Broue Pub Brouhaha

Came here as out-​of-​towners visiting for the Grand Prix looking for a place to watch the qualifying laps.
Their early (11:00am) open and advertised TBD are what brought us in, but it was their service, kitchen, and bar which gained them 5 stars.
They were willing to drop the projector and tune to race channel for us, and when the place got busier and the TV got noisy, t hey just opened up the overflow room and let us have that space to ourselves!
The kitchen and beer was exceptional as well though. Their pizzas were gourmet and delicious, and they had an extensive microbrew selection as well as a respectable scotch selection for our top shelf needs.
Overall, everything anyone could want from a pub.

Now this is what I’m talking about, an actual neighborhood pub! Things are getting fancy left and right, and I’m pleased to say this place is really not. The staff is denim-​clad, they yell at each other from across rooms, the name that appears on your receipt is puny. No pseudo English décor here, this place is dark, with both folding chairs and massive wood tables. The menu is hardy, and their beer selection immense.
For extra charm, they project Habs games onto the side wall.

Friendly staff, great beer, quiet location. Have not had the food but it’s a four star purely based on the beer, I highly recommend this place for fresh unique brews.

LA POUTINE. Miam.
Décor sympathique, ambiance amicale et relax. Salle de spectacle adjacente où se tiennent souvent des événements en tous genres.
J’y ai passé une excellente soirée avec une vieille amie. On pensait prendre une bière puis quitter, mais l’endroit était tellement charmant qu’on est restées jusqu’à ce que notre taux d’alcoolémie dépassé nos limites personnelles et qu’on commence à se taponner les mains en étant nostalgiques de notre coin de pays. Si vous êtes dans Rosemont, passez y faire un tour, vous né le regretterez pas, surtout si c’est avec une date que vous avez envie de taponner.

Plenty of places to sit, lots of tables/​small bar. Waitress never offered a food menu and couldn’t make an old fashioned even though it seemed the only available liquor was bourbon. Paid quick attention to my empty glass but overall an unfriendly vibe.

There must be a reason why I keep coming back to this hidden gem in Rosemont tucked away from the tourists, enough so that a renewed 5-​star review seems appropriate. It offers such a perfect pairing between an ever-​changing selection of craft beer on tap and an extensive menu of tasty food in an authentic unpretentious environment. It does get loud when the room starts getting packed but I’ve never had to wait to get a table.
The servers are consistently great at describing and recommending beer. Some are brewed in-​house, others come from Dieu du Ciel, Trou du Diable, Beau’s, and more, basically all the great regional craft brewers. My favorite: Brouhaha’s Cuvée des Saveurs, a strong Belgian ale with a magnificent floral (almost metallic) aroma, good carbonation, and spices that add colour to the taste.
I’ve had my share of pub food and poutines since my last review. Here the food tends to be a little more refined, not the sloppy coarse kind of pub food that seems to be the standard at commercial-​beer pubs. The duck-​based gravy with cream cheese sauce mixed with leek in the Poutiflette for example (which is still my #1 for poutine). The half-​plate nachos (for 1) is huge. The cheese and cold cuts were a great plate to share as well. I can’t wait to try the ribs and pizza.
This is a brew pub that never failed to disappoint. Honestly, be daring enough to step out of your downtown/​Plateau bubble, you’ll experience deep local.

Cool bar. Nice, casual vibe. Good indie tunes in the background, cool junk art and the fanciest foosball table I’ve seen. Mac n cheese and salad were excellent. Beer selection didn’t now me away, but was good enough.

Had the hyped up regular sized ‘poutiflette’ (essentially poutine) for 18 $ after tax and tips, which is absolutely ridiculous.
Granted it had cream-​cheese-​duck gravy and a fancy description, the Poutiflette consists mainly of fries, cheese curds, and gravy. As for the ‘fancier’ toppings, I had 2 slices of that ‘Ile de la Madeleine’ cheese, invisible lardons (counted like 5 small cubes), and a couple slices of caramelized onion (lost all its flavour to the duck and cream cheese mix).
Besides that, the dish was overall on the ‘too salty’ side. The gravy itself was very salty, and there was so much gravy 95% of the fries were bathing and soft (not crispy).
Now in terms of flavor, it was quite tasty and kind of rich (duck gravy and cheese). The chives and rosemary were a bit overwhelming, but when dosed moderately, it was original. So in terms of taste only, I’d give it ⁴⁄₅ (too salty and too much gravy, not enough crispy stuff).
The décor was typical for a bar, but it has a rigged (weird proportions) foosball table, which has a reasonable pricing of 1 $ for 10 balls.
But seriously, for an 18 $ poutine, I was expecting a lot more. Either a huge portion, or a lot of toppings, which wasn’t the case of the Poutiflette.

