Came here because of the excellent rating on Unilocal but it is a terrible experience. The restaurant was empty when we got there. However, we waited for 30 mins to get our food while other guests who just came got their food already. At the same time, the server didn’t even bother talking to us and getting us more water. When the food came, the linguini pestacore I ordered was very oily. Half of the dish is full of oil… This place isn’t worth the money and it is a disappointing meal.

The Unilocal reviews are very deceiving. This restaurant is definitely not worth its high rating! Ordered the veal parm and it was below average, I’ve had much better. I actually thought it was one of the better meals on the table. My friends ordered the penne a la vodka, beef tenderloin and linguine pescatore. The penne and beef tenderloin were both bland and the linguine was extremely oily. My friends definitely did not have an enjoyable experience. In addition, the service was not that good. We did not get refills on water very often(the restaurant wasn’t even that busy). And our food took a long time to arrive, about 30 – 45 minutes. Waitress also seemed to start ignoring us when she realized we did not like the food very much. Didn’t do anything to try to improve our dinner experience. Will not be a returning customer.

We had the Saffron Seafood Risotto and Veal Parm. Regarding the Risotto, the portion size was just right. Plenty of shrimp, scallops, and lobster chunks. They were not stingy with the seafood at all. However the seafood had a strong fishy smell indicating that it may not have been fresh seafood. House salad was great, very fresh ingredients, and nice house-dressing. They haven’t established a dress code. Some patrons were in dressy-wear, while some were in casual-wear. I may or may not re-visit, but I urge Unilocalers to give it a try.

Wanted to give this place more stars, and tried it based on the amazing reviews. The best things that we had were the homemade Italian bread from the bakery down the street, the house made chick pea spread, our appetizer(the grilled procuitto), and a bottle of some of the local wine. The service was slow, and we never got our water refilled, and the waitress never came over to pour us more wine, we always had to do everything ourselves. We ordered the Caesar salad, the parmesan was fresh, and the dressing was out of a bottle, and tasted ranch based; although the bacon bits were homemade. The gnochi was not so fresh. The meatballs were not terrible, they did taste like they were veal, but could have use more seasoning. The veal osso bucco tasted boiled and parts of it over cooked, and the risotto was nice and creamy with fresh mushrooms, but it tasted like it clearly was made from canned cream of mushroom soup! To top it off, when we received our bill, we were charged $ 7 for sharing a plate, even though our total bill was over $ 100! We were told even though there were only 3 of us and we ordered 2 entrees that we were charged for 2 people sharing an entrée. That math does not work. There was an extra charge of $ 3.33 that we never we told about and could not find out, like it was for extra of something, maybe bread. And… it took us over 10 minutes to find a parking space because the restaurant is in a hotel parking lot, so we had to circle the parking lot several times until someone left.

We enjoyed our dinner at Angello’s. After a lot of research, we picked this special spot to have a late night dinner following the magic show up the street. Dino looked after us, and he was terrific. As attentive as necessary. Our meal was terrific. My fiancée had the risotto, they were happy to customize it for her, just how she wanted it, spicy, like me. I had the veal parm. I know, boring right? Wrong. I love a good veal parm, and this was great. And, unlike most restaurants, I was able to get it with a side of carbonara. Wow, 2 great meals in one. Our dinner was a perfect finish to a wonderful day. Thank you!

Went to Angelo’s around 6:30 on 7÷14÷15 and had a great dinner as expected because of the reviews I’ve read. The place was half full and our server/owner immediately waited on us. We ordered, the bottle of wine was quickly brought out along with warm hard crusted bread. We split the half order of the Caesar salad, which ended up being a small portion but for us a perfect bite. I order the penne vodka along with a side order of meatballs(you get two nice size ones) — it was a large delicious serving and I ended stuffed. My wife ordered the seafood risotto. It too was delicious. It was creamy and stayed creamy while eating, and it was jammed full of shrimp, lobster, and scallops. Dino was tentative but not intrusive, a great server. He appeared to be the only sever but yet we never waited on anything! Really enjoyed our meal, the atmosphere was cozy but yet spacious and we would return.

We love this place! The food is fresh and homemade traditional Italian. The caprese salad was excellent. I had the lasagna and my husband had the chicken parmigiana, both excellent. Service was also very good.

I gave this place zero stars. We walked in to be seated nobody bothered to greet us until we caught their attention. The server seated us and didn’t ask us what we would like to drink. The server poured us some water and left. The menu was limited not much of a variety. The appetizers consisted of calamari made in several different ways. The entrees was mostly veal made in several different ways. The server took our order and as we were waiting for 40 minutes we asked them for a basket of bread. So 40 minutes later with no food yet they had served us a basket of bread. While we were there we were treated as if we were a nuisance to the restaurant. Overall we felt unwanted and un welcomed. Experience was overall bad.

