Craving wor wun-tun, i was quite disappointed by what I got. The portion was decent, the wun-tuns themselves were good, the veggies and pork were good, but the broth? OMG it was SO fishy. Coworkers commented as soon as I opened that container that my lunch had a very strong fish odor. Even being all stuffed up from my cold and not having the keenest sense of smell right now I found it overwhelming and unpleasant. Not what I expected at all. I have enjoyed other dishes here but will never order any kind of soup from here again.

We have been going to Hon’s forever. The quality varies by location and time — found out that the locations are franchises. We dropped by this site because my wife felt like having wonton on a rainy evening. I was looking for veggie dishes. They had some good specials — really just recommended items, not a cheaper dish. This site had a combo with soup, small bowl of rice, and a choice of an entrée dish for $ 10. We each ordered a combo + a couple more dishes. My wife’s wonton came first … Always a consistent dish across all Hon’s locations. Nice that it had 5 wontons in it, which is more than one would expect for an appetizer order. Then came one of the other dishes — seafood and veggies. Hey, where is my soup? Then came my wife’s combo of beef and broccoli. Wow they put a lot of rice on the dish. Then came my hot and sour soup. It was pretty good a bit thicker than usual, but tasty. Then my veggie and fish slices combo came, with a lot of rice. Finally, we got our fried rice noodle and beef — where’s the beef? Overall, it was good. The order and slightly longer wait for the dishes — no two dishes came together and there was a bit of a break or wait between dish arrivals — was unusual for a Hon’s, but remember I said that things tend to vary by locations. I would rank this site in the middle of the sites we have been to … Robson being the best and Coquitlam being the worst. Still a good Hon’s location.

Not a fan of American Chinese food. I don’t wanna be back again as there are many authentic choices out there.

When we went: Easter Monday What we got(four people): deep fried squid sliced beef congee(small) Singaporean vermicelli sticky fried rice(or fried sticky rice?) deep fried char sui pork bun XO sauce rice flour roll What we liked: The portions for the vermicelli, the congee, and the rice were huge! We definitely got way more than we could finish, and they were the cheaper lunch specials too. It was very spacious and uncrowded. The congee was nice and thick, unlike other places where it’s mostly watery – although it is up to preference Fortune cookies! What we liked less: The food came at strange speeds, the squid first, then the big ones, then the dim sum items The squid, although very delicious, was quite small in comparison Recommendations: The deep fried char siu pork bun. It was the first time I’ve had it anywhere and it was delicious and crunchy. Any of the lunch specials are definitely worth it, and only a dollar extra for drinks. Who it’s for: Anyone used to standard Chinese food looking for a good deal and large portions.

Always good food, fast service, above average wonton house food. The broth is tasty, you can request lean barbecue pork, and the wontons are also delish. I especially like their fried rice and their dim sum is also yummy. Worth a visit and good home delivery too.

I work around the area and I like going to Hon’s when I’m craving for«fast-food» Chinese food. The food is pretty standard for a Hon’s — I refer to them as «fast food» as the food tastes good, it’s pretty greasy, comes out quickly, and is probably not very good for you — but it does hit the spot(and for cheap!). This is a popular spot for lunch time but the wait is never long. They recently renovated the restaurant and it is clean and bright inside. I didn’t realize how much I enjoyed eating at this Hon’s until they closed for renovations for several weeks last year and I caught myself calling them every week to check if they were re-openned yet. For lunch I enjoy getting the beef brisket with noodles. If you order off their lunch specials, the portion size is pretty big and is good for sharing.

Had lunch there yesterday and my experience was mixed. Potstickers were very good. Wonton soup was super fishy and not well flavored. Beef and broccoli was nice, Singapore noodles were average. In the end, it was well priced but I will be careful about what I order next time.

Been going to this location since I was a baby and have nothing but good things to say. I always order the chicken potstickers panfried, shrimp spring roll, wonton soup with #1 noodle and a crispy noodle dish usually with beef, veggies and black bean sauce. Can’t go wrong with that, even my picky husband loves it. Wash it down with a Chinese Lager. Mmmm. Recent renovations have the place looking much cleaner. Best Chinese Food in BC! Check out other locations too!

Wow, this is the spiffiest Hon’s that I’ve been too! Seriously, the other locations look so run down, but this one is sparkly and brand new! Hon’s is what you would expect. Classic Cantonese comfort food. Nothing mindblowingly amazing, but decently yummy nonetheless! Go for the classics: fried rice, wonton mien, congee, etc, and you’ll leave satisfied. However, for a place like this, the prices are a bit high. Some of the dishes are over $ 10! The portion sizes make up for it though. The waitresses here are quite nice. And the washrooms are SUPERCLEAN(bonus points!!)

Hon’s has resurrected and we are regular patrons now. It was renovated, including washrooms. Much cleaner. Happier staff and friendly new manager. We like going there again. Food is back to original tastiness.

Just not what it once was. The dishes get smaller, the quality is lot less than what it once was. Our food was delivered cold tonight, had to microwave it all. Still make great wun tun soup but so do many other places. Walk a few blocks down and check out Ho Fung. Great service, delicous(and hot) food.

