Came here for lunch with my stagette party trip to Kelowna. We had a reservation for 17 people and they managed to take good care of our large party. The bistro is actually a part of Volcanic Hills Winery. I ordered a bottle of the Volcanic Hills Pino Gris to share with a few people. The wine was pretty good. Fruity and floral notes with a nice citrus finish. I quite liked it. For lunch I shared some dishes with my sisters and a friend. We ordered the cheese board, Thai green mussels, prime rib burger, arctic char and the papperdelle. All the dishes were good. The mussels were very tasty. My only complaint is the Arctic char was a bit overcooked. But everything else was done perfectly. Portion sizes were good too.

It’s been a long time since we ate there so it’s hard to review. I do remember it was very good, pretty nice room but not great. Kind of tight and the ambience needs work. Food and service were really nice though. It’s a 3 and a half but not a four. So I round up in fairness.

Nice modern atmosphere with contemporary art for sale on the walls and very large patio overlooking the lake. Had the Tandoori salmon which came in a coconut chickpea curry sauce lightly spiced. My Husband had the burger which he said was one of the best he had had, perfectly cooked and with a blend of flavors form the bacon, cheese and curry fried onions. Roasted potatoes came on the side with the burger. Portions were good sized and reasonably priced. We were too full for dessert. Would go back on a sunny day and sit out on the patio.

Atmosphere: absolutely great view on the terrace, and a lovely and intimate setting in the bistro. Very nice storefront as well where they sell their wines(Volcanic Hills) and other various wine thingamabobs. Service: very friendly and accommodating. My husband and I frequently feel like we get the cold shoulder at some places like this, simply because we look young and/or like they think we don’t belong, so it’s refreshing to feel welcomed and looked after. Food: my husband had the pulled pork flatbread and it was ah-ma-zing. I may or may not have had a few(multiple) bites. Wonderful combo of flavours, really good portion size, all around thumbs up. I had the roasted beet and orange salad, which was good but it felt like the kitchen didn’t take much care with it. I know, salads aren’t the most exciting things ever, but I hardly tasted the balsamic vinaigrette which was a bit disappointing, and they completely forgot to include the candied pecans(which our waitress was happy to fix by getting some from the kitchen) Salad was a bit of a let down, but it was nicely paired with the Volcanic Hills Single Vineyard Gewürztraminer. All in all I would still definitely recommend going here!

Terrible service. Servers were not friendly. Didn’t acknowledge us. By the time we got a table we sat there for 15 minutes with 4 empty tables and 2 servers. A table of 5 walked in and the rude one said«we CANT seat 5» and they left. Heaven forbid you slide the 2 empty tables to seat 5 or cap the end of one. By the time they brought us water we were fed up ad walked out. Sad because the food looked amazing.

I used Unilocal to find a good restaurant and this beautiful place came up. And I’m so glad it did! It’s in a winery so there is a beautiful view on the patio. Service is quick and friendly as well. Food came quick. I ordered the fried starter and the fries are a thick cut fry that is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The aioli dip has a nice flavour to it. I had the chicken pappardelle and it is very yummy. A large portion of wide egg noodles with a creamy white wine sauce. Chicken is tender, and spinach and tomatoes are perfect mix. I highly recommend both the fries and the pasta! Yum!

Great food, great view and great wine… what more could you ask for! On a road trip back to Vancouver from the Great Canadian Rockies, decided to splurge on dinner and stop in Kelowna. After a bit of snooping around on Unilocal found this place and what a GEM! The patio is an absolute must when the sun is shining as it gives you a view of the vineyard and the Okanagan lake and the breeze makes you appreciate Wine Country! I started off with a glass of rose which was from the vineyard next door(Volcanic Hills), which was the perfect summery drink. Then ordered the saffron mussels, which had great aroma and flavor… I liked the broth too much that had to order another side of bread. The portions are huge here so you definitely get your money’s worth. I also ordered a burger, which although quite big on size was a bit smelly… I eat a lot of meat so can tell when it is not fresh. Overall this is my favorite new spot in Kelowna and I can’t wait to explore more of the menu soon!

