I’ve been to Yardley’s a few times now and have never bought anything. I find the prices to be very high and the quality of SOME of the items to be questionable. Clearly modern light fixtures can be $ 800! Costume jewelry is $ 80 for a fairly modern piece and an old but unremarkable dresser might go for $ 400. Fairly recent printed copies of paintings in small, plain frames are $ 80. Everything was about twice price I was expecting it to be. There are some nice pieces and if you have some cash to blow you will find something, but I would recommend checking out other vintage stores first — you’ll save some money and you’ll honestly find better stuff. I won’t bother with this place again.

I went back to Yardley’s after I thought a difficult situation had been resolved only to be sadly mistaken. Not only had the owner, Eric Yardley rehired the man he had let go because of his poor behavior, the owner acted very strange and agitated that my family was back in his store. Didn’t even thank us for the $ 500 we spent on a side table. This, the same man, Eric Yardley, that showed up unexpectedly(and creepily) on my front porch crying delivering me a written letter of apology!!! All I can say is that this is a business lacking in integrity and has very strange people working there. Normally not an issue but at this place you can feel very intimidated. I would not recommend going there by yourself — very cramped and creepy!

Yardley’s is housed in a large building on the southern end of Bank Street. Offerings include light fixtures, furniture, hardware, pictures, stained glass and other assorted brick a brack. The store has an immense inventory, but not everything is a true antique. There is a addition to the rear of the building as well, although with both the main floor and upstairs, it can be difficult to navigate as there is so much stock. A downstairs area also includes furniture. Prices are somewhat negotiable if paying in cash.

Yardley’s is located in what-appears-to-be one of the original storefronts on Bank Street. The signage and exterior lighting looks original too. I half expected to see a horse and carriage parked out front. Inside the store is CRAMMED with antique furniture. And when I say crammed, I mean crammed. Some of the aisles, especially upstairs, are difficult to navigate between. To futher fill up the space, the ceiling and walls are covered with antique lighting fixtures and chandeliers. In fact, I’d have to say that the store is mostly devoted to lighting. Having said that, there are many beautiful furniture pieces, including mahogany fireplace mantles, roll top desks and wardrobes. They even have a pair of gigantic gold-framed mirrors — they must be eight by four feet each in size. The prices are expensive, but considering the craftsmanship and beauty of the stock, I had to rate the range as moderate.
