Service was so slow, we waited an hour and a half before our entrees came. Although the waiter was very apologetic and gave us our appetizer and drinks for free, there is no excuse for such poor service. The mahi mahi was so spicy, it was not enjoyable. Although it was a beautiful setting, it was a huge disappointment. For an expensive restaurant, the only good dish was the salads.

Went there for a light lunch where my wife had a salad, I had the couscous stuffed tomatoes and we shared their«hand-cut truffle fries». My wife’s salad was good, the tomatoes were good but not that interesting. The disappointment was the fries. I’ve had amazing Parmesan truffle fries, and this was not them. The barest hint of truffle oil, a few flakes of cheese and what tasted like McCain’s Superfries — nothing like what it could have been. An overall disappointment with the food. Service matched our food experience with a waitress that frequently passed our table as we tried to get her attention from two feet away. Life’s too short for such a mediocre experience — won’t be going back.

Had dinner at this place and it was AMAZING. The menu is small, but once you get your food you realize why. Each dish is prepared perfectly and plated to impress. I got the pesto panko chicken which was fabulous and a side of wild mushrooms. My friend got the swordfish and it was a beautiful flaky filet. We finished everything off with a blueberry lemon tart. I highly recommend this restaurant!!!

We stopped by Zee’s while vacationing in Niagara-on-the-Lake for the holiday weekend. Service: we waited half an hour for our table(even though we had a reservation) and waited an additional hour to be served once ordering. A top-up of bread/water/wine would have made the wait more enjoyable. The waiter seemed mildly disinterested in our table throughout our stay. I will say that the gentlemen who greeted us at the front of the restaurant was very polite and cordial. Food: The food was OK — we ordered the vegetable risotto and the crispy salmon platter. While both dishes were good, the flavours seemed to be lacking and out of proportion. Presentation was good but the salmon dish was served in a bowl and sat in a broth making the dish a bit wilted — I would suggest serving on a plate instead. Setting: the décor seemed confused and mis-matched; a mix of traditional restaurant garb, tribal art and everything in between. The décor lent itself to a rushed visit rather than a relaxed and welcoming environment. Is there potential? Yes. Would I return? Not in the immediate future.

Joe, our server, created a wonderful dining experience from the moment we were seated adjacent to the fireplace. The total experience was first class… the cocktails, the appetizers, the entrees, the ambiance and the serve. When you are in Niagara on the Lake you must try Zee Grill

Went here for an anniversary dinner and had such a great time. The food was absolutely delicious. We had the veal and the duck and although both were good, the duck was the clear winner. It came served two ways with a confit leg and then medium breast. Both had great flavour and were cooked perfectly. Finished off with the chai crème brûlée and the pumpkin mousse. We will definitely be going back when we can.

Zee’s Grill is a great option if you’re looking for someone to pack a picnic lunch for a large group! We ordered enough lunches for 25 people during a recent trip to NOTL and Zee’s pulled it off! The price per lunch was a little extravagant, at $ 21/lunch but you could add an «upgrade» i.e. gourmet garden salad, for only $ 3 and they did have gluten options(although the failed to MARK these on the lunches, which led to a long search pre-eating!) Also, a 15% service charge was also added to the bill. The picnic lunch per person included the following: a sandwich(either smoked salmon or roasted chicken). Personally, I wasn’t a fan of either sandwich, the roasted chicken literally had a huge breast of chicken that lacked spice and overwhelmed the whole item. The smoked salmon was the better option, although still lacking full flavor. Each lunch also included either a potato salad, garden salad(skip this option!) or chickpea salad. These were great, although the potato salad could’ve used some additional salt, I loved the German style(large potato chucks, dill, celery with butter and sour cream. The chickpea salad was also delicious with scallions, red onion, diced red pepper in a oil base. Each meal also included a juice(apple or orange) and a whole piece of fruit(also coincidentally an apple or an orange). Finally, each meal was served with a «Shaw Club Hotel» brownie. FYI: Zee’s Grill is part of the Shaw Club Hotel, so possibly these are brownies that they also offer their guests? Regardless, it was the highlight of the meal. OMG, I want one in my mouth right now! And I’m much more a salty person then a sweets lover. Overall, the food hit the spot for our large party, but didn’t wow me for the price tag attached.

Breakfast was fabulous. I had the banana bread French toast one day and the other day the eggs Benedict Canadian style. The French bread was very sweet but perfect with a cup of coffee. Their potato galette was awesome. We got a package that included breakfast from the Shaw Hotel — worth it!

We stopped here after a day of wine tours and ordered the Cajun Chicken and the Beef Tenderloin. For drinks we had the Godfather and Love Potion #9. I’d say this place was deserving of the four stars. Everything was GOOD, but nothing to write home about. The chicken was super juicy, but had no flavor. The beef was delicious, but the potatoes with it were not seasoned well. The drinks were just ok. For the price the portion sizes were great but I expected better flavors for everything. The waitstaff and hostess were very friendly. Their placemats were this weird mix of a bunch of sticks together. They were literally there for«ambiance» and then taken away as soon as the food came. Seemed like a waste of time that someone braided a bunch of sticks together and didn’t use them to put a hot plate of food on; but then again, I’m not a restaurant interior decorator so what do I know?

Good dinner. Swordfish was cooked perfectly and flavourful served with a huge portion of purple potatoes. Dessert was Peanut butter chocolate mousse and espresso crème brûlée. Both very flavourful and good desserts although neither description seemed right. The mousse was more fudge like and the crème brûlée was almost liquid.

