Went in to Black’s to get my daughter’s(14 month old) passport photo done yesterday. After a failed attempt to get the passport photo done at a local Shopper’s Drug Mart by a very nervous manager who could not take pictures fast enough to capture a disinterested 14 month old(And seriously, my daughter is a pretty chill cat and I was surprised that the Shopper’s guy had such a tough time taking her photo), I decided to call other stores before going in there to see if they felt confident enough to take a 14 month old’s passport photo. After 3 calls to shops that did not feel comfortable taking a baby’s passport photo(really??? Henry’s, Print2Go and I forget the other one), I decided to call Black’s in Pickering Town Center. A cheerful voice on the other end said, «Absolutely, no problem. Bring her in.» We went in, a very friendly girl(Samantha??) brought us to the back where my little girl sat on a stool with my husband holding her while crouching next to her(to be out of the frame), the passport photo was done in no time. Sure, they were more expensive at $ 21.95 than other places but it was worth it to go there where they could just get it done. Thank God for specialty shops! Will be back for her next passport photo!

I can’t say I’m overly impressed with this store; the layout or the customer service. The long(Apple store-esk) table of monitors, where people can print their pictures, creates an obstruction dividing the majority of the store in two and makes it difficult to get any sort of help if you happen to be on the wrong side of the table. There doesn’t seem to be any sort of cohesive organization in this store or with the staff. There’s no concept of helping who’s next, but rather who’s closet to the sales person. Overall, a very disappointing experience and thankfully it’s not a store I will need often.
