This place is now called Tequila Jacks and it’s just OK at best. The music absolutely sucks in the main room although the country /folk music room is pretty cool and unique. I’d leave it as a safety measure… as the worst case scenario if you absolutely need to go somewhere that will be guaranteed to have a packed crowd by 12:30am. If you’re into packed crowds.

I’ve been here many times for events, celebrations, and random nights out. Every single time, the company has always made my night, never the club itself. The space is extremely small for a club, with what basically feels like one room crammed with a ton of people. This is because the dancefloor takes up most of the space, which is mostly occupied by 19−20-year-old girls. There is a kind of upper metal«stage» in front of the DJ for women only, with a bouncer at the bottom of the stairs to let you up. At first, this seems like a great idea, but beware if you’re wearing a dress or a skirt, as everyone can look right up at you. The music is dance/techno and Top 40, which some people love, but is really mainstream, so if you’re not too keen on listening to that kind music all night long, this is probably not the best place for you. The drinks are nothing special, but are cheap. Occasionally, they also have celebrity appearances for events. Personally, this place is not exactly my favourite club in Ottawa, but it’s really popular, so you can always give it a try and judge for yourself.

2nd club we came to in Ottawa. We came early because it was free before 11pm on guestlist! That wasn’t a good idea. it was really empty. The club was pretty big, with an upstairs area where people can watch from above.. There was an indoor/outdoor patio which was really big and aired out the club. The music was horrible, all dance music and the dj sucked at mixing! Alot of seatting… horrible liqour selction for drinks! Would not reccomend it.

Tila Tequila caters to the university crowd, and provides one of the larger dance floors in the Byward Market area for pop dance music. One of several clubs in the UMM entertainment group, there’s often special events going on here, with appearances by pop artists when they are in town. This isn’t a pub crowd, so dress up a bit. The women tend to wear dresses, while the guys can get away with more casual attire. Hats and sports jerseys are probably not a good idea, though. The staff are very attractive and friendly, and there’s a catwalk above the dance floor if you are a girl with an exhibitionist bent(remember to wear nice panties). Sorry guys, you have to stick to the dance floor. There are four bar areas, three surrounding the dance floor, and one near the entrance, so getting a drink isn’t usually a problem. There’s also often a shooter girl and a server walking around to take orders. The drinks are reasonably priced. The big nights are Friday and Saturday, with an Industry night on Thursday. Line-ups generally don’t start until 11:00, unless it is a special event. Remember your photo ID, since they are pretty diligent.