Gros amateur de craft beer, Brouhaha est rapidement devenu mon lieu de référence à Montréal. Excellent choix de bières pression avec une rootation fréquente — je découvre de nouvelles bières à chaque fois que j’y retourne. Petit plus, la possibilité de commander un format galopin (12.5cl) pour goûter une bière particulière.
Le personnel est toujours sympa et d’excellent conseil sur les différentes bières à disposition. Gros plus, j’ai été agréablement surpris par leur cuisine. La poutine y est excellente, et leurs côtes levées également.
Enfin, on est séduit par l’atmosphère relax, le coté sans prétention et chaleureux qui tranche avec certains bars que l’on peut trouver sur le Plateau.
Me reste à tester la terrasse extérieure en été et les soirées impro, mais pour moi Brouhaha c’est déjà ⁵⁄₅.

I’ve only been here once and it was to try the Poutine for Poutine week. It was one of my top two poutines I tried during the week. Loved it and would definitely go back.

Kind of far, something like 20 – 25 min walk from the nearest metro station, but it’s pretty much the only downside I found on this place. They had a great selection of beer, and it wasn’t too expensive either. Our waiter was nice and friendly, the place was packed but we never had to wait for a refill and he always remembered what we had ordered the last time. Would return more often if it wasn’t so far from my place.

on a crazily cold evening, brouhaha, a bar located out of view but pretty popular amongst the locals nearby, was our 2^nd poutine committee meet stop where we would go for the poutine week special which had braised lamb, pearl onions, bacon and mushrooms.
on top of that, i grabbed a glass of cider beer because i love cider. no need to say more.
as for the poutine? the scent was simply divine! we knew it’d be good and it was. how good? well, let’s say that if one farts smell divine, its freakishly good poutine. and if you start to sweat fat, its good.
the place can be loud and crowded. we were lucky that it was freezing cold and a monday and no hockey game was on.
will definitely be back for more poutine

On y était allé pour une poutine et plus particulièrement la poutiflette et on n’a pas été déçu.
En plus des poutines qui étaient goûteuses, aussi bien l’effiloché que la poutiflette, on a aussi été charmé par les bières car il y a pléthore de bière aussi bien de micro brasserie que des bières maisons. L’accord avec la poutine était vraiment sympa et les prix sont raisonnables !
Le service est normal sans plus ni accroc.
Niveau décoration c’est simple mais ca va bien avec l’ambiance.
A priori il est aussi possible de privatiser la salle mais à partir de 70 personnes !
En conclusion si vous cherchez un endroit pour chiller et bien manger sur Rosemont n’hésitez pas à y aller :)

Super brasserie. Mon copain et moi sommes vendus! La poutiflette et le smoke meat sont délicieux! On sent vraiment que tout est préparé avec amour.
Et que dire des bières! Ma préférée est la blanche soleil! Une bonne bière légère, fruitée au goût d’été.

Crazy international bottle list, and crazy pricey too but I guess that’s the cost of this business in Quebec. Fortunately Brouhaha also does some really nice and affordable home brews, a sunny blanche, a spicey festival saison, organic stout and plenty more, and they host other great local brews on tap so lots of reasonable and delish drinking to be done here and fun stuff to splurge on if the inspiration strikes you.
The bar is on a quiet corner off the beaten path out east a bit, and I think that contributes to the feeling inside, a mix of happy regulars who live in this area, and of beer lovers who have made the trek out here on purpose to spend time and money thoughtfully imbibing.
The room is old, dim but warm and glowy, a beautiful old rolling blue door separating the main bar from the second room. Stone, wood and a well-​lit foosball table (or babyfoot as we call it here.) Friendly no rush staff, lots to love, I’ll be back plenty.

Well, I’m not a beer-​drinker. I can admit it. But I do like cider. They have cider. If you don’t drink beer though or hard stuff, the menu is a little shy. Bright side! The poutine was super yummy, as were the fries with the home-​mayo. It was a nice discovery :) The back room was a little lonely, but that’s only because the front of the place was PACKED!

