$ 5.01 for drinks and apps-why not? The atmosphere, that’s why. For someone who doesn’t frequent the area, it really was not my cup of tea(or pint of beer?). While I appreciate the relatively cheaper option of ordering a drink and an app, the quality could be significantly better. Add to that the very crowded area and sparse service, I wouldn’t put this at the top of my list to visit.

Ok really? How hard do you have to work to fuck up 4 different checks??? Backstory: Decided to go here for cheap drinks. That’s it because we work our asses off and sometimes we just want to sit back and start drinking heavily. 1st star is because the servers are friendly. 2nd star because their fish and chips are pretty good. You lose the rest of your stars because when you have one person order 4 drinks and says«Put is on my tab» and then you proceed to put the damn drinks on the tabs of the people the drinks were ordered for? Not once but 3 different times. We may drink a lot but we pay attention to our drink count because we’re not idiots. Then tack on another 20 minutes for them to unfuck the tickets. Yeah avoiding this place when I’m in a group bigger than just myself.

Everything here is 5.01 $ including food and drinks. The food is limited to typical bar food like wings, fries, burgers, etc. My friend and I ordered Rolling Rock to drink and it was flat. Had to request for another drink which took awhile. The service is slow and I mean slow. The servers are running around unable to handle the amount of customers. The server was busy chatting with a table of guys instead of assisting other customers. Ordered the poutine and honestly it was the worst I’ve had ever and I’ve had my fair share of poutines. The fries were not fresh much less hot, gravy was average and the cheese curds looked like it was left out for awhile and not refrigerated properly. It was disappointing for a measly 5.01 $. Never will be back here, not even for a «cheap» drink. She even charged us for the Rolling Rocks and we had to wait to get the bill corrected. Not worth my time to come back here. If I could it’s a mere 0.5 stars. Typical bar with no appeal aside from the price and patio. Oh and free wi-fi.

Eff Pub 101 and their cover charge for NOTHING Friday and Saturday night. I will NEVER go here for any reason and no one else should either. They deserve to go out of business for such a racquet. I will tell any and everyone not to go here. Doesn’t the owner figure he makes enough on his high priced and mediocre food. I refuse to patronize anywhere that nickel and dimes me to death and they DONOT deserve any success at at for gouging their customers in the manner in which they do. There is no excuse whatsoever to do this this place is no good don’t ever go here for anything.

My husband and I went to Pub 101 for our vacation in Ottawa. We went there twice on our whole trip Their fish n chips were amazing. Yes there were intoxicated people there, but that is in every pub. The servers were friendly and the service is outstanding. I recommend anyone traveling to Ottawa to give it a try.

They really shouldn’t have the right to call this place a pub. The food is always disappointing and tastes like it’s from a supermarket box, the staff is slow and unprofessional and the place is never clean. And for this complete lack of quality they charge top dollar as if they are a fine establishment.

After avoiding Pub 101 for some time, I heard they updated their menu recently, which included some type of bacon ice cream. I wasn’t sure exactly what this was, and to be quite honest, I wasn’t really listening to the rest of what was said. all I heard was«bacon», and that was enough for me to try it out. While I sat down and waited for my friend to meet me, I noticed the pub was dimly lit and filled with middle-aged men who were already intoxicated. On an average day, this wouldn’t really bother me, but there was something about being a young woman in that kind of atmosphere by myself that this is slightly uncomfortable. Not sure if this is always the case, but I would suspect some people might not be too interested in a dining setting like this. Keep in mind, though, it is a casual bar, afterall. I was hungry for a bit more than ice cream after work on a weekday, so before ordering dessert, I immediately spotted foot long hot dogs on the menu and found the Mac and Cheese Dog most interesting. It had sharp cheddar, gruyère, truffle oil, and crushed chips, served with hand-cut fries. Not quite sure why they decided to throw crushed chips on there, but the dish already seemed pretty ridiculous, so why not. Not much special about the hot dog — it reminded me of the ones you can get at Wonderland, firm and naturally salty. The mac and cheese on top of the hot dog wouldn’t be as flavorful without the truffle oil, which sort of took over my tastebuds in a not entirely pleasant way. I should mention that while I do enjoy truffle oil, there is a time and place, and quantity, to use it, and this was just not it. The chips on top were a complete write off — these should just be removed, as they serve no purpose in terms of taste, and make the hot dog even saltier than it already is. I ended up removing the hot dog from the bun, which was incredibly stale, and ate as much of the mac and cheese as I could(I hate wasting food!). I finished the hot dog itself, but really did not care for the flavor of the cheesy pasta and chip mix. I originally thought the fries on the side would just get pushed away because I was so full, but I actually found them to be a lot taster and easier to eat with some salt and vinegar, rather than keep trying to shove the pasta down. I was the most excited for the bacon and dessert combination — vanilla bean ice cream with candied bacon. The ice cream looked like it was already starting to melt, but that was OK, since the portion seemed larger than your regular scoop of ice cream. I could see the little black specks of vanilla bean in the ice cream, and it wasn’t too sweet. The candied bacon was still a bit crispy and also not too sweet. I was, however, incredibly disappointed when I found out that there was supposed to be some type of alcohol-based sauce on top, which, of course, they ran out of while I was there. I’ll have to come back to try it with the sauce, but it was still delicious without it. Generally, I had a more pleasant experience with the food and service than years ago, but still nothing to write home about.