Stopped here after kayaking on the lake and had a great lunch. Lobster pouting was absolutely fantastic. First time my husband and son tried any type of pouting and they loved it and finished half of mine.

Needing a quick bite to eat before a matinée performance at the shaw I stopped by zee’s(which is right across the street). Asked if they could get me out in half an hour. They said, «yes,» and proceeded to provide the most excellent and efficient service. The chicken club sandwich was delicious, as was the apple, parsnip soup, and the glass of creekside Chardonnay. Managed to be out in 25 minutes and in a good mood for the theater. Can’t give more than four stars because I only chose one item on the menu, but it was definitely a five star performance.

Four of us went for a tour of the NOTL area and decided on the advice of locals to try this place out. It is located in the heart of town right across from the Princess of Wales theatre. We were greeted by a pleasant young man who promptly seated us on the veranda of this lovely property. We were met with a waiter who was ok but not overly hospitable. We ordered the organic green salad which was very tasty. It contained goat cheese, sunflower seeds, dried cranberries and a light dressing. Very tasty. For the main course we tried the salmon, Swordfish and chicken entrees. All were quite tasty with marrying of flavors done quite well. I did find the chicken a touch cool but was tolerable. Unfortunately one of our dining guests had a disappointment with her martini. Instead of fixing it the waiter put up a bit of a stink trying to suggest she was wrong. He should have graciously rectified the matter. That left a bad taste in her mouth, no pun intended. A nice enough place but don’t think we’ll return anytime soon.

Great food but some issues with service. We were given a martini that had the wrong vodka to what we ordered. They took it back and gave us what we wanted. One of the meals was a little cool. Salads were excellent.

Shared a half litre Riesling, organic greens salad, cheese plate and lobster poutine with the wifey for lunch. The poutine is amazing. Good service and a great patio too.

After a day exploring wineries at the Niagara Ice Wine Festival… and an afternoon relaxing at our Bed & Breakfast… we built up quite an appetite. We had made a reservation at this place on «Open Table» after researching places to eat at N.O.T… easy peasy. We were warmly greeted… and quite pleased at the lovely minimalistic décor of the dining space. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. And, when we told him we wanted our evening to proceed slowly, he was happy to accommodate our wishes. We started with a bottle of 2013 Pondview Gewürztraminer/Riesling from the«Interesting Whites» section of the wine list. It was perfectly balanced and went well with the«Locally Sourced Artisanal Cheese Plate»(three hand-crafted cheeses, infused honey, candied pecans, cedar jelly, house-made chutney & mustard, and toasted baguette) that we ordered as a starter. Then it was onto one of the appetizers from the Specials Menu… sea scallops wrapped in house-made duck prosciutto. The scallops were perfectly cooked and seasoned. For entrees I chose the«Pan Seared Atlantic Salmon Filet»(with celeriac purée, roasted cauliflower & sautéed greens, black mustard caviar, and shaved apple & celery salad). My boyfriend had the«Nova Scotia Lobster Poutine»(house-cut fries, butter poached lobster knuckle & claw, white cheddar cheese curds, red wine veal jus reduction, and lemon herb hollandaise sauce). We happily tasted and tasted from each of the plates trying to determine whose dish was the«winner»… until we realized that it was a glorious tie! Deserts are made in house, but sadly we didn’t have room to try one. Next time for sure… because we’ll definitely be back.

Went there with my family and we find this restaurant a little over rated. Ordered the lobster pouting(barely any lobster) and I was pretty disappointed with the sauce. Steak and Frites(blue cheese wasn’t that great) but I liked the fries xD Actually every agreed that the fries was pretty much the only thing that tasted decent. Chicken Club sandwich(the bread was too hard) but the chicken was juicy. Wished I tried their desserts tho…

The patio/porch area is very quaint and picturesque. The service was alright… our waiter was kind of different? I couldn’t quite put my finger on it but he wasn’t the most attentive waiter. Luckily we started off with he lobster poutine… and boy was it a hit. Awkward waiter who? this poutine was TOO good. I ordered the pan seared Atlantic salmon and my boyfriend ordered the grilled white pacific shrimp & seared scallop pasta. The salmon was done nicely but it came with a ratatouille that I wasn’t really crazy about. i’m not a huge cream sauce fan… but the sauce in the pasta dish was very very tasty. I would definitely come back If I was in the area and just order a lobster poutine and salad ;P

Stopped by before seeing something at Shaw Fest. I had read some iffy reviews so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but ended up being pleasantly surprised. The salads were hearty and sufficient as mains, while the chicken club wasn’t as good as it had sounded. The chicken was a bit over-grilled though the brioche bun was quite delicious! The salmon was nicely done, though nothing too memorable about it. The dessert was the real deal breaker. I have never had cheesecake served beside basil sauce and almond crumble, but it was incredible! The basil balanced out the creaminess of the cake and made for a refreshing dessert. The rice pudding was coconut lime flavoured, without too much sugar, and the caramelized banana provided just the right amount of sweetness. Although pricey, the desserts were easily the best part of the meal and I would highly recommend trying the cheesecake. They offered us a patio seat initially, as it was a great day, but there were a few houseflies so we asked for an indoor seat and ended up being the only table indoors, which was a lovely experience. The interior is beautifully decorated and brightly lit, as is the adjoining hotel.