J’ajouterai qu’il s’agit d’un endroit agréable situé dans un secteur un peu vide du quartier Rosemont. À l’inverse de bien d’autres anciennes tavernes reconverties, celle-​ci a su conserver son style «d’avant «sans céder dans les faux-​semblants style Platô.
Le pub offre une très belle sélection de bières importées et quelques bières en fût de la microbrasserie Le trou du Diable (Shawinigan). La bouffe offerte est excellent et le menu varie selon les jours de la semaine. Je recommande particulièrement de gouter aux ailles de canard. Le Brouhaha est aussi un bon endroit pour écouter les matchs du canadien.
J’enlève une étoile en raison des prix un peu chers de certaines consommations et du service parfois désorganisé.
Pour les gens du quartier, je recommande.

I stumbled upon this glorious place last year on a Monday night and the first thing that greets my eyes is hulk hogan in the shower on the big screen. By the end of the night I am in the back room yelling with the crowd at a documentary and throwing corks at the screen in disapproval, approval, and for everything in between! Basically on Mondays, come early, go to the back room and watch crazy YouTube clips until ten and then the film of choice after that! Come early, drink beer, yell French obscenities and enjoy this wonderful place that is like no other! Oh yeah, get the fries. They are fantastic!

I love this bar!!! Its some where between a dive and trendy spot. Its dark, has plenty of tables and chairs, great local beers on tap, friendly service and good food. When we go we definitely make sure to arrive on an empty stomach, since the duck here is amazingly good and unique! For 12 bucks you get 6 duck legs prepared kind of like fried chicken, alongside an arugula salad, some fantastic french fries with 2 delicious creamy dipping sauces! My mouth is watering just writing this! Follow up this delicious meal with a perfectly poured pint of their IPA. Bliss!

If you’re into beer, you will love this place. I like the setup, it’s got a nice tavern kind of feel to it. There’s a foosball table if you want to have a game. They usually have 4 or 5 of their beers on tap, along with a fairly extensive list of guest beers from other Quebec microbreweries. If you’re looking for something imported, they have a huge list of bottled beer, but be prepared to pay for it. This is definitely one of the best brewpubs in Montréal. I prefer it to Benelux and I think it gives Dieu Du Ciel a run for it’s money.

In my unending quest for great beer in Montréal, I arrived at Brouhaha. A cozy little pub on the northern end of town. Brouhaha features a variety of local guest taps to supplement its repertoire, and when I say variety, I do mean the entire garden. They tend to have at least a pair of options to suit every taste. A very friendly, knowledgeable staff, and a better than average pub faire food creates a nice atmosphere for the beer enthusiast.
I’m not as big of a fan of their house selections as I was their guest taps, but all around this one ranks high on the list of great locations for the Montréal beer snob in me.

Voilà un bar qui est arrivé comme une bouffée d’air frais dans Rosemont, proposant un choix de bière conséquent et original dans une partie de la ville où les palais difficiles avaient du mal à trouver quelque chose de décent à se faire descendre dans le gosier…
LES POURS: L’endroit est plutôt laid, mais a ce charme propre aux veilles tavernes. Une quantité appréciable de bières en fût.
Les lundis douteux: événement fort couru et sympathique, où une foule survoltée se marre en regardant les ratés de la télévision et du cinéma d’action des années 80 (chaque lundi)
LES CONTRES: Dire qu’il y a à peine 2 ans, on y buvait tout ce qu’on voulait pour moins de 7 $ la pinte Maintenant, malheureusement, les prix ont augmenté d’une façon aussi démesurée qu’injustifiée. La dernière fois où j’y suis allé, le ¾ des bières se détaillaient à 9 $ la pinte! Seules les bières produites par leur propre brasseur demeurent à un prix raisonnable (autour de 6 $), mais il n’y en a souvent qu’une ou deux à l’ardoise… En somme un endroit beaucoup trop cher pour ce qu’il offre, selon moi.
Le service est aussi des plus inégal. Combien de fois ai-​je attendu une dizaine de minutes dans une salle à moitié vide pendant que deux serveurs discutaient tranquillement au bar, sans se soucier le moins du monde de la clientèle… Il nous est même déjà arrivé, avec quelques amis, d’attendre 20 minutes sans résultat, pour finalement choisir de lever le camp et d’aller boire à la maison… Néanmoins, la dernière fois que j’y suis allé, la serveuse a été d’une rapidité et d’un professionnalisme hors pair. Est-​ce que tout le staff a changé pour le mieux? Est-​ce que le patron et fouetté ses troupes? Espérons-​le, j’attends ma prochaine visite pour le savoir.
En somme, un endroit correct, mais trop cher. Vaut la peine de s’y arrêter si on habite la quartier, mais pas de s’y rendre si ce n’est pas le cas (sauf pour les lundis douteux (
)). Je préfère, de loin, le Cheval Blanc, même s’il est plus loin de chez moi: BEAUCOUP moins cher, meilleur service, et aussi bonnes bières. Voilà qui est dit.

