The views are beautiful and the food is delicious. This is where we take visitors from out of town when they want a spectacular meal. We are overdue for a visit.

Absolutely my favorite winery in the Okanagan! The wine is amazing and the staff in the tasting room are so welcoming! You walk in and just try wines unlike Mission Hill up the road that won’t let you sample till you pay up front. After sampling wines and taking some amazing photos, the restaurant is really good. Is it expensive… yes. But it’s a high class restaurant with quality over quantity food. We did our engagement photos here; I only wish they did weddings.

Beautiful winery. Ambiance is incredible. A must stop for wine; food and views. After you’ve finished a tasting, take a moment and enjoy a glass of your favorite wine out on their expansive balcony.

Had a good experience here and really enjoyed the lunch pairing. The winery itself is great and the sommelier was very informative but I felt we were rushed through the tour. Overall great experience and excellent wine!

Beautiful scenery. Winery was great. Restaurant was excellent. Our party of 9 including 2 young kids was seated without problems. Food was amazing! Duck ravioli was out of this world. The charcuterie board is a must! If it’s just for the restaurant, it would be 5 stars. We stopped by the wine shop to wine taste. The lady with the glasses from Barbados was not very nice. She couldn’t be bothered. We purchased extra tastings and she closed the menu on us before we had our 3 tastings and gave us the bill/coupon. We didn’t complain because we had a good time regardless of her poor customer service. We also purchased a case of wine, boxes of chocolate and a crystal decanter.

Incredible views, gorgeous land, very busy shop and tasting bar. Getting a glass from the tasting bar, and heading out on the patio to take in the vistas. Perfect! And great wine too!

Beautiful views of the lake. One of my favourite wineries in the region. They let you wonder around their vineyard unlike some other wineries around(only allowed to be amongst vines if you’re part of the tour). Service is friendly, warm, and unpretentious. Awesome wines. Beautiful restaurant with delicious food. We had dinner here. Would definitely come back. Highly recommended. This is the winery you shouldn’t miss out if you’re in West Kelowna.

The wine tour and scenery was amazing! The view from the restaurant is breath taking. It’s definitely worth experiencing on a on a clear sunny day. The staff were very knowledgeable and friendly and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves on the entire tour. The restaurant is a very nice place to eat and was very busy. However, the food was not worth the wait and sadly below par. As much as we enjoyed the scenery, service, wine… the food just didn’t meet the standards of everything else there. From the appetizers to entrees, everything was way over priced and really not good. However, it’s worth the exceptional view and to experience it once. For a great experience, go to Quails Gate Winery for the tour, tasting room, and view… but skip the food.

My friend and I joined their family tour to this winery, learned a bit about their history and wine-making process and ended with a tasting session of 4 wines. Nice experience. Their vineyards were quite a view for me. I am not comparing with other wineries(since I have not been to any around this okanagan area) but I would recommend people to join the tour and understand more about what they are trying before buying. No reservations are needed for their family tour.

I was getting a little tipsy, if not completely horizontal, by late afternoon. Blame a tour and lunch at Mission Hill for that. We had planned to remain there until the evening. Oddly, it was an employee at Mission Hill that recommended a break to visit Quails’ Gate down the road. As such, we only had a couple hours, a severely limited ration, and a choice I seriously regret. Like Mission Hill, Quails’ Gate deserves an afternoon. As we plan our next journey to explore the many wineries of the Okanagan, both Quails’ Gate and Mission Hill remain on that list. Unlike Mission Hill, a very glossy and sharpened tourist destination, resembling a monastery with its walled estate and stone structures, Quails’ Gate is rustic, unpretentious. Exposed natural wood is proudly displayed in a construction style blending modern Canadian architecture with Asian influences. This theme carries into the main shop, with only a few selections of wrought iron accentuating stained wood. A smaller shop than Mission Hill, but more intimate, Quails’ Gate encourages more dialogue with the staff. Samples are free if you purchase at least two bottles… so I bought four. I had planned on only two, but you know… wine. And I was drinking(girlfriend was driving). By the end, I sampled six, and got sold on The Bench – 2013 Pinot Gris, Richard’s Block – 2012 Pinot Noir, the 2014 Rose, and the star player, one which Mission Hill didn’t offer, the 2012 Fortified Vintage Foch. Like Mission Hill, a crate was boxed and shipped home. Quails’ Gate also offers an enticing supplementary selection of books, glasses, and condiments, including chocolate cups in which to serve said Fortified Vintage Foch. The attendant that served me, Daphne, was fantastic, with generous samples and on-cue product knowledge. This summarizing review doesn’t properly encompass the value of visiting Quail’s Gate. If I was traveling along Boucherie Road, I would enter through the northern entrance from the Okanagan highway and hit a half dozen wineries along that road. This would result in Quails’ Gate being second to last and then culminating in the picturesque Mission Hill. Knowing what we know now, we should have had lunch at Quails’ Gate, and then dinner at Mission Hill. Oh well, I guess that means we’re coming back.

