If a flair for the dramatic is what you want, a flair for the dramatic is what you get… Prior to trips involving sunny destinations, I’ll get my hair did and have a few hairy areas«cleaned-up», as I think people look silly with a fresh tan line from getting their hair cut AFTER the trip. Having never dealt with a salon or out of home manscaping before, I was a little nervous making an appointment but everyone was very accommodating. As soon as I showed, I was offered coffee, tea, espresso. Being a guy, the most I’d previously expected was a good view of the television in the corner playing whatever La Liga game. After a few«What, no grappa?!» jokes from other patrons, I’m off for step one of my transformation to Grecian God. First up: manscaping. I was helped by a lovely young lady that warned me of the impending pain. The most painful part of the process was sucking my gut in for that long. I’m kidding; the waxing hurt like hell and I found a few globs of wax stuck to me when I got home that had to be re-removed. The process was alright though, as the young lady made sure we talked through my tears so the process didn’t seem so long. Next: the coiffing. I like the fact that salons will ask quite a few questions as to what you expect from your hair being cut. After a few cursory queries, my little Colombian friend is amusing me with his descriptive stories of soccer, his new love of golf and the women in the salon being hot(they are, by the way). A few different techniques I’d never seen before with a razor and we’re done. I wasn’t completely happy with the style I left with: resembled Beckham, circa late 90’s. BUT the cut was great. Haircuts start at $ 25 and hair removal varies by the body part(s).
