This was the disappointment of the year. My friends and I frequented here until a year ago when I retired from a job in New West. We arrived at 5:30 for the«happy hour» — NOT. The powers that be no longer have a happy hour. Patio was empty, on a nice night, and there were 3 people inside. this place used to be busy, especially at happy hour. I had my standard order — New York strip loin. Oh my gosh. I ordered medium, it came to the table rare. After a short deliberation I decided to complain. The steak was wisked away, and help for at least a good 10 minutes(or longer). In the meantime my friend ate here«too small«order of dry ribs, with oh so awful French fries. What happened to their great little salads that came under an appy, or your own chips. My steak returned, colder and still rare. The so called sauce was runny and the mashed lumpy potatoes were soggy. Side veggies were the only consolation. As the evening progressed, a few people came and sat in the patio. There was a party of sorts going on in the back room. Maybe they were too busy there. Our waiter was pleasant, and did his best but unless they hire a new chef, we will NOT be returning. There would have been live music later, but when we left at 8:00, there were few people there. No wonder. What ever happened to their great meals, and changing the menu did nothing for us. Their wonderful apple pie with streusel crust no longer available, only a so so apple tart. Where is the owner here to taste with out.

This is an awesome local little bar. Opened until 2am every night of the week, they serve food until 1:30am as well! Perhaps the most awesome thing about this place is that they have live music every single night! Food is great. The service staff are great. This place is a hidden gem! Definitely check out The Heritage.

I stopped in here last night to support a couple of friends who were performing live music. Took the ‘rents along, as they often frequent this place on weekends for live music. Thought it would be a fun way to spend a Thursday night. The place is kind of grungy — I wouldn’t say dumpy, but not refined by any stretch. There are plenty of seats available and a tiny stage/dance floor near the front. The lighting was dimmed, giving it a cozy, intimate feel. The back of the restaurant behind the bar has another seating area where other events take place from what I gather; there was a «Family Feud» event happening while my friends played their set. This didn’t take away from the show, meaning that both events could happen without one overpowering the other in terms of noise. I didn’t eat anything, but ordered a tea. It was tea, not much to write home about. I came for the music not the food, but will come back and give it a try as there were some tempting menu options available. My friends did an awesome job with their set, and lots of their friends came out to support them which was nice! I found it a quaint place to go for some local live music and would likely go again. Apparently on weekends it is packed with people; they have all sorts of live acts, open mic Mondays, and drag nights on Sundays. New West gets a bad rap for not having anything to do or anywhere to go, but as I am getting interested in seeing live music by local artists, I think this may be a place I frequent more often.

My friend Matt below basically wrote a novel and explained our experience here perfectly. It was hands down the best night we had in Vancouver. Plus our waiter Braedyn was super hot and gave us a free shot that he created. We will for sure be visiting again.

AMAZING! My friends and I were visiting from California. After being shunned from The Met down the street(look there for full review), we were told to check out Heritage. When we walk up we were greeted by the owners bulldog, Mr. Wrinkles, and a man named Braedyn who later will be known as our waiter. Both lovely, so we got a table. To write the full story of our 2 and half hour there would be a novel. But basically the food, drinks and service were amazing — the bartender gave us a very unique shot where they light it on fire followed by him breathing fire. Our waiter, Braedyn, was so nice and personable we actually related because he came from Southern California as well — my whole party exchanged Facebook information with him. Also while all this was going on a very unique band called Blackberry Wood was performing, and I have seen probably 200+ bands in my lifetime and this band was nothing like I have seen. The best way I could describe it is folk, indie, swing, circus music. Once in a lifetime type of experience. Thanks for making us Americans welcome!

I helped run an event in the back room, and it was HUGELY successful. This is in no small part to the amazing staff. They were so friendly and helpful, and genuinely seemed to enjoy having us there. I am very much looking forward to running events there in the future. Also the food and drinks were so delicious, so even if you are just going for a dinner with friends, I definitely recommend this place.