We came to the vineyard for dinner and of course had to taste some of Quail’s Gate’s wines before. For 5 $ you get to taste 3 wines and 2 complementary ones. So 1 $/wine, which I think is very reasonable. And if you buy two bottles, you don’t have to pay for the tasting. We had a very friendly German server who was happy to chat to fellow Germans and for us it was very interesting to hear about live in Canada. We are no fans of dessert wines, but our server recommended we try and insisted they are very different to the German ones. And she was right, they were what we liked best and ended up buying. The tasting room is decorated very nicely and the view over the vineyard is fantastic.

2 free wine tastings of their best white(Riesling) and red wine(Old Vine Foch), personal opinion. $ 5 for 3 tastings, which you get back if you purchase 2 bottles of wine. Their prices for wine was pretty reasonable. The Riesling was ~$ 15, Old Vines Foch for ~$ 15, and Ice Wine for ~$ 35. Other wineries are charging $ 25 for a bottle of Chardonnay at Mount Boucheries and $ 100 for ice wine at Mission Hill for comparison. Tastings were done in decent wine glasses, standard Riedel size ones. Glasses were not changed to suite white or red being sampled. The personnel ensures that you tried it on order of strength of the wine. If you are feeling a little hungry, you could splurge on a $ 25 tasting that would include some pairings of food(nibbles) with wine. The tasting room also sold cheese and spreads to go with your wine. I did not see any bread — but they could have been out for the day as we arrived around 6 pm. Tasting room was quite picturesque. The restaurant and wine tasting room is perched high above a hill overlooking Okanagan Lake. Lovely architecture and manicured grounds — it might be interesting to go for a tour.

Though quite commercial, tasting room and store is a nice experience. Tasting bar is excellently-positioned so that one can look out through huge windows to a stunning view of Lake Okanagan. The view is definitely the highlight. Store has some interesting local items. WIne is so-so.

Rating based on quality wine. I love the selection and wine was spectacular. Staff was quite busy when we arrived for tasting. Also Selective of type of people(older, locals?) they first serviced. I didn’t mind waiting but next time I would perfer better service.

This rating is based on the restaurant. The service was terrible ! Our server ignored our group and when we did order the server didn’t tell my friend that they had run out of cod until 20 mins after we had ordered! Our food came over an hour later… I had the pasta and it was as if someone took a cup of olive oil and dumped it on the pasta. Do not get the meat and cheese platter: it is such a rip off and not even an appetizer(a minuscule portion; can’t believe it took an hour to bring that out!) I am pretty sure we had such terrible service because we didn’t purchase drinks(we just bought wine from the store so why would we have the same wine at lunch for double, triple the price) ! I am pretty sure as in 100% sure because everyone else around us was served immediately! Either way, Our server was terrible, possibly the worst server I have ever had. The reason why I gave it 2 stars is because of the spectacular view! I was really disappointed to come here as I heard this place was amazing & It was actually a recommendation from a friend.

My favorite winery in Kelowna is definitely Quail’s Gate. It’s not as grand as the biggest winery in the area, but there’s a charm about it that I love. It doesn’t hurt that Old Vines restaurant is on the property as well. It’s a wonderful way to enjoy a delicious meal overlooking the vineyard and water. Try to get a table out on the patio if the weather is pleasant.

Beautiful winery overlooking the vineyard. The interior is quite nice with its open layout. I haven’t been to the restaurant so I can’t really comment on that but the retail area is quite nice. They also have a little table with colouring pages for kids which isn’t a bad idea. You do pay for wine tasting but it was only $ 5.00 and you got to taste three different wine. We ended up getting a white wine at the store. Cute little knick knacks if you are looking for gifts for others.

At the restaurant related to the Quails Gate Estate winery, wine flights come set into in a terraced, iron work glass contraption that makes a fun spectacle at the table. The reds here are nice: a solid four. Did I mention the setting? It can not be overstated how beautiful it is here in the summertime with the windows flung open and with this wonderful views of flowers, terraced vines, cool patio stones, mountains jutting up in the background, and a clear lake below. Three for the food at the restaurant(see my Old Vines restaurant review) but a five for the setting and service, and a four for the wines, to average to a four. If you feel you have to compliment your wine flight with food and want to stay in the Old Vines restaurant seating longer, perhaps stick with nibbles(meats, cheeses, olives and truffle fries) for a sure thing, since food here is just okay.
