So-so service but good beer, lots of options of tap. Haven’t tried their food as of yet.

Nothing special. My wife and I went here for dinner before going to see some local theatre across the road. Photos on the menu weren’t very appealing, so we stuck to «safe items»(e.g., club sandwich and fish & chips). Food was just okay. Service was fast but, then again, the place was dead quiet(at 6pm).

I’ve been to the Fox and Feather a few times now. In my opinion, it’s a generic run-of-the-mill pub. I do not really see anything that sets it apart from other pubs. Food is acceptable. It’s more like 2.5 stars(but Unilocal doesn’t allow half stars). They have drink specials everyday, which are good. However, I do not feel that their food specials are as great as other pubs. They have ½ price appetizers(wings, chicken fingers, zucchini sticks, and veggie nachos only) between 4pm-5:30pm and 10pm-midnight. So no all day food specials like other places. On my most recent visit, I had the Spring Hill Salad($ 14.95) which was a mixed greens salad with grilled chicken breast, shredded cheese, tomatoes, carrots, green peppers, and pickled turnips, all served in a deep fried tortilla bowl. I asked for the dressing on the side and it arrived as requested. The dressing is a creamy ranch-like dressing. The salad was fresh. I found it weird that the carrots were cut like carrot sticks — really thick and long, so I basically picked them out of the salad, dipped them into the dressing and ate them like carrot sticks. Same went for the pickled turnips. The green pepper was 1 big ring on top of the salad. Anyway, it was pretty to look at, and it tasted like the sum of its parts. My husband had the Bacon Cheeseburger($ 13.95) and he paid an extra $ 2.50 to get sweet potatoes as his side, instead of just regular fries. I had 1 sweet potato fry and it was ok, but not yummy enough for me to want a second one. They were thick cut, un-battered and not too crispy. My husband thought that his meal was ok. Others at the table had appetizers only. No one said anything about their food other than when it was time for the bill, one of the people who ordered the beef nachos was surprised that it was around $ 20. Looking at the menu online: it’s $ 13.95 for veggie nachos. If you want chicken or beef it’s an extra $ 4.95, and if you want guacamole it’s an extra $ 2. Service was good, no complaints there. Every single time I’ve come to the Fox and Feather it’s been with a group and someone else picked the venue. I think that sums up my opinion of this place. It wouldn’t be a place I would choose, but I won’t refuse to go there.

Came with a friend for an event for about 50 people. Slow service, one bar tender, sat us near the kitchen so we couldn’t hear the presentation. Small amounts of food for such a large crowd. About for group functions. Tvs all around, music blaring when presenters were speaking.

Great food to price ratio! I’ve been here a number of times(most recently yesterday afternoon). I got my usual burger combo. The burger was okay. I did find the burger not as fresh or juicy. It wasn’t bad or horrible tasting, just take I’ve had better burgers from other restaurants. But the best part was that they offered a salad and fries in the combo!!! And the price was something like $ 13.99. Pretty good deal! And the fries were delicious. Great service and polite staff.

I wish I could give zero stars I wanted to get a steak. They advertise their steak and potato special for 17 $. I was greeted by a gentleman at the door and have been assured that this weak should be at least 30 $. I believed and walked in. First, I have been asked if I wanted an A.C. Space and I said yes. He showed me the table in the middle of the room. It was smoking hot. I placed an order and after upgrading regular potato and asked for mushrooms, I bumped my special to 25 $. Green salad is very imbalanced. Waiting for a steak. What a disappointment, tough as my army boot some, potato is hard, overcooked. Since meat is a very special occasion for me, this was the worst steak I ate in my Life. Kinda ruined experience all together. I left most of the meal on the plate and paid 40 $. Just stop for a drink.

Went with a group of coworkers on a sunny day. Our meal was great and the patio made it better. Portions were nice and they had a little more diversity than your average pub menu. No free refills drops it down to four stars.

This place is really good! We went for brunch on a Sunday morning during Winterlude. Lighting is very good because of large windows. Food portions are very big and also well prepared. Bottomless coffee on a Sunday morning is always nice. Potatoes were cooked well and not out of a bag. I think this is a benchmark for good brunch places because so many places do a bad job cooking breakfast potatoes. Our waitress was very friendly and all food came out in a timely manner. She was very attentive and remembered exactly what each person in our party ordered. The restaurant was very clean for the winter, when lots of people means lots of dirty floors.

I’m not sure if Fox and Feather has been reading these reviews, or if I just randomly was there on a great day, but I had a nice experience there for lunch the other day. Firstly, our server(who I think was named Tory), was positively lovely. She was kind and friendly but not over bearing, and made us feel really welcome. We were there around 1 for lunch and she seemed to be the only server working. She did a great job managing the 3 or 4 tables. The food, while not anything spectacular, was comforting and tasty. I ordered the cranberry wrap which has really tasty grilled chicken(it tasted like summer barbecue… yum!), cranberry mayo, lettuce and some other wrap basics. It was grilled, and I really enjoyed it. The dish came with salad and fries, which I like, since you isn’t have a massive pile of fried you can’t finish. The salad wasn’t washed perfectly, but the dressing was fantastic. I also ordered the California soup which was one of the specials, and it was warm and different. Avocado, mushroom, chicken and lemon made for a light, but enjoyable lunch. I agree the layout is a bit weird, but I would come back here mainly for the excellent service I received, and perhaps for some pub food.

