STINKS! The moment u enter, a breeze of sweaty air will blast in your face. In the winter it freezes on the doors.

If you are a serious athlete, don’t go here, just don’t. Not enough machines to smoothly do supersets.

This is a pretty new very clean sports complex. The complex has a gym loaded with weights and machines. It also has 2 hockey rinks(one with stands) a soccer/football field which I consider one of the 2 nicest artificial turfs in Ottawa, physiotherists at the complex as well as a pub that overlooks one of the hockey rinks. The staff is friendly, the washrooms are clean and there are water fountains that have a tap to fill up your water bottles.

I spent the duration of my university career working out at the Sports Complex, as it was between home and most of my classes. The best thing for me about the complex was that it was open until 11pm! I really did have to work out at 10pm sometimes, so this was very favorable to me! Equipment is fairly new and there is lots of it. You can usually sign up for your cardio equipment on the way into the change room, in order to start as soon as you are done changing. I have heard that in the last year it has gotten a bit busier though, due to the rise in student numbers at OttawaU. The staff are all bilingual and helpful if you have any questions about the equipment. They also spend lots of time cleaning the equipment, so you know that what you are using has been cleaned. Spray bottles are scattered around the gym so that you can clean your own equipment before and after use as well. The skating rink is used for frequent free skating times, hockey practices and concerts periodically.

The University of Ottawa’s Sports Complex is great for many different fitness activities. They have a soccer and football field, skating arena, training facilities, and even a physiotherapy clinic. Other non-student members of the community can also use the resources of the complex for a fee. I came here for the Ottawa U Winter Challenge Concert. At the time, a friend of mine from high school was a member of one of the bands to open for Bedouin Soundclash. God Made Me Funky and Yelo Molo performed on stage before Bedouin. They had turned the skating arena into a venue for the concert, so it was quite cold, but the sound was great. We had passes so we didn’t have to pay a cover, and we were able to go «backstage»(basically the changerooms) and hang out with God Made Me Funky. It was a great time!
