Great place to eat. We had the Bison burgers/pasta special/French onion soup & salad. Everything was great. Service was wonderful. Fun to look at all of the old Canadian Railway memorabilia. Strawberry rhubarb pie was out of this world!

Make reservations as the entire resort can be short staffed at times. The restaurant ambiance is really pretty(though they have a weird choice of music playing… shania twain at a fancy railroad themed restaurant?). The train literally stops next to the dining room and the patio is really pretty with amazing views. The salmon was delish, the kids pasta dishes were good and the burger was so/so. The food is definitely overpriced, even for one in a mountain village.

My wife were looking to get a good meal in Lake Louise and had read about the Lake Louise Train Station Restaurant. When we arrived, the Train Station still retained some historic charm of days gone by. The food, however, was quite current and very good. I decided on the Stuffed Burger which was stuffed with Roasted Garlic and Bocconcini cheese(similiar texture and flavor as Mozzarella). I can sum it up in 1 word — «WOW!» From the first bite, the flavor exploded in my mouth. All the ingredients blended together to an exciting flavorful experience. Did I mention it came with Jalapeño Mayonaise too? The only item missing was room for desert. The burger was filling and satisfying. You gotta try this burger. My wife also enjoyed her Spinach salad and Baked Brie. Since the name is «the Lake Louise Train Station Restaurant», it was fitting that we had 2 trains go by while we ate. Nice touch to add atmosphere to our meal. If you are in the Lake Louise area — or simply passing through — treat yourself to a top notch meal at the Lake Louise Train Station Restaurant. You’ll be glad you did. We were.

This is a wonderful location, an old train station loaded with wonderful memorabilia and history. Other than that, not worth the visit. The hostess was completely overwhelmed. Our 10-minute wait became 35 minutes. Many tables in the two dining rooms in use last night were empty for a long time, but she could not get people to them. Given that it is not large, this was surprising. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. However, we thought the food was disappointing. I had the pasta special of the night. The tomato sauce was barely existent. It had two small shrimp and two small scallops for a large plate of pasta. Then — and I have never seen this — they topped off the pasta dish with shredded cheddar cheese that typically goes on top of a salad. If the food was nearly as good as the physical location, this would have been great. Recommendation: Go there and check out the old train cars next to the restaurant and the area itself. Then have a drink at the bar or move on if you want something good to eat.

This place is full of history, one of the oldest Canadian train station. The atmosphere is really relaxing and has a huge fireplace. The staff was really awesome as well. Concerning the food, I think it’s the best quality/price you can get in the area. I’m staying at Deer Lodge and I wish I knew that place before. It’s not«affordable» but you get what you paid for. I definitely recommend this place.

Great food, very nice setting. A train passed so close which added to the charm. Good parking away from the chaos of the plaza.

Lets give this restaurant 4 stars due to the fact that at the end of the day you come to the restaurant for the quality of the food, décor balanced against the price tag. I had the elk/salom salad, veggie lasagna, fries.(i know its a lot so STFU). 4⁄5 quality: very very fresh ingredients, delicious meals, and a hint of fanciness but not too pretentious. 5⁄5 décor: I really like the nice big chairs, museum like environment, really old items found around the restaurant from back in the day when it was a train station, cool pictures. 3⁄5 price: OUCH 3⁄5 servers: they could use some charm, especially the two head guys. as they say the fish rots from the head, so pretty much all the yungens have the same shitty attitude but somehow they try to overcompensate for their disgusting attitude by over performing on the service during the meal. its a little confusing but thats how I feel about it. overall I would go there at least once but probably not all the time.

We couldn’t find a restaurant in our hotel to eat without a reservation at 8:00 pm, so we took a chance and went to this place, we waited for 15 minutes or so, which was fine considering the décor of this place. The staff here are really friendly and apologetic, the food is rather nice for casual dinning, overall we had a great time there, definitely recommend.

An almost hidden gem in Lake Louise! This is the site of the original Lake Louise train station and the restaurant décor reflects its glorius past. There are well preserved historical railroad artifacts much as you would see in a museum. There are also two restored railway cars where special functions can be held. The food is lovingly prepared with fresh local ingredients and our server, James, was as welcoming and professional as could be. The dinner we had was so enjoyable that we went back for lunch before leaving for Calgary airport. This delightful restaurant was definitely the gastronomical highlight of our trip to Banff and Lake Louise.

The railway station restaurant looks like a museum. The walls are filled with photographs of old times, absolutely stunning. And there’s a room filled with old material from the cellar, vintage stuff. Gorgeous! How’s the food? The bison burger is highly recommendable, really yummie. Staff’s very helpful and friendly. We had a burly guy, funny as hell and made very good recommendations.