Go to this restaurant! The food here is absolutely amazing, and the service is outstanding. Portions are generous and you truly can’t find better Italian in Niagara. If you are a seafood lover; try the linguine pescatore– this dish has never been done better. But there really is no going wrong with such a wonderfully executed menu. Dino will likely seat you, and serve you, with the greatest attitude and will always make sure your wine glass is topped up. Angelo will create absolutely delicious food and then take the time to come out from the kitchen and make sure it’s spot on and to your liking. Give it a try– your stomach will thank you!

Excellent old school Italian food. Nothing overly ambitious or original — just good ingredients carefully prepared. Enjoyed delicious osso bucco with mushroom risotto that demonstrated a kitchen that didn’t cut corners. I frankly didn’t expect any special going in but great food combined with relaxed but professional service resulted in a memorable dinner.

We stopped into Angelo’s thanks to Unilocal! We had just arrived into town after 8pm from Albany NY and were looking for a quick bite to eat. Thanks to Unilocal,we decided on Angelo’s and we are so very thankful we did. It was very quiet in the restaurant with maybe only 3 – 4 other tables filled. Our server(sorry I did not catch his first name but his last name was a variation of DeLuca, that he happened to share in common with another diner… but I digress!). Mr DeLuca could not have been more attentive to us. My girlfriend started with a Pinot Grigio and I with a Bushmills and ginger(must add that my mixed drink was poured perfectly and only $ 4 Canadian!). I ordered the Chicken Parm and my date the Penne Ala Vodka w/Shrimp. We both agreed it was some of the best Italian we had ever eaten let alone one of the best restaurant experiences we have had the pleasure of having. As a previous reviewer mentioned, how refreshing to find this place amongst the hordes of chain restaurants around. Thanks so much Angelo’s — You get it!

We were seated in a booth and the waiter was such a nice and friendly guy! We forgot his name but he was definitely super helpful with the menu and what to order — and also helped modify a dish for my picky-eating husband! For appetizers we ordered the calamari; and my husband had asked for them to grill it instead of deep-frying it. What a great tip! The calamari turned out perfect and we were served salads beforehand — great greens — no rotting ones and just the right amount of oil and flavour. Next our entrees came and I ordered spaghetti while he ordered a penne pasta with seafood. His was delicious; however my portion was huge! And a bit on the dry side, but nonetheless it was still good — I just may not order that next time I go there. We tried ordering crème brûlée but due to the previous night it was much busier and the dessert was a hit that they ran out of it sadly so we were a little disappointed. We ended up not ordering anything from the dessert menu and called it a night. My experience here was amazing and due to the server being so attentive the entire time there — refilling our waters constantly and asking us how our food was, making small conversation here and there. I will definitely recommend this place and come back here again whenever I am in the area. Truly a gem in a spot you would never have thought of!

When we go out of town, I tend to obsess for weeks over where we are going to eat. I figure it’s where we spend most of our hard-earned money, and it’s what we like to do most as a family. Instead of being lured into tourist traps that gouge prices I like to find out where the locals eat, and usually save a few bucks or more in the process and am often pleased with the results. I found Angelo’s between Unilocal and TripAdvisor. As an Italian, I tend to be wary of Italian restaurants, but figured we should give it a shot due to some of the good reviews I read. For starters, there’s a parking lot in the back. That you don’t have to pay to park your car in. Unthinkable in Niagara Falls. We did notice a sign that said it was for hotel patrons only, but upon asking inside the restaurant they said it was okay. Not sure if this is true, but we took the risk anyway and our car was still there when we got out. The ambience inside is perfect. The dimmed lighting is not too dim, and casts a warm glow over the dining room. The tables are made private by high-backed seating, especially in the booths. There were only two people on the floor that we could see that night. Our waitress, who looked like my cousin Antoinette, and a taller man who appeared to be running his ass off. I asked for a glass of Chianti to start. Antoinette asked the man if it was served by the glass as he ran by and he snapped«No!» and kept on moving. Okay. I can pretend he’s my cranky Uncle Salvatore just this once and let it slide. I asked for a recommendation comparable to Chianti and Antoinette told me she would ask Uncle Sal as he was really good at picking wines for people. My wine was good, it was a Shiraz. It was served in a water glass though which confused me. If I can’t be served a good, red wine in a stemmed glass you might as well serve it up in a coffee cup, just my opinion. My ten year old chose the Grilled Proscuitto and Fresh Mozzarella appetizer. It was delicious — perfectly grilled and drizzled with balsamic. There were three pieces total; and considering I could buy all the ingredients at home for under $ 7 and make appetizers for at least four people I think at least five(at $ 11) would have been sufficient for us. Aside from that — really delicious. The house-made hummus that was served with the bread was garlicky and also delicious. No idea if the bread was fresh but alas we didn’t care — the hummus was that good. My salad was freakin’ perfect with the exception of the oil and vinegar dressing which was mostly oil and little vinegar. For the first time in my life, I had to salt a salad. But other than that, I love when I can get just a good old salad with fresh vegetables and no frills. I was pleased. My husband and I both ordered the gnocchi, which is what I order at every Italian restaurant to test their authenticity. Pretty sure the gnocchi were frozen, which is sadly the norm, but they were still good really. Oddly enough my husband and I both had two completely different sauces in our dish. Mine was thin and tasty while his was much darker, thicker and sweeter. Strange. Not enough to piss me off though. The boy ordered a bowl of penne and had no complaints. Because we are Stupid Americans, we realized much later after our dinner that we completely ripped off Cousin Antoinette by thinking the HST tax of $ 12.00 was our tip included in the bill. Sorry about that Antoinette, we thought you were a decent waitress and if we come back next year we will make up for it. And for you, Uncle Salvatore, thanks for picking the $ 15.00 glass of Shiraz, you figlio di una cagna!