Cons: poor drink selection, terrible layout, food isn’t all that good and the service is lacking. Had a bad experience trying to get a drink and it failed to provide a single area to like. Would not recommend unless have 0 other options on Elgin. Would be the ideal place for a last minute party on a busy night with over 7 people as no one will be here.

I was lucky enough to visit the F & F on Canada Day, entitling me to a limited selection of more expensive, rushed dishes. I assume the red and white Tostitos were left overs from Christmas but that could just be an exaggeration… Cinqo de Mayo is more likely. At an extra $ 5 for a meat topping and $ 2 for guacamole, the only thing layered about my $ 22 nacho frisbee was the price. The pub earned 1-star above base for having a great micro-brew on tap and a nice décor. As another reviewer mentioned, they’re getting by on location & branding. I tend to agree. Having a shortage of Irish pubs in my area, I’m disappointed in the culinary potential lost on the Fox & Feather’s indifference.

It was far too long since I’d been here last. The atmosphere here is great and the location is awesome, as others have mentioned. We managed to eek out the last possible table on the patio, which was great. There was a lot of confusion once we were seated; it took about 15 minutes to get drink menus. Once we got them everything else was good. The patio was great and they have a good selection of reasonably priced beers. In all, good experience.

I must say it pains me to write this review. I WANT this bar to be good — the patio is excellent and the location is ideal(for me at least) but I’m afraid it just doesn’t deliver. I’ve been here three times and among those visits my dinning experience was AVERAGEATBEST. It doesn’t surprise me that the reviews here are predominantly negative — the owners have no reason to invest in improving the food as they are already attracting big crowds just from their location/patio. Guess I’ll just stick to Sir John A across the street for now.

Personally, I love the Fox and Feather. It’s one of my fave pubs in the city — they make really good pizza. It has nooks and crannies to hang out in — a place to shoot pool, have a game of darts, or hang out on the rooftop patio. Maybe I love it so much because it was one of the first pubs I visited after moving here… and God knows I’m easily pleased as long as someone else is bringing me food and drinks, and I don’t have to do the dishes… but I love it here. :)

Recommended by the nearby Cartier Place Hotel staff for a late night beer and bar food. I skipped the food and had just a beer instead. The seasonal Oktoberfest billed at CN$ 7.50. A bit pricey, I thought. But the upstairs bar was friendly, if not a bit cramped. So overall I enjoyed myself. I’d go back for the atmosphere but I’d limit myself to just one beer like I did this time.

I went to the Fox and Feather on Canada for a drink and quick bite with friends before the fireworks. Unfortunately I wish we would have picked somewhere’s else. The sangria was ‘watered down’ with citrus juice and barely contained any wine. It was simply expensive juice. The food here is not great and if you can’t eat gluten, stay away. The only things that are gf are 2 salads which I have to say were really disappointing. Even the nachos are made with corn/wheat tortillas. The patio was ok, and the service… well I’ve seen better. We were casually having a drink and felt like our waitress was pushing up to hurry up and leave. To say the least, I won’t be back here and I wouldn’t recommend this place unless you are looking for a quick beer.

We stopped by on the way home from Winterlude — looking for something on the walk along Elgin. Stopped in here as it looked busy, often a good indicator. sticky table, busy, neighbourhood. Decent menu, wait staff. Salad fresh, decent, dressing in container Chicken fingers thin, overcooked — better to get less but higher quality. Fries mediocre, chintsy on sauce. Steak thin, but good, cooked perfectly. For price fine. We cook better at home

I’ll be honest. I have never been here. Ever. My reasoning for this review is for one sole reason. They FORBID their staff to celebrate Canada Day. It’s just outrageous as people come from across the nation to celebrate in Ottawa(BTW, HIGHLY recommended) for Canada Day. It’s one thing to have an opinion but to stop your employees from celebrating a great day in Canada is another. I may not know all the facts. But the sheer concept of it is deflating and unfathomable for a Canadian like myself.

The food is typical pub, but bad. We were served our food cold and our drinks were very… ummm…less tasteful than they should have been. The service is sporadic at best with apathy being a good attitude term. I also attended a function on the upper level, and while private-ish, was small and cramped. Again the upstairs staff was the same, slow. Food… same thing. And then their Canada Day policy became public. I was astounded to say the least. What owner or manager in their right mind refuses their staff to show their pride in Canada and wear red of any kind? What owner manager threatens firing if they did? No decoration, no nothing. It’s not just the stupid ridiculous policy… one wonders how«attached» to Canada and our city these people really are. Do I want to patronize this bar? Blacklisted. There’s too much competition downtown and I can be apathetic and vote with my feet.

This used to be my regular pub when it was a block from my house. The food is goes from mediocre to ok depending on kitchen turnover or so it feels. They have daily happy hour specials were appetizers are half price but sometimes the food isn’t that great. The plus side to this place is during major sporting events they will find you a spot to sit! The place is really large and has a lot of rooms. There’s been a lot of times when some of the other places on Elgin have been packed and we’ve called over for them to reserve a spot for us as we were walking over. There are a lot of tv’s around and even for major sporting events the staff are pretty solid considering the place is packed with people and they’re still able to get you food in beer in a reasonable manor which is something I can’t say for a lot of places in Ottawa. The last 3 world junior hockey events we were able to come last minute and be crammed into a tiny space when everywhere else on Elgin was packed. The staff treated us well and were able to get all our drink and food orders within the same period of ordering. It’s not the best spot for food but it’s a solid place to hangout and not feel like you’re being ignored all night by the staff.