This is absolutely amazing! We had lunch here and had the prawn and avocado starter, and the pull pork on(rolled up in) flatbread and the steak sandwich. There is a hint of delicious Indian seasoning in the dishes. Unlike the restaurants in the other wineries in Kelowna, the dishes were well presented as well as generous in portion. I highly recommend this restaurant over Mission Hill and Summer Hill. One last thing; the service was excellent. See photos:

Great new find A wonderful spot with great food and fantastic service. Came here for the first time this year and now plan to go back at least weekly. Started with the Antipasto Plate and a Volcanic Gamy Noir, wonderful charcuterie, outstanding pickles and olives and delightful roasted vegetables. Second visit with friends tried the mushroom flat bread, spread plate with pickles and goat cheese hummus with crispy duck legs. Our guests enjoyed the salmon pasta and Thai, green curry mussels. Everything was outstanding as was the service and fantastic view from the patio.

GREAT food, pleasant service but it took SO long to get our meals in a nearly empty restaurant. We left this for our last day and it was a meal before our 8 hour drive ahead of us. I budgeted 90 minutes but we didn’t get outta there for 2.5+ hours. I nearly died getting back into the car and seeing the time. On one hand you can’t rush good food but I feel that was a bit over kill. I cringe to know what it’s like when it gets busy. The patio is huge with a great view and a lovely place to host an event. Everything coming out of the kitchen was great — a nice set of options for vegetarians was nice and also why we picked here for our meal. More places should understand that whole parties of people pick and choose where to go based on whether the vegetarian can eat well. Although the menu was good for them right away, they were willing to modify if needed as well. Food was upscale but with simple, clean and accessible flavors. Obviously chef created and well executed all with a reasonable price tag considering the location. Perfect for a casual lunch but nice enough to be a special event spot. All and all it’s worth a visit, but don’t go if you’re in a hurry.

I feel like I keep stumbling onto these places with hardly any reviews… Going in apprehensive, and leaving with my mind blown. Blu Saffron has 1 review, 4 stars, so what the heck, the place was packed, the ambiance was beautiful, and I had to see for myself if the menu was worth writing about. I ordered the prime rib burger which I was told was exceptional, and I must say, it’s the best burger I’ve had in Canada thus far(being from LA where we are allowed to leave the burger pink and juicy inside) so although it was cooked all the way through, the prime rib allowed it to remain tender, and the stuffings were incredibly crafted! My better half ordered the wild salmon dish that was also fantastic. Pair any dish with a nice wine and come on a sunny day, you will not be disappointed.

Volcanic Hills winery is a fairly new winery; it opened in May 2010. Blu Saffron opened a few years later. We came here for dinner on a Thursday night – there were only two servers running eight tables. Both of them were pleasant, attentive, extremely knowledgeable and efficient. Cream of asparagus and potato soup: a very wonderfully spiced soup with good pieces of tender asparagus. For the«cup of soup», it was a fairly large portion. My son enjoyed it very much. Mussels in saffron curry broth: the mussels were plump and juicy and the broth was very flavourful without being overly salty. You could see saffron threads generously scattered throughout the broth. West coast Red snapper: pan fried almond dusted snapper fillet served over coconut rice and ratatouille with grilled pineapple salsa and lime goat cheese aioli. The combination of savoury, tart, and sweet really worked for me. Such bold and vibrant flavours! Prime rib burger with roasted shallots, aged cheddar, double smoked bacon, and onion bahji served on a brioche bun with curried aioli and baby potatoes: my son thought that the burger was well balanced(in terms of flavour) and delicious. The bacon was a bit too crunchy, though. Rack of lamb mint and Dijon crusted with crushed baby potatoes, grilled asparagus and balsamic reduction jus: the lamb was done medium well and very juicy. The potatoes were a little firmer than expected and could have served at a warmer temperature. White chocolate cheesecake: amazingly light tasting and complimented well with macerated and fresh berries. Crème brûlée with pecan biscotti: creamy and rich with a glass hard top of «signature brûlée». By the way, the winery is open until 8pm during the summer. There is also free wifi available for guests.
