Cafeteria style! Pick what you want and leave what you don’t want. Very flavourful food, both hot and cold… Usually doesn’t happen in a vegan/vegetarian restaurant. Definitely one of the best vegan offerings I’ve had in Canada. Desserts are just okay. Definitely give it a try. It’s beyond worth it.

My favorite lunch spot in Ottawa. The food is always fresh and the casual atmosphere is perfect for an after meeting lunch. Or a lunch meeting.

Love this place. Was initially skeptical of veg spots and buffets so this pace was met with hostility. However this quickly melted away when I saw the selection, cleanliness and had my first taste of the delicious array of meat free options. The avocado and Red onion salad was whole other level. Their lasagna is one of the best I have had. Their kale salad is pure inspiration. Price is on point.

Thanks to Unilocal — I found this vegan outfit. Long distance driving sometimes don’t fit into one’s diet budget. After driving from DC to Ottawa– time to get some healthy food in my tummy. The place is packed-buffet style, you pay by the weight. The way it works is that is like a college canteen: pick up a plate and a tray, start choosing what you like. Reasonable pricing, very much so. Especially when convert into US dollar at the time of writing. A very large selection of dessert too. Though I did not have any this time. Great vegan/vegetarian spot.

It’s probably cliché to start with a «I’m not a vegetarian» comment, but I think this speaks to the quality of the food here! I was introduced to this place through a friend, having heard a lot about it. I finally dipped in for a quick lunch with her, and I was very impressed. The gist is that all the food is fresh and paid by weight. You can either set your plate up to eat in, or in a ready made takeout container. I find the variety of items truly impressive — they take vegetarian options and make them truly hearty. Plus, some of their recipes are spot on. Their version of Russian salad is very tasty and true to form. The location itself is quite large. I have never gone without seeing the place half full, lunch or dinner. A decent helping of a variety of items typically runs me between $ 12-$ 14. Definitely try this place out!

A bit on the pricey side and usually very crowded. Has a great selection of food, though I would like to see a bigger selection of drinks.

Best vegetarian restaurant ever. I’m a recruiter for a university so I travel across Canada every Fall. Every time I come to Ottawa I go there immediately. It’s buffet style which is great for someone who wants to try new things. One of my favourite restaurants in Canada.

This is my favorite vegetarian restaurant in town, thus far. So fresh and so much selection. I also had one of the best carrot cakes I’ve ever had here. Love it!

Decided to try this place out while on a road trip. The food was really yummy, only thing is it can get expensive. I got to try a lot of different dishes and I loved the majority of them.

Excellent quality and great tasting vegetarian food. They buy their ingredients locally and make it fresh every morning. Desserts are excellent and not your typical super sweet junk. I love that all the food is laid out and you can take as much or little as you like. I always take a bit of everything. They have a water station and glasses too. My go to place for sure. Parking is available for a low fee and a portion goes to charity. There is also street parking. Bicycle parking is also available in front of the restaurant. You can see your bike through the glass windows. Only downside is the construction on Main street but it’ll be worth the wait once they’re all done!

Buffet style. It can get pretty pricey if you’re not careful. The place is busy and the food is very good.

I have only been to the green door once, the food was very good if not a bit pricey(as they weigh your plate after you’ve decided what you wanted). The seating was very open which was nice and all the dessert displays were very eye catching. The food was yummy– although I found the food display when I went wasn’t as entirely serviced as it could have been. I bought a carrot cake and found it great if not a bit too spicy/dry. Good restaurant :)

I wouldn’t call this place the *best* vegetarian spot in Ottawa. It’s okayyy. They have a decent variety of hot and cold entrees, their soups are pretty good. But their desserts are pretty lousy. They don’t peel the apple skins in their pies, which makes for a really weird texture.

The best vegetarian restaurant ever! The food is simply amazing. I have been coming here for 24 years and have had literally thousands of meals. I have never been disappointed. We have celebrated so many birthdays and anniversaries at the Green Door that it feels like home. We have also spent time here after taking our medically challenged son to CHEO/General Hospital and have always found comfort in the food and great service after a stressful day of medical procedures. The new renovations are fantastic! So happy we can now find a table at noon. Thank You Green Door!

I go there too often. $ 20 per plate about unless you just take salad… I don’t get those people. Always full of flavour and regularly restocked buffet. The one surprisingly inexpensive thing here is the coffee. It’s better than most coffee shops. Refills are 75 cents. Since the renos there is more place to sit but it still fills up sometime. I’m not too sure about the clientele’s friendliness if you’re just one or two and need to share a table… These are downtown folk after all.

I’ve eaten at The Green Door twice on visits to Ottawa and I really like it. They have a large selection of salads, entrees, and desserts(both«rich» desserts and«healthy» desserts). I always find PLENTY to eat and leave very happily full. Compared to The Table(a similar restaurant), The Green Door is larger, with a bigger selection of food, but in part because it is larger and in part because of how it is lit/decorated, I feel more like I am at a cafeteria when I eat at The Green Door. But I sure enjoy eating here!

This place has a big buffet with a decent selection of vegetarian and gluten free options. They however really lacked in the gf dessert department. My friend and I tried their desserts and they were gross. Skip the desert is my suggestion. Everything else was ok, nothing really to write home about. Green door charges by weight so it can get pricey really quickly. Also this place is usually busy so come early or late to get a seat, or else get takeout.

Un incontournable à Ottawa. Tout le monde y trouve quelque chose qu’il aime dans leur formule buffet. Toujours très frais vu l’acchalandage.