I came here as my guitar teacher was having a CD release party and of course I wanted to come out and support him as he has been there through every single step of my musical journey and as a student has had to put up a lot with me. Back room where the private party was held was really warm. There was a small air conditioner, however, it took a good 90 minutes to cool down and even then it was still pretty warm. The party itself was awesome, really good turn out. I was lucky enough to grab a seat early as by 9 it was standing room only. I mostly drank herbal tea and a side of fries. I could tell that the fries were made with fresh oil which made a huge difference. Service was amazing. Our server did an amazing job at handling the party with so many orders and table. The place itself is small and narrow, therefore, it gets pretty packed on a Saturday night. In the main room of the establishment was a house band. I jumped between parties to hear both bands. Two doors down from Columbia train station making it easier for a safe ride home. Free wifi. No log in required. Wifi doesn’t extend to back room.

Those that give 3+ stars must have low expectations. Was there on the weekend. Band was quite loud. Smoke from the sidewalk was drifting in as far as the bathrooms. ugh. I was sitting at the table with a great view of behind the bar. I never saw the bartender use a metal scoop to get ice into drinks but used the actual glass.(Think about broken glass in your drink.) Horrible unprofessional practice! Same towel was being used to wipe down everything. Ugh. Lousy lousy. Our food took 45 minutes for a basket of wings and nachos. WTF? The nachos were lackluster and boring, even with forgotten toppings. No guacamole? $ 4.50 for some added previously frozen tasteless chicken cubes??? Phuck me. At least they were not nuked. Since the ppl in my party were all driving, we weren’t drinking. The refills came without any ice as our server was just too lazy. Gotta love warm water/pop. The server was just«not there» if you know what I mean. I’ll never go back.

This is a hard one to review. The patio is much better now that people are no longer smoking on it, but like some of the other reviews, the place needs a serious overhaul. Dirty, stinky, odd service and one of the worst entertainers blasting bad music while we ate. The food is ok, their house salad is good, but the rest of the meal unmemorable. Sometimes they have jazz band playing outside on the street which is cool. It’s nice to hear music on the street. This is a «gay friendly» place so expect a little attitude. I hear there are some drag shows in the back, but that’s not enough to bring us back. And the art on the walls… YIKES. Not impressed.

I want to desperately give a good review but the food. I was so disappointed. The service was phenomenal. Like absolutely. The girl serving us was amazing and the cooks were really nice as well as the environment was on point. The Ella Fitzgerald playing? Swoon. Mr Paganini drew me in. The food though. Crazy expensive for what we got. $ 11 martinis that were mostly mixer. The tiniest bit on rice with like, 4 thumb sizes of dry chicken. And this was an «entrée». Smaller than their appie. Their calamari was severely under seasoned and a little soggy too. Much too reliant on the tzatziki. Hear of «salt» or even«pepper» anyone? I spent $ 50 bucks there and left only /kind of /drunk and still kinda hungry after eating overpriced, bland soggy food. I didn’t even know how much my drinks were because the price wasn’t on the menu but I thought oh, it’s probably normal price. Lolnope. I can see why that place was empty when I went in.

Had a wonderful breakfast. The service was very good and the eggs were cooked perfect. Our server even lent us her personal pen so my wife do the crossword.

We have been here on several occasions and the food is just wonderful. Last night I had a delicious steak with mushroom glaze garlic mashed potatoes and veggies, fabulous. If I had one critique it would be that they have eliminated the wonderful home made chips and replaced them with fries. The entertainment and dancing is the reason we have always gone here but what an added bonus to have such great food.

Great potential, aweful execution. Been here a few times. First time, my husband and I wanted to have dinner on the patio, and there were people smoking everywhere. Gross!!! Isn’t it illegal? Been here a few times for just drinking, and its okay i guess, really old in a dirty kind of way, but cool that theres live music all the time. Recently went to a friends birthday party in the back room, and I feel like the guy was new to serving. He had no idea. Super nice, so I felt super bad for him. Also, over $ 10 for a well double? Rediculous.

The live music was entertaining. Seeing a mouse on the floor was disgusting!!! When I told a staff I saw a mouse they sort of blew it off like no big deal…

Disgusting… the cigarette smoke from the patio blows in! Seats smell like urine, filthy booths and dark, gloomy atmosphere. The patrons are mostly geriatrics and I’ve hardly seen any young people step in here. Been here twice now with a friend on a weekday after work hours about 6 and on a weekend Sunday afternoon lunch. Food is nothing special and even boring. Overpriced for the crappy, dark atmosphere and stink of smokers outside. Thanks HG for the soup, stink of piss and heavy toxic dose of second hand smoke! Ugh!!!