This place has a strange allure for some reason. I’ve never had a spectacular time here, but never left in total disgust either. It is more of a locals type place to meet friends than it is a pub to go in and meet new people. While I didn’t order food, others did and it looked tasty. After eating, nobody seemed to require any immediate medical attention. It is typical Irish bar type ambiance. Sit at the bar, order a beer, watch the sports on TV, rinse, and repeat. One visit, though, was memorable in that there were some older(late 60’s) guys sitting at the bar talking politics. One was highly passionate about his points, at several points I was pondering if 911 was a concept that ported across the border! Still, it was great fun and left me wishing that I knew much more about Canadian Politics. Yea, I’d go back and spend an hour or so.

THISPLACENEEDSBARRESCUE Walking in and a stand up heater for the patio had fallen and(pick it up maybe??) was given filthy menus(tip to the owner paper menus do not work in a bar with wet table tops/bars greasy food and finger. DA!!!) the washrooms smell like urine ordered honey garlic wings but got spicy would of sent back but waitress never came back to table) ordered a beer which i thought would be a pint(20 oz) but got a 16 oz pour first pub I’ve been to in 20 years that didn’t serve a pint went to pay although they have a cordless credit card unit they do not take debit they have a private ABM that charges $ 3.25 for a transaction. If the owner want to fudge his numbers for revenue Canada at least do not over charge to get cash. This place is a joke I know its a university bar but come on RIPOFF PS i would be careful about the positive reviews seems the owner/manager monitors because my first review was deleted

I‘m not sure why my friend recommended Pub 101. I can‘t think of a more generic pub in the entire city. Came here this evening to watch a Sens game with a few friends. Pubs are a dime a dozen in Ottawa and they‘re basically all the same, except I‘d say this one is slightly crappier. The menu is typical pub food, only its definitely smaller than most pubs I‘ve been to. I was hungry so I got mac and cheese, a friend of mine got chicken poutine. I ordered an after eight cocktail and my friends ordered Rickards Red. They have a half decent selection of beers on tap, but the variety of specialty cocktails was pretty small. My mac and cheese wasn‘t great. It was definitely plain, although they put potato chips on top which was nice. My friend‘s poutine was okay, I had a bite of it. Both of our entrees were $ 9.99 which is overpriced for what we received. The waitress was alright, she seemed friendly enough, nothing too spectacular though. Besides the mediocre food, this pub loses points by the fact that the entire pub smelled like garbage and the bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. It also loses points because it doesn‘t accept debit, which is irritating enough, but for unsuspecting clients like myself the ATM costs $ 3.25 to use! My friend didn‘t tip because of it, and I don‘t really blame him… You‘re paying the bill + 3.25 for the atm, PLUS a tip. My $ 25 bill became a $ 33.00 bill with the tip. I can not see myself ever going back to this boring pub. There are far too many pubs in this city to waste your money on a crappy one.

Lousy service. I was here a few weeks ago, just to have a few drinks with a friend. The waitress who served us was snappy, rude, and slow. When we had waited forever between drinks and I waved to get her attention, she snapped, «Yeah, it’s coming!» After a few rounds of this we decided to leave, and had to wait 30 minutes to get the bill(this after we had to flag her down again and ask her specifically for it, as we’d figured out at this point she was not paying attention to who was clearly finished and who wasn’t). When she came by, she slammed the wrong bill on our table and walked away. When we tried to get her attention to address the problem, she told us in no uncertain terms that it was not HER problem and that we needed to take it up with the bartender! I will not come here again. Also, everything in this bar was extremely dirty, not that I expect a pub to be squeaky clean, but come on. Make an effort.

Went here for drinks on a Saturday. Waitress didn’t seem like she wanted us to be there, kind of like we were an inconvenience to her. All we ordered was a few beers and a coke and vodka. Not particularly impressed with the place. I only stayed on the main floor though, maybe the next two floors have something a bit more interesting. Prices were standard for the drinks. Update: I’ve since been here again and visited the upper floors. They are pretty much all the same. One thing that seems quite odd is that the washrooms are located in the BASEMENT. Trying to navigate down 3 flights of stairs in the dark with highheels on(and after having a few drinks) was a bad idea haha.

