I wish I could give this place zero stars. We went to Little Straw Vineyard as our first stop on the wine trail, and I thought we were in for a long day. We pulled up and it is a very nice little setup there with views. Unfortunately that’s where it ended. We went inside to the tasting room and there was one staff member to only said«tell me if you want to taste» about 5 minutes after we walked in. It was very quiet there, except for the worker banging around. The vibe there is that we were an inconvenience. We left, thankfully other wineries were more welcoming.

While on the Westbank, we were looking for a winery that served lunch, so off it was to Little Straw. The restaurant was full, so we couldn’t get a table. It was disappointing because the food option looked fresh and seasonal. We decided to try the wines instead and weren’t disappointed. After paying a tasting fee(money goes to a charity — LOVE!), we sampled several wines and the tapestry was our favourite. The staff were friendly and clearly passionate about their family-run winery. I would definitely return to pick up some more wine and I’d love to visit the restaurant too.

First… Thank you Trevor for a fantastic dinner with one of the most beautiful views. We had the pleasure of meeting Chef Trevor in the tasting room before dinner. We sampled a few of the wines but what was great was the Tapestry wine. Just got released the day before. While sampling the wines, we were able to hear about his passion… great food paired with great wine. There was 2 of us and we shared a bottle of Riesling which is only $ 10.00 above market price. We had the shared apply to start. An assortment of crostini topped with different tapenades and cheese from Armstrong. We shared the Funghi Volitini and Pinot Noir a Smoked salmon. Flavours were amazing. We paired the Volitini with the Marèchal Foch. Thank you also to Samantha(I hope that’s her name) our hostess/server and again Trevor for your knowledge in food pairing that was delicious and allowing me to put a memorial sticker on an oak barrel. We will be sure to visit next time!!!

This winery delivers every year. In my mind they have some of the best white wines in the region. This quaint vineyard located on Westbank is a must stop for any newcomers. The staff are really friendly and talkative. Tons of stories and good banter if you’re the social type. You must try all their white wines. Their array of flavours will please any palette. But be warned, this vineyard also has some really nice reds on the softer side of taste. You have to stop here for a bottle… or 4… or 5…

Unilocal … I think we shall stick with food reviews. Wines are great. The attitude in this shop is lacking though. Maybe we came on an off-day but the two people who were working here seemed as if they didn’t want to be there which is too bad. There are so many amazing wineries in this region that you cannot afford to offer sub-par customer service. Get your act together. Wines are good though which is the saving grace for this vineyard. Otherwise, it would be a sad 2 stars in my books.

Little Straw blew me away. Beautiful winery on a beautiful vineyard. Everything was family run from the storefront to the upstairs restaurant where the staff(mostly family) were cracking jokes and providing excellent service. The wines we tasted were incredible and we picked up the Rose and Tapestry wines. I loved how interactive everyone was with their suggestions and they really catered to each individual palate. I was so impressed with the staff, the wine, the food at the restaurant(which was delicious), the story of the winery and the vineyard, and the scenery.(So many excellent photo ops.) Definitely going back.

Wow! I haven’t been this impressed with a winery in some time! Little Straw you blew it out of the water for me! I’d heard about this place in the past and was fortunate enough to try a couple of there wines prior to showing up… the guy who runs the is place is unbelievable! He tried all of the wines with us, making suggestions and and chatting with us. We were with an engaged couple so he took us on a tour of the place and showed us the areas to host events. I must say this place has a stunning view and would be an exceptional venue for a rehearsal dinner. I was so impressed with the staff here as well as the wine and the fabulous artwork I simply can’t wait to go back! This place is number one on my list of places to return to! You guys out did yourselves!

I was pleasantly surprised by my visit here. We stopped for a meal first opting to have their special of the day: pinot-glazed salmon and beef sliders, both served with a side of potato salad with dill. Both were fresh and delicious. The potato salad was surprisingly light and tasty. If everyone could make potato salad like this then the world would be a much tastier place. I loved my sliders. Perfectly cooked and seasoned well. I definitely would recommend stopping by for a bite to eat if you’re in the middle of a DIY winery tour. We sat out on the deck overlooking all the other wineries and the lake beyond. After our meal, we tasted their wine. I’m no wine connoisseur by any stretch of the imagination, but I enjoyed what I tasted and ended up taking home a bottle of their Rosé. This little winery is definitely worth a visit and I’d gladly go back for another meal.

New year, new Chef, new review. Don’t pass up Little Straw Winery/Barrel Top Grill! I have a feeling many people who come to visit the Westbank for wineries like Quails Gate and Mission Hill may be missing a real gem in Little Straw. This is a small family owned place with some outstanding white wines and a great«bistro» attached. We have been coming here for years and it keeps getting better. First, the view from the winery and restaurant is fantastic, overlooking the vineyards and lake. The staff are all outstanding and very welcoming. Now to the wines, the whites are some of the best around the whole area. Unfortunately, they just ran out of the 2010 Riesling this past week(luckily we got a case before they were out) but the Sauvignon Blanc and Old Vines Auxerrois are truly wonderful. The Tapestry is also a wonderful white blend. They do offer some nice reds but the whites truly are some of the best in the region. Now on to the Barrel Top Grill. Again, we have raved about this in the past but now they have a new Chef, Trevor Mayhew who is really doing what should be done at a vineyard, Tapas. Trevor is also doing some great smoking using regional ingredients and interesting smoking techniques. When we where there this time we had some outstanding smoked pork followed by some wonderful smoked salmon and then a great espresso/Pinot Noir reduction glazed lamb. The great thing about this place is that it is what a winery should be, small, quaint, friendly and outstanding food. Granted, Quails Gate and Mission Hill are wonderful as well but I would much rather have a great glass of wine with some fresh Tapas and chat with the Chef on the balcony overlooking the vineyards then be in a more pretentious setting. If you pass up Little Straw you will be missing a lovely, relaxing afternoon.

We came across this place by accident and were so happy to say it was the last meal we had before hitting the road back to Vancouver. The sun was shining and the views were endless from the deck. The menu is so creative and flavourful, with Mediterranean influences. We started with the tomato bruschetta and shared the Macedonia Platter with 8 skewers of grilled beef, pork, lamb, chicken and prawns(you can mix up each amount), dolmades, roasted potatoes, grilled vegetables, humus, tzatziki, and grilled pita. It was plenty for a family of 4 and was a great compliment to the wine. It’s very rare to have a relaxing lunch with 2 toddlers, but the fact there were healthy dips, easy to pick up skewers and endless pita, I was able to sit back with my wine on the deck and enjoy the view. Service was flexible, prompt and friendly. We hope to go back on our next trip there.