I have eaten here a number of times and tried a variety of items on the menu. The setting cannot be beaten and the building itself is beautiful; a former train station lovingly restored to its glory days. At first glance I thought the menu was quite pricey but is in line with everything else is town. The service has always been good, if not great, and the atmosphere is magical being nestled in the mountains with trains rolling by. If there in the winter I recommend a table near either side if the fireplace as this adds to the ambiance. If there in the summer grad a spot on the patio and enjoy the vista and fresh air. The bison burger is always a great choice, but for me the real star of the show is the French Onion soup. Arrive early to get the best seats. This place is most certainly quintessentially Canadian.

Lake Louise is a pricey area for eating out and a $ 17 hamburger seems to be the norm. We decided to eat at the Railway Station for lunch, as the prices are better and they serve lunch until 4PM. My husband had his eye on the hot turkey sandwich, which turned out to be wonderful. Fresh thick, roasted turkey slices over a slim piece of sourdough with a light bit of gravy, all made in-house. The house green salad was delicious with bits of fruit and a light dressing. It seemed relatively healthy compared to the American version. The restored railway building is beautiful inside and also outside near the tracks. Service was friendly and fine.

We were visiting Banff with another family. Paradise lodge that we stayed in suggested them. The food is OK, but pricy and the service was really bad. The waiter, Curt, forgot giving the other family’s kids juice and ice cream. When they asked him, he said he did. For us, he didn’t bring out the appetizers before the main courses. He didn’t want to split bill with two families saying he is too busy. He charged us extra without even asking. With the combination of pricy but OK food and poor service, it is really not worth trying.

Way overpriced for the quality. A simple dish like roasted chicken was overcooked and too salty. $ 19 burgers. I guess you’re paying for the view. ‘Nuff said.

Mid week dinner stop while vacationing in Banff National Park with my wife and adult son. The restaurant is housed in a quaint old railway station, but that is where the compliments end. The service was poor and the food was terrible. I had the prime rib($ 30) and it was so tough that I could hardly cut it, even after they replaced my butter knife with a steak knife. I told the host that it was the worst prime rib I had ever had and he laughed and walked away! No apology or acknowledgment of our dissatisfaction. My son had fish and chips and he said that the fish was totally tasteless. Our smirking waitress avoided our table so it was difficult to get drinks refilled and our bill. We had many fine meals on our vacation but this stands out as the worst. Overpriced and substandard. The intent seems to be to gouge the tourists and not worry about repeat business.

good to great food but: !!! Just to highlight our evening at this restaurant, My wife and children have traveled throughout the world and are aware of standards across various types of restaurants and cultures. For the prices in this restaurant, we expected world class services and found most areas mediocre to substandard. Our waiter, tonight, needs to return to wait staff training after noting the following observations: 1) sneering attitude when requesting a seating outside 2) seemed rushed with each exchange 3) we requested a split cesear salad: he agreed: and this did not occur, he delivered a salad to me, I had to split and use another plate that was on the table 4) served my pork disk without appropriate knife 5) no return during the entire dinner for water refills 6) informed us of the bread policy 1 item per customer: I could not find this ‘policy’ on any menu or on the information outside the door, I would like to stated that I have never seen a «bread limit» this at any rest. in the last 10 years of my travels of over 2 million miles worldwide 7) he deposited the table knifes in a cluster in the middle of the table for us to self distribute 8) he handed the plate with my food directly to me, leaning over the back of my son, and did not place the plate on the table, this same pattern of food delivery occurred for some of the other people in my family 9) he handed the drinks to us directly to then have us place the glasses on the table More to the list: but I am on vacation and wish to retire at this late hour.

My wife and I ate here when we were visiting the Park. The food is very good and the server was great(young Austrian girl). My wife had the chicken and I had the steak(medium rare of course), however I would try to get there a little earlier next time because it gets busy very quickly.

Travellng through Lake Louise we were in desperate need of a meal — and after an epic search(yes there are only three restaurants in Lake Louise. no we were not good with directions) we arrived at The Station. It was an excellent oasis of tranquility and delicious food. The setting: an old CPR station house set in the woods. There is great history here as this used to be the ONLY place you could go into Lake Louise from — no roads, no planes… only rail. And guess what — it was right next to the hotel and the brothel! The restaurant has converted the old station into a modern spot with great historical touches. The food: short menu with local game prepared on an outdoor grill. I had a bison burger which was very tasty and it came with a side salad of caesar. My wife had a grilled chicken on a bun. The food was good and fresh. The service: very friendly service, personable. Only bad thing is that the grill chef was carrying on a conversation with his girlfriend/other wait staff while cooking. The view: wonderful — we could see the trees and mountains from our seat on the patio. Just fabulous. Overall a good meal and a worthwhile stop in Lake Louise.