Smokey, dirty, run down, zero vibe. There’s a blue tooth speaker taped to the ceiling somewhere near the entrance that makes some of the most hideous noises I’ve ever heard. Somebody turn that thing off! And what’s with the creepy overweight guy that lingers near the entrance, touching every living breathing body that comes within 4 ft of him? Good grief. Bartender(Kevin) was friendly and quick to get our drinks. I wouldn’t normally go straight to the bar when there is obviously servers milling about, but it looked like a gong show, and at 1am, with no knowledge of when last call was, I wasn’t about to take my chances. I’ll stop in again if I’m looking for trouble after 11pm, but I won’t make it my first, second, or third choice of places to start.

Short version: Great atmosphere, pay attention to the music lineup for the full experience, and good food to go with it. Long version: After driving from Crater Lake, Oregon, my wife and I needed somewhere close to our New Westminster hotel and open after nine. This was the only option, but it turned out to be a great one. We shared the stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer, and had the pesto crusted salmon as a main course. Our portions were reasonable. The mushrooms came arranged very attractive y, I believe five in all, stuffed with a combination mostly focused on cheese. Which is not a problem for me. The fish was simple, but cooked perfectly, and the pesto smeared on top was miles(or kilometers, I suppose) above anything you can buy in the store. Highly recommended. More importantly, however, was the live music. The space is clearly focused on one thing– providing a venue for listening to local musicians while enjoying drinks and, if you’d like, some food. It accomplished that expertly. We did end up waiting a while to be served, but we were also there later than most of the dinner eating crowd and on an especially busy weekend. So I can’t say how quick the service usually is. I will say the staff was polite and professional through and through. Just keep this in mind if you’re in a hurry. The Heritage seems to be the type of place you go to spend time at, not to eat and run. Staffing could be improved, but that’s true of most places. Recommended if you’re in the area and need a place to duck in and get a warm meal. Definitely keep an eye on the music lineup. We were only visiting for a few days in Vancouver, but I think locals will be happy with their support and display of local music.

So we had a large group(55 people) function there last night, and I immediately went to Unilocal to check if I should bother getting food there or not. Needless to say, Unilocal advised against everything, so thankfully I ended up getting food elsewhere first. But I figured I would have a few drinks at the heritage grill because surely they can’t mess up drinks. Boy was I wrong! After an hour of watching the 3 or 4 servers attend all the tables except ours, I flagged one down, and our table put in a simple drink order. No alcohol, no fancy stuff, just 4 cokes. An hour went by and still no drinks, so I finally got a hold of our server and asked what was going on. She claimed that she was the only server on duty that night, which was a blatant lie. And 2 hours later we finally got our drinks, which were served in the tiniest highball glasses you could imagine, and were mostly ice. My drink was gone before the server even left our table. While mingling with the rest of the large group attendees, the general consensus was that the food was terrible at best, and $ 25 for a plate of cafeteria food was outrageous. After 3.5 hours many of the group hadn’t received any drinks, and even less of this group had gotten food, despite placing orders which never got filled. Anyways, thanks Unilocal for saving me from getting food here.

So I was at the Heritage Grill tonight with a large group in the back room… I don’t think I’ll ever go back. Here’s a short list of why: 1-Three servers were going around taking orders at every table but ours for 45 minutes 2-After we flagged down the server and got her to take the order we gave it an hour before finally one of us went and found her to find out what was going on — she claimed she was the only server for the back room… ridiculous. 45 – 50 people and she was the only server when we’d seen three in there? really? 3-Who has a room, full of people, with a fully stocked bar, and NOBARTENDERATTHEBAR? They lost a lot of money because of that. 4-One of the group after 2.5−3 hours still hadn’t gotten any of the food or drink items she ordered when she arrived for the meetup. 5-After an hour and a half wait the drinks i got were so tiny that they were gone in less than a minute because we were all super dehydrated from how dry the air was in that room… the portion sizing was pathetic! And we didn’t even order alcoholic drinks that would require smaller glasses! Needless to say if it’s that hard to get drinks, I’m glad I ate elsewhere before the meetup…