Un peu isolée sur l’avenue de Lorimier, l’on se soulage toujours de retrouver cette brasserie artisanale qui colore et réchauffe un tantinet les alentours plutôt mornes du coin dans lequel elle se situe. Le Brouhaha adopte carrément l’allure des tavernes de quartier, à la différence évidente que la bière et l’ambiance sont bien meilleures. Ici (surtout en après-​midi), les vétérans bièrophiles, solitaires et soiffards, silencieusement attablés, né s’enfilent pas une flopée de pintes que par accoutumance… ils le font également pour le goût… C’est pour ainsi dire, un haut lieu de trouvailles brassicoles. Certaines tables anciennes sont tapissées d’étiquettes relatives aux bonnes cuvées des quatre coins du monde. Très peu de bières brassées sur place sont malheureusement offertes en fût; normalement 2 ou 3, dépendamment des jours et des saisons. Par contre, et j’insiste sur ce point, la brasserie vend ses propres bouteilles (oui!oui!), que vous pouvez ramener chez-​vous! Autrement, l’on se confronte à un mur de bières invitées provenant de plusieurs microbrasserie québécoises: Trois Mousquetaires, À la Fût, Dieu du Ciel!, Broadway, Charlevoix, Trou du Diable, Simple Malt, etc…
J’ai justement goûté à une bière spéciale de la microbrasserie gaspésienne le Naufrageur (non disponible sur les tablettes des dépanneurs spécialisés): la Bienfaisante, une IPA au thé du Labrador. Rubigineuse et très florale, son odeur particulière, presque un remugle, vous l’aurez deviné, provient des feuilles de thé ajoutées au brassin.
Si vous êtes de ceux pour qui le rire et le houblon font bon ménage, sachez que chaque lundi soir, et ce, depuis 3 ans, le broue-​pub présente des soirées cinématographiques volontairement médiocres, où en gros, il est question de dénigrer le plus possible un navet de série B en lançant des projectiles inoffensifs (fournis en masse) sur l’écran mural de projection, lorsque l’on juge qu’une scèné «dépassé les bornes»… Il va sans dire que le plaisir est au rendez-​vous…

Stephanie did a good job describing this place. It’s a great spot. Quite popular but with a crowd really sport oriented. In the last game of Canadian, I was there with a pretty ecclectic crowd of people and even though it could have gone wrong, this place has a nice vibe, really friendly, nice bunch of scotch as well, which is great when you feel like having a chaser of good scotch with a nice local beer. In fact, this place is great because there’s plenty space, some music, nice people. It’s a nice spot too. Not downtown, but manageable when you have a car or if you’re willing to walk a little.

It’s all about the beer here and I really enjoyed sitting at the bar with my husband enjoying all this great beer. We dropped in on a Saturday evening around 6PM shortly after the Mondial de la Biere festival. Because there were few people that early we were able to get great service and taste several recommendations before choosing. I had really high expectations for the beer at this pub and then I had an excellent experience here! I was looking for something different and they really know how to pick them. My husband and I ended up getting one that tasted a bit like bourbon (just based on the brewing) and another with a sour kick like Duchesse de Bourgogne. They have a great selection of bottles including Rodenback, Gulden Draak Draak, Orval… On tap they had IPA’s, belgian style summer blondes…
We ordered their house-​made maple syrup basted smoked meat which just really hit the spot! I noticed from another table that the pizzas looked good and at $ 10 seemed like good value. I would have ordered the grilled veggie… Décor is really laid back and there are four tables outside in a shaded area.