I frequented Pub 101 during my University days. Was it because of the excellent food? No. Did I find the venue to be unique and full of culture? Not so much. I went because it is a great place to bring a lot of people for cheap beer. Pub 101 is huge, and while it is not particularly clean I like how there is something for almost every member of a crowd. The first floor has tables, a bar and usually features a hockey game or a UFC match. The second floor often has a local musician playing cover songs, but is quiet enough for conversation. There is no bar on this floor but there are servers who are usually pretty on the ball. The third floor has a DJ and lights. While I rarely like the music that the DJ plays, it is always nice to have the option of moving to a dance floor if you should be so inclined. Pub 101 also has a great patio in the summer. It is not usually my first place to go for a beer, but we more often than not end up at Pub 101 on a night off because there is rarely a lineup and the cover, as well as the drinks are cheap.

I visited this place for a wings special. It was PACKED and VERY noisy. Great for beer and sports and lots of commotion if you’re into that sort of thing, but I was just hunting for cheap wings. It was decent, but on the busy night I visited, I couldn’t hear myself think. I don’t necessarily want to fault the establishment for that, though. The main complaints I have were that they seemed understaffed for the capacity and my wings were NOT very good. Service was incredibly slow. Groups are in and out, shifting around the room and between the upstairs and downstairs levels. It’s like a drunken playground, but hey — some people like that sorta thing. I don’t think I’d ever visit again unless I absolutely had to for some reason. And obviously, parking in the city is a nightmare. But otherwise, great spot for a party and some action if you’re searching for an entertaining night.

Pub 101 has it’s days. There’s a wing night, there’s sports nights, and in my case, there is Saturday night. Three floors of fun! But the experience is still overpriced for Ottawa standards. No big deal though, I’m paying for the dancing upstairs not the patio, main bar area or empty bar floating in between. If you haven’t gotten your cardio for the week, just run up and down the stairs. They played good music for dancing, switching it up a lot between old school jamz and remixed top 40. The dance floor is small and the crowd on it changes by the minute. Top floor bar can get a little slammed but I got a Vodka Sour fast enough. An annoying aspect is that on a busy night, you have to wait to get on the patio. Standing in line, hoping that someone wants to leave the outdoors on a beautiful, strangely warm, October night so that you can take their spot. Not promising and no fun! But alas, a solid night at Pub 101!

Pub 101 was one of our football sports bars in the market. That’s pretty sad for the market if this was one of our first options to catch games at since it’s not really a sports bar. We come here for the ok priced beer with a large group of friends. I’d bypass the food. I’ve eaten at some sketchy places over the years but had to put the food down on a sharing platter down because I found the food way to greasy. My friends had the same opinion. Stick to coming by for a drink and watching a game or come support the bands!!! If you’re here for the food… god help you.

Perhaps I’m just comparing this place to the old Minglewoods which used to occupy this corner building but I find Pub 101 is rather bland and doesn’t have all that much character. Then again, how much character did the old Minglewoods have? The main floor of Pub 101 is tight and cozy — as are the other levels but the main floor is probably the best since you have access to the patio or outside and you have a bar that’s not in the way. The second floor is more of a party and by the time you hit the top floor it can turn into a gong show up there on weekends. The last time I was there the top floor was poorly ventilated and I remember it was rather unpleasant up there by the end of the night. The bar is in the middle of the floor and takes up way too much space. The worst thing about this place was that you may escape the lineup outside but that doesn’t mean you’re done with lines… inside you’re held in another line to get to the next level and so on. It’s a pain. 101 does have its location and relatively cheap drinks going for it. It’s right in the Market on a busy street with other bars so you can bar hop. I’ve never tried the food here but from what I’ve seen it looks like standard pub options.

My friends and I stopped here because it was the only place that had the NFL network which was showing the Raiders/Chiefs game. The food was just okay. We didn’t go for food, just the game, but we had something to nibble on to hold us over for dinner. The mac and cheese was really good.

Pub 101, which used to be Minglewoods until it moved, is a bar in the market. It isn’t the worst, it certainly isn’t the best, but it is a bar. So if you’re looking to get hammered and don’t really care about your surroundings, then by all means stop on by. The inside is nice, but it certainly needs a bit of a pick me up. I don’t think the interior has really changed since Minglewoods was there and that was at least two years ago. the bottom floor has tables, and a nice bar. I can see it being a good place to throw back a few drinks with your buddies. the bar suffers from being three floors. this makes it a big bar, but a pain. If you’re ever trying to find someone at Pub 101 and it is busy, good luck. The second floor is more of a lounge area, and the top floor has a dance floor and a small bar. What it does have going for it are drink deals. Tall boys, certain shots etc. It depends on the day, but you can find some good deals if you do some sleuthing.