So among my friends opinions are split on this place. Half of us are fan(that’s me) half of us hate is(that’s them). I enjoy this place. The price is right, the food is tasty(although it can be a tad greasy), and this place lacks any pretension. They know what they do, and they do it well. Don’t expect 5 star service or a gourmet experience, but if you’re looking for some Chinese food take-out staples, this is the place to go.

Congee is bland and seemed to be missing ginger. Deep Fried/Battered Squid and Crispy Chow Mien(Chicken and Vegetables) ordered to go and arrived soggy. These could have been packaged better. Chow Mien had a sauce that did not taste good. Unfortunately will be throwing this out.

Our first time at this New West Hon’s location. We wanted to see if they’re similar to the downtown and Coquitlam locations. This place has been recently renovated and the interior is very bright and clean. We got here around 3pm and there were a lot of people, which I think is a good sign. We were greeted and seated in a timely manner. Our server has a Chinese accent and she’s really sweet, too. She’s also very friendly which made our first visit a good first impression. Their menus have some similarities with the other Hon’s, but most of their items on their menu are exclusive to this location. We’ve ordered their Deep-fried shredded crispy beef braised in ginger and onion sauce. It was so good! Very tasty. I’ve never tried anything like it before. The beef was crispy and taste so fresh as well. Yummy crispy vegetables as well. We also tried their crispy chicken with lemon sauce. Very yummy. Lightly battered and didn’t taste greasy. The only thing we weren’t sure about was the Flat noodle with beef and bean sprouts noodle. It didn’t taste bad. It was good, but was not tasty. Our experience here at this place was superb, though. We will definitely come back! I’d say, out of the three Hon’s locations, this is the best one. Our new main favourite place!

This place is a fantastic hidden gem in Uptown. Trolling for soup close to work during the rain today, came across Hons. I grabbed a 15410 pc shrimp & pork wun-tun in soup and an order of pork pot stickers for $ 9 and change. Both were excellent. I mean, I will say I’ve had better pot stickers, but for the price they were tasty. Truly enjoyed the soup also. Service was speedy, lots of helpful polite staff. I’ll be back for sure.

My parents and I have been coming here since I was five years old. Of course being the picky eater I was I never ate Hon’s but they were so nice to accommodate me bringing in my McDonald’s happy meal. This stopped once I turned 8 or so. I cringe every time I think about doing that… but anyways. It’s a good old Chinese diner. I’ve been to their other locations, but the New West location is definitely the best. I start with a nice hot bowl of won ton soup every time. We usually order Ma Po Tofu, cod and tofu hot pot, spicy cod and broccoli, and steamed chicken potstickers. I’m not a big fan of «traditional» Chinese food ie: sweet and sour pork, fried rice, chow mein, etc. I feel like I could order those things at a mall food court. The prices have gone up over the years, but it is still relatively cheap. We always get a friendly greeting from staff, probably due to being regulars for so many years, and our food is always hot and arrives promptly. There’s a reason we’ve been going here for so many years. Give it a try, it’s delicious.

Hon’s is probably one of the best Chinese restaurants in New West. The place is always busy so you might have to wait to get a seat. The staff are friendly and the food comes out blazing hot in just a few minutes after ordering. You can feed 4 people easily for $ 60 bucks. You have to try their BBQ duck, BBQ pork and their wonton soup. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed. A must if you’re in the area for some good old cheap Chinese food.

Do you want delicious chinese food? Because Hon’s is where you get delicious chinese food. Seriously though, I’ve been to the Vancouver location several times and was always blown away by the stuff there. The new west location is just as impressive. I’m not even a fan of Sweet & Sour Pork but there’s is amazing. The BBQ Duck &BBQ Pork are both delicious, and their BBQ Pork Fried Rice(my personal fav) is always the absolute best. Try the Wonton Soup, it’s in the name after all!

Finaly came here today. The place is packed but we were sat down within a few minutes. We were given menues quickly and our orders were taken fast as well. Had the sticky rice, beef and green beans in blackbean sauce, pork buns, pot stickers. The service was fast and efficient. The food was good and the prices were good as well. I have to go back and try their wun tun soup. The place is clean and bright.

For the price, I would rate Hon’s in New West as 3 ½ stars. We stopped by here on a Friday night for some takeout. The interior is pretty bland, but we were getting food to-go. We got: Large plain congee: good, standard congee Fried chicken wings: these were really good(even after the 15 minute drive back home), with a decent amount of garlic and jalepenos. BBQ pork wonton noodle soup: huge order, although the broth was a little bit salty. Steamed fish and tofu with black bean sauce: this dish was ok, but it sounded better than it tasted(a little bland). I like that they have a website with their full menu on it. Also, when you get an order to go, they give you a discount(10% I believe). All 4 dishes came to $ 31 including tax. Hon’s isn’t gourmet Chinese food, but for the price, it is a pretty good choice, especially for take out.
