I have lived in the apartment on top of Lou Lou lounge for five years now. I was going to write a review before but didn’t think I was ever going to have to go back and didn’t want bad karma of talking down about someone’s company, but today I am just fed up. Let’s start with a few years back. My bestfriend ordered an egg wrap and asked for spinache in it… The woman put spinache and egg in a blender until the entire egg was green. YESGREENEGGSLOL! And just put that in the wrap with nothing else. Just a sprinkle of parmagan. My bestfriend took one bite and threw it in the garbage. Another time me and a different friend from out of town went in there and knowing it was a bad idea I still just went anyways. My friend got macaroons. I got caramel bar… They looked soft but were hard as rocks. Like you could break your teeth on one. I asked«aren’t these supposed to be soft?» The lady replied«they are soft when they get out of the oven» … We just threw them away. I’ve had many friends go downstairs because it is convenient being in the building. And all have complained. The worst part is that the food looks so delicious but they are extremely cheap with the food. Cheap food. Oh and there’s more. I ordered a chicken salad one time thinking«what could possibly go wrong with a chicken salad?» The chicken was hard and dry as if it was old and sitting out in the air. Like if you leave cooked chicken out for a long period of time it turns hard. Threw that in the garbage. The only thing I ever enjoyed there was the chicken parmasan wrap… BUT that was the way they made it when they first started. I told her today I will just take that since I know what I’m getting. She agreed… Now, I get upstairs. I take one bite and I’m just beyond confused. I open the wrap up and it is drenched in mayonaise and flavourless ranch… Processed dry chicken… Soggy lettuce I did not ask for. And literally a sprinkle of parmagan cheese IFTHAT. $ 11.00 for one bite that I spit out. Threw the rest in the garbage. Just in disgust because I was really hungry and still am. I would have been happier throwing that 11 dollars off of my balcony… I am in shock this place is still open. I really wasn’t going to write a review before and I even had to sign up for Unilocal just to do this. My friends have told me to do it in the past but I just didn’t have the heart to do it, but now that I look back on all the money wasted. It’s such a shame. If I can say anything good about this place it’s that it has free wifi. Other then that… I really am confused how it stays open. I’ve had my friends complain in the past of the woman’s attitude. The desserts seem like they are shipped in from costco. If it’s just coffee and wifi your looking for this is your spot but honestly I wish I could get my money back for every disappointment. I will never return back to this restaraunt and I will strongly advise my friends not to waste a dollar there aswell.

The food is absolutely to die for! I had a breakfast bagel and my boyfriend has the French toast and eggs and both were amazing. Very home made tasting and total comfort! Very clean and spacious and the woman was very welcoming! Must go!

The atmosphere in Lou Lou is very nice, but that is where the positive experience ends. I’ve eaten here several times, and each time actually seemed worse than the time before. In spite of the place being almost completely empty, and our food being entirely reheated from the cooler, service was slower than expected. The food itself is uninspired. Most recently, I had the chicken quiche, which was dry and flavourless. The accompanying salad(essentially lettuce with a few tomatoes) was dressed in a simple oil and vinegar, which failed to add any character to an already boring dish.

Spacious and clean, this café is just off the street and just off the really long steps coming off Carnavon. If you live here, you’ll probably walk within 50 yards of it without knowing. Not coming here would be a shame. The place is massive inside, with a mix of high back armless chairs and soft high armed ones. Stone walls and hardwood floors with enough space to dissipate sound. If you want to hear the TV, or just the background music, you can pick a spot to do that. The coffee is good, my cappuccino was quick and delicious. They even gave me a little spoon, without having to ask. Good foam. The staff are gorgeous. I _never_mention this, especially for a coffee shop, but I feel like in this case, it warrants mentioning. Having been to most of the other bars and coffee shops in new west by now, I can honestly say they’re the hottest servers in New West, including any of the bars up the hill or down.

A great selection of healthy food and fresh baked naughty treats that is VERY welcome in this area of New Westminster, which is so sparse on the truly healthy options. My lunch was delicious, especially the in-house baked croissant that my awesome turkey sandwich came on. Very nice tables, airy space, beautiful presentation and a real concern for customizing just the way I wanted it. I really hope you go check it out because having a place like this to eat in downtown New West deserves support!
