Great addition to Oshawa’s downtown core. The store is flashy, welcoming, exciting and comfortable. The menu is limitless, tons of great options with witty titles. The service was somewhat slower and relaxed but what they serve is quite impressive. My biggest issue was the quality of the ice cream. It was quite heavy and creamy. I’m no ice cream connoisseur but I could tell something was off. As the servings are quite generous, my mom did not finish her cup of ice cream and left it on the kitchen counter. Hours later, the ice cream had barely melted. This just doesn’t seem right. It’s actually quite unappetizing. For being a strictly soft-serve establishment there should be a bigger focus on the quality of ice cream rather than the flare of toppings.

This place is ridiculous. Bring a friend and share something. I split a Shwa Shake Redemption mutant shake with my husband and it tasted like delicious regret. The shake had huge chunks in it so they basically give you a paper towel roll as a straw. The first time we came here, we each got our own dessert. Lesson learned. Even after splitting something, you’ll feel like you’ve left with a diabetes diagnosis. If you even only sort of like ice cream, you need to make a stop here.

I really did not enjoy this ice cream. It was not busy in the store so we got the full attention of the two girls working there. They were friendly and helpful. They seemed very good at applying the toppings to the cones, impressive as they are working against gravity and common sense. My BF ordered a Coconut Cream Pie Cone with white ice cream and I got a Red Velvet Cone. The cone was a typical size but the swirled soft serve was huge so if quantity is all you care about then this is your place. However, if you want taste and quality, maybe pass and go somewhere with Kawartha instead… It would likely be popular with kids… as it is messy and there are lots of candy choices, but I have to say that once the toppings are gone you are left with the soft serve ice cream and it has no taste at all. It is smooth, but could be an edible oil product, not sure… but has no real cream flavor. Definitely not worth the calories. In fact, I threw out the remainder of my cone, which had probably most of the ice cream still on it. I didn’t even want my dogs to eat it. Place is neat, location not bad if on foot.

Stumbled upon this place and could not resist going in based on what we saw people eating through the window! We didn’t have any issues with the service but that might have been because it wasn’t very busy. I had vanilla icecream with snickers, my husband had twist Icecream dipped in dark chocolate. I love how smooth and creamy their soft serve is! One tip is to choose toppings that taste good frozen — eg. can’t go wrong with Oreo cookie. The snickers was a bit tough to chew frozen but still delicious.

This place opened with a whole lot of hype, from a very successful food truck, and their brilliant plan to get press by offering a $ 77 milkshake(they of course likely never sold one, but it caught media attention, and that’s brilliant). The storefront is great and a nice addition to Downtown Oshawa. The menu is massive and almost overwhelming, lots of different options. The service is friendly, but so so so slow. I don’t know if it’s that they haven’t quite got a service rhythm sorted out, or their workspace is not totally efficient in its set up(the staff trip over each other it seems like at times), but they’re still figuring it out. I’d rather go local than a chain, even for a small premium, and their shakes are pretty great, so yeah. I struggeled with four or five stars — I’ll bump it to five if they can get to being a bit quicker getting stuff out — when you get a rush in there it looks like they can only make one item at a time, and that just doesn’t work.

Five stars because Hollywood Cone is as good as it gets when it comes to ice cream! The creamy texture is perfect and the variety of toppings from classic sprinkles, through gummy bears, strawberry cheesecake to Belgian chocolate dip or salted caramel is immense and more than enough to satisfy any taste. The thing with Hollywood Cone is quality. There may be slightly cheaper products out there, but none taste as good as you get from HC. Price wise nowhere is better than you get from here.
