This place was AMAZING! one of the best dinners I have ever had(I had the Beef Striploin). This resto had a comfortable yet special ambience, creative food that featured very smart combinations, and the staff was very kind and humble.

Recently celebrated a friends birthday here and what can I say, absolutely amazing night delivered by their amazing staff. I pre-booked but we had some fluctuating numbers, I let them know ahead of time and they were super cool about it. A couple of days before our reservation I got a confirmation call from them and we confirmed but still had fluctuating numbers. We arrived and were greeted by one of the friendliest servers I’ve met in Ottawa. He was welcoming and most importantly really friendly… like one of those chain restaurants in the US where they have to sing and dance for you… but don’t worry there was no singing and dancing. They were just that damn friendly! They started us out with cocktails, which were really nice, everyone enjoyed theirs and there were a lot of good recommendations for the people who weren’t sure what they wanted. When it came time to put in our food order, we had some people with dietary restrictions and they went out of their way to ensure everyone was taken care of. Our server was constantly making sure that everyone was OK but not to the point it was overbearing! He made sure we were checked in on. The food was really good. We ordered a lot of everything, there was sharing and there were a lot of quiet moments of just enjoying what we had just ordered. All in all a great night, starting from the staff. I’d give the food a solid 4 – 4.5 stars and the staff there a 6!

Wonderful food and service! I took my four-year-old daughter there for her half-birthday and they treated her so nicely, even taking her for a tour of the kitchen(which was spotless, in case anyone is wondering). We had gone expecting salmon, my daughter’s favourite(they had changed their menu that day) and when they didn’t have it our server offered to call around to find a restaurant nearby that served plain grilled salmon(!). Instead, my daughter agreed to try arctic char(which she loved). Not only was the food was perfect, they didn’t mind at all when we shared our salad, dessert and main course. I don’t know anyone who hasn’t enjoyed their experience at this wonderful restaurant.

I had been meaning to visit Segue when it was open, but then it disappeared one day and I didn’t realize this until I walked by the Pomeroy House, which has replaced it. I went with two friends and we each had two cocktails. There were five cocktails on the menu, and we tried all of them. The cocktail menu isn’t online(that I can find, anyway), so I can’t confirm the name of any of the drinks we ordered, but my favourite drink was the one with some sort of rhubarb liquor and some other orange-flavoured thing(not very helpful, sorry). The cucumber/jalapeño cocktail was also really good, as well as the one with rose gin and dark rum. Great job, bartender! Between the three of us, we ordered crostini and pâté(rillettes), duck leg, venison, and both the Baked Alaska and banana cake for dessert. Everything was so amazing, especially the Baked Alaska what with its agonizingly good flourless brownie. I don’t remember the last time I had a dessert that was so rich and delicious. The goose leg was tender and cooked to perfection. The venison was full of flavor and it was complimented nicely with spicy mustard. To start with, each person gets two small slices of freshly made bread that comes with some sort of caramelized butter that’s soft, whipped and soooooooooo good. Everything on the menu is pricier than I’d like to pay – especially the wine – but I can’t knock a star off for that, because everything we ordered was genuinely delicious.
