A hidden gem of New Westminster, tucked away in a place called Marketplace… ahhhh… They have savory AND sweet crepes. I’m more of a savory type of person, so I love this place even more. Everything is seasoned nicely and I just can’t get over their French Onion Soup In A Crêpe. So… delicious… Their specials are fantastic too. Some places offer their«special» dishes, but cannot deliver. But, Crêpe Des Amis can! I adore this place. If I had a bigger budget, I’d come here every Sunday for brunch! Maybe next time, I’ll try their sweet crepes too…

I don’t usually come to New West… But i came here today with my sister to try on a ball gown for her wedding and we needed to find something to eat while the seamstress does some lovely alterations to her beautiful gown… Anyways… Lovely crêpe! I tried their French onion crêpe just because I sounds interesting! The batter for the crêpe is wonderful. You should eat it while it’s nice and hot! The onions gives it a nice sweet and crispy touch! The croutons gives it a nice crunch! And the cheese just oozes in your mouth. However, the crêpe becomes extremely soggy after a few minutes. This crêpe is only good for eat-in and not to go. I can imagine it being really messy if you ordered it to go. And there’s only two rectangular tables in the middle of the market for you to be seated in. So most likely, you’ll have to share tables :) However, overall… I really enjoyed the crêpe I was served. And the owner was really friendly ^^ reasonably priced too! I’d give them 4.5 stars if I could!

Short Version: If you want proper large and well stuffed crepes, this is the place to get them. Variety to please anyone, and a friendly cook to top it off. Long Version: My wife and I, being new to town, were looking for a waffle place. Having not brought the map, we ended up in the River Market looking at the signs when we noticed Crepes. To start with, this market is a great stop for anyone in the area, and is right down the road from a train stop(one stop from our hotel, incidentally). We got there right as she she opened, lucky for us. The couple have added some french music in the background to help with atmosphere, and have decorated appropriately. The husband is French and holds a high standard to making crepes right. We ordered two savory crepes– one Carnaval De Quebec and one Winter Wonderland. We had never had real crepes before, only the little desert things that Californians apparently think count, and this was eye opening. The flavors blended together perfectly, with a little maple to help sweeten it up. She cooked it right in front of us, and I found it to be done exactly as it should be. I really can’t say anything bad about the crepes, or the friendly owner who talked to us about traveling the whole time. We also had some hot chocolate, which was good but too hot. The water needs to be turned down a bit for that, as we both ended up scorching ourselves a little. There’s some room for improvement in communicating the combo items, and possibly in the presentation of some sweet crepes mentioned by others, but these are minor and don’t cost her any points with us. I would have loved to go back again, if not for our traveling pact to always try somewhere new. Maybe next time we come through we’ll have that opportunity.

Love it. Owners are very nice and the crepes are excellent. Nice to support a local business that takes pride in what they serve. Fresh ingredients, wholesome goodness.

I love the ambiance of this place with French lounge music playing in the background, making you feel transported to another place. They also have good lunch combo deals. The owners are very friendly and nice with great customer service. The food itself is okay. I’ve had both savoury and sweet crepes. The sweet Nutella & banana crêpe was actually pretty great. The savoury chicken crêpe was dry and lacking in moisture and really needed some sauce to add flavour and moistness. If they could improve the savoury crepes a bit with more flavour and zest, then this place would be perfect!

4 stars for overall ambience in a market, and owner uses plastic glove when putting the toppings in the crêpe, nice touch. generous toppings for the banana nutella, even a bit too much for those who prefer less sweet. But the chocolate lovers sundae a bit too watery for my liking, though i realized it was meant to be a float, but too much milk-tasting, not enough chocolate. Nice to have its counter seating there.

Lily is great at what she does, plus it helps being the only crêpe place around that caters to vegans! I have ordered the bordeux and yvonne and i’ve been more than pleased. the vegan crepes are amazing, will be returning!

Vegan crêpe? but how?! I’ve always considered creperies a dessert kind of eatery. But I ordered Des Amis’ «French Onion Soup» vegan crêpe and it was the best crêpe dish I’ve ever had! the taste of this particular lunch was so satiating it’s cancelled out my interest in previously enjoyed dessert crêpe orders. I’m’ not even a vegan, but this River Market creperie makes me want to be

Who doesn’t want crepes served by a frenchman wearing a red chef’s hat? Although you can barely understand him through his thick accent, he is very charming and friendly. His wife is also very nice. Their son is usually hanging around, setting up battalions of troops. I love that it’s really a family restaurant! The crepes are great, especially the sweet ones. I also like that they’ve tried to make healthier options. The best(or perhaps worst) discovery was the crêpe cone. Yum!

Great mom and pop creperie in the evolving River Market at the Quay. Crepes are usually overrated. Kind of like having disappointing pancakes(though waffles are still king). But this place dishes out good ones. The owner and the girl working at the time were super enthusiastic and welcoming. The pleasant smell of madeleines baking in the oven(I regret not ordering) made it hard to concentrate on ordering. I went for Quebec(Ham, Canadian maple syrup & cheese) and also sampled the Medditerannee(Roasted chicken, cucumbers, tomatoes, olives, cheese with Mediterranean dressing). They make whole wheat crepes which I definitely prefer. All the ingredients were fresh and surprisingly filling, especially the Medditerannee. With a live singer belting out soulful renditions of Beatles songs, it’s a relaxing place to be. I will be back.

First of all, Christine is right — the toppings aren’t cooked, and I can’t speak for the sweet ones, because all we got was the Parisienne(Ham and Cheese). What I can say, as that the ham and cheese was delicious. A classic ham and cheese. Our crêpe was anything but doughy, and the flavour was eggy and neutral, the way I like a crêpe — after all, It’s not an omelette! Most of the cheese was melted, and the unmelted cheese had added for a nice texture. While the others could benefit from cooked ingredients, the atmosphere is lovely and I don’t feel like the quality was low as indicated below. I rather liked it and will definitely return again — this time for nutella and banana!!! Or that lemon sugar one. I saw that one made and it, quite literally, made my mouth water.

I have been to this wonderful crepes place many times. I’ve enjoyed the Lyons and the Mediterranean crepes. Both were very hot, super fresh(mushroms and spinach) and delicious. Other patrons were also raving about the crepes every time I’ve been here. The owner is french and very friendly. They play traditional french music while he makes the crepes in front of you. It’s a nice causal atmosphere. It’s quick, tasty, healthy and easy!

This brand-new Parisian-style crêpe shop in the River Market looked good, but didn’t deliver the goods. The crepes were bland and doughy, and despite being freshly made before our eyes, they were also lukewarm. My savoury Cannes crêpe benefited a little from some melted cheese in the centre, but otherwise featured raw spinach, mushrooms and tomatoes. Raw mushrooms = ech. My husband’s sweet Isabelle crêpe with peanut butter and chocolate sounded promising, but the PB tasted gross and the chocolate was not good quality — it was a blessing there was so few sad little chocolate chips sprinkled into the crêpe. Presentation and toppings are also really lacking, as in non-existent. If you’re going to have chocolate for example, why not drizzle some good chocolate across the crêpe, and maybe offer whipped cream or maple syrup as options? For savouries, use some cooked ingredients and sprinkle some good cheese or drizzle some kind of sauce on it to liven things up.(the owner/chef is French, so I would hope he would have some passing acquaintance with sauces). Anything to prevent me from feeling like I’m eating a dry, cold pancake with raw food inside. I kind of got bored with eating the thing, frankly, before I was done. This creperie needs to kick up the ingredient quality a couple notches, get their grills at optimal heat, and figure out how to deliver at least a warm crêpe if they want my return business.
