We went here on a Monday in August. Ample parking, and someone was on the veranda to greet us and let us know what to do. This was our first time. We waited for the bus to take us to the bushes. There was a lovely waiting area where you could fine shade and look at the fish in the coy pond. Bus driver was friendly, helpful, and nicely chatty. When we arrived a lady showed us it a spot and we started picking. It would have been nice if someone had taken a minute to explain what type of berry we would be picking and how it differed from some of the others. Then we decided to have lunch at the restaurant. Delish! I had the quiche and ceasar salad, and he had the beet green soup and thai chicken wrap. We really enjoyed our meal. At the end, we seemed to be waiting a long time to pay as other people were seated. We each had time to make a trip to the washroom as the other stood there with the credit card and bill in hand. Finally we asked the waitress if this was where we paid and she took payment even though it was someone else’s job.

Had an good meal. Appetizer(Tomato soup) was the standout. It was made with fresh tomatoes and was probably the best tomato soup I have ever had. The mains were good but my Salmon was a bit overcooked and the Scallops were good but really didn’t stand out. The biggest disappointment on the mains was the vegetable stir fry. It was bland and pretty tasteless. I would have preferred to just have some fresh beans steamed. The service was great and the setting is really wonderful. Unless it is really cold or windy I suggest you sit outside. Most people were sitting inside so we had the porch to ourselves and it was definitely the best seat in the house. Overall it is great but I would say that the mains are all almost exactly $ 10 overpriced. It was about $ 80 between two of us for appetizers, a main and splitting a desert. One of us also have a glass of wine.

What an awesome find and just an hour or so from Halifax. It’s only open from May(for the delightful restaurant) until the end of blueberry picking in September. And it’s well worth marking it in your calendar for a wonderful day trip. The restaurant has a fabulous menu — you must try the blueberry poppyseed dressing — on a salad, or chicken — like the smoked chicken quesedilla. They even have a children’s menu. But our little ones were too little(not to mention messy) to eat in their beautiful dining room. Not a problem though. There are picnic tables just outside right next to a Koy pond and some of the gazillion blueberry bushes where you can take out a sandwich or bring your own picnic. And speaking about blueberries. This pick-your-own farm is so big, they actually have a big, air conditioned bus to take you around to the best spots to pick and then collects you after you fill up your buckets.