When I think about dining in Niagara Falls, I think of a city overrun with corporate chains and aging independent places with mediocre everything… But I’m glad to say that Angelo’s is a breath of fresh air that has given me hope. Quaint and cozy interiors, authentic Italian fare, and well priced bottles of locally made wines, what more could one look for in a dining experience? We started with the Arancini rice balls which were nice and big but admittedly the weak link in our tasting experience. We followed that with the Grilled Prosciutto wrapped Fresh Mozzarella which were a perfection of flavour combinations and tasty pig meat, full marks on that one. As a main I went with the 14 oz Veal Chop which was well prepared and a good portion size which left me very satisfied. At first I thought it was a bit overseasoned, but as the meal went on my pallet adjusted and enjoyed the rosemary and thyme seasoned entrée quite a lot. Services was on point and friendly, and you can see there is the intent to please from those working, so throw a couple bottles of wine down the hatch and dig in to some dinner and you’ll be likely experiencing the next 5 star review for this place. sidenote: If I could fault this place for one thing, its running group buying promotions but changing their fine print DURING the sale promotions, which make it super awkward when those who bought it before the fine print changes to try to redeem it. But I’m going to forget about the Groupon thing because these types of promotions are getting worse across the industry, not just this merchant specifically.

Slightly off the beaten path on a side street, this place is a hidden gem! As soon as we pulled up, we could smell the garlic! Cozy, not too big, but not cramped either. Perfect for a romantic dinner. Dino, the manager, was also our server. He was very friendly, funny and knowledgeable. Even though this was our first visit, by the time we left, we felt like old friends. We had a great experience. Now on to the food. My girlfriend and I split the grilled octopus appetizer. It was cooked perfectly, tender and moist without too much seasoning. Perfectly dressed over mixed greens. For dinner my girlfriend had the eggplant parm with a side of pasta. Just like grandma used to make! Tender, no bitterness, not too much cheese. Just right. I had the pasta special. Penne with chicken, sundried tomatoes and arugula in a light cream sauce. Absolutely delocious! Generous portions, we left with a doggy bag. We would definitely eat here again. The restaurant has a full bar. and outdoor seating, weather permitting.

Not sure why we are the first to review this, but it’s relatively new, only open for 7 months. It’s also been a tough winter and pushed the tourist season for Niagara Falls back into mid-May(when the boats open). That said, the ice still on the falls is pretty amazing. After looking at all the corporate offerings in town, we wanted something different. We picked it out, but was confirmed by a couple of locals as a good choice. We knew from the smell entering the room it would be a good night — confirmed by one glance at the menu. Ambiance is simple, classic Italian. Candles on tables. It is also brand new and very clean. We went on a Tuesday night, obviously in off season. No wait, window table for 4(2 adults, 2 kids) at 7PM(no reservations). We were one of 4 tables going at the time. One server. Complimentary bread with chickpea and dried tomato spread was a nice way to start. Apps of fried calamari was good, grilled marinated octopus was very good. Youngest had spaghetti and meatballs(good), older boy had chicken parm(very good). Wife ordered an appetizer up-sized to a meal and loved it. I had the baccala. Haven’t had it in over 20 years and it was a nice treat. Very good. Service was spot on. Plates came out on a timely basis. Good portions. Prices very reasonable. Incredibly reasonable when considering what other places charge. Saw in a review elsewhere they didn’t take Amex, which is not true now. If we lived in the area we would be regulars. Skip the chains and try this place. You won’t be disappointed. PS. I forgot we also got the caprese. A nice treat with good tomatoes.
